Paul Cauthen Cancels Remainder Of U.S. Headlining Tour To Focus On Physical & Mental Health
Paul Cauthen is indefinitely stepping away from country music to focus on his mental and physical health.
The news of the country music singer's break from touring came yesterday, when it was announced through his social media that the Black On Black Tour dates would be canceled "for the foreseeable future." He had been touring in 2025 since January, supporting his fourth studio album (Black on Black) that released in October of last year.
But the Texas artist, who is considered a modern day country outlaw thanks to his outspokenness about the current state of country music, is deciding to put himself and his health first during this difficult time. As the social media post that was shared on his behalf explained:
"Starting today Paul is leaving the road and going back to Texas to take care of his mental and physical health. We all love Paul very much and we are very happy and relieved that he has made this decision to put himself first.
It is obviously necessary to cancel all of his shows for the foreseeable future and each venue will be able to provide information on cancellations and refunds. Join us in lifting up Paul and anyone near you that may be suffering.”

Sounds like anyone that had tickets to see Cauthen in the weeks and months will be able to get a refund for the canceled show directly from each respective venue.
More importantly though, it seems that Paul Cauthen is going to get the help he needs. Not much is known about his physical and mental health struggles, but it seems as though Cauthen is the one who made the decision to step away. That definitely takes some major self-realization.
Though it would be easy for country music fans - especially those who had plans to see him on his Black on Black Tour - to be upset that the artist affectionally referred to as "Big Velvet" is stepping away, it's best that we all support him and his team at this time. The statement even made sure to mention the request of lifting up Paul while he recovers from his physical and mental health struggles.
Fans of the "Holy Ghost Fire" singer heard that loud and clear and flooded the comment section below the post with supportive and uplifting messages:
"We love you Big Velvet!"
"Sending tons of love, light and prayers your way!"
"You got this brother. I, like so many others, love the man first and the talent second. Godspeed my friend."
"The weight of the world cannot be on your shoulders. Praying for full healing."
"We need you for a long time- not just a good time."
"It hurts to see someone that has been a huge help in getting me out of bad places, struggling. My heart goes out to you. Build up, find what you need to find in you to get through."
"Do yourself a solid brother. You got this. Lots of love."
"Proud of you, Big Velvet! Take care of yourself!"
All of us here at Whiskey Riff wish Paul Cauthen a quick, positive, and speedy journey back to 100%. The country music world is a better place with him as a part of it. In the meantime, bump some "Country As F***" and send him some extra mailbox money.
