Zach Bryan Posts, And Then Quickly Deletes, Photo With Donald Trump Captioned “The Actual Smallest Man”

Maybe Zach just needs to give up social media at this point. Zach Bryan is one of the biggest and most polarizing names in the country music world right now, but he can’t seem to stop putting his foot in his mouth on social media. And during the Super Bowl, the country music superstar found himself in yet another internet pickle. (Are we surprised?) This time, it was over a photo he posted from the Super Bowl next to president Donald Trump and comedian Shane Gillis. And it wasn’t so much the picture as it was the caption: “The actual smallest man.” Zach is clearly a huge Eagles fan, showing up to a New Orleans bars in a surprise pop-up for fans before the Super Bowl and announcing that he would release a song in celebration of an Eagles victory. So his Instagram story was already flooding with content from the game, but I guess this post didn’t get lost in the midst of all of it. If you have any knowledge at all of the fire that Bryan has been under in the past few months, you know that this caption has many layers to it – especially since it involves President Trump. Of course Zach has never really made any political statements or endorsements. But naturally, posting with Trump with a caption like that had people thinking that he was talking about the president – when chances are, he was actually poking fun at himself and his height. Because of this, Zach immediately hit the backpedal and followed up the post with another story saying: “To be clear: I obviously was referring to me being the smallest man in the photo and not the President of the United States or Shane Gillis being remotely small” Of course, just posting a photo with Trump is enough to get people in your mentions, and not too long after, Zach just removed both of the posts all together… probably to avoid making things even worse. Now if you are one of the very few who are not aware of the Zach Bryan drama in the past,(where have you been?) I’ll catch you up real quick. Zach was in a long-term relationship with Brianna LaPaglia (known as Brianna Chickenfry), and they announced their breakup back in October. Since then, Brianna, who is a personality for Barstool Sports, has come out with a lot of accusations of emotional abuse and cheating throughout their relationship. Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool, who had previously admitted to never liking Zach Bryan, went all in on him with the release of a diss track titled “Smallest Man,” from Taylor Swift’s song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” bashing Zach for what he put Bri through and of course, making fun of him for his size. Not too long after, Bryan’s label, Warner Music Group had the song pulled from streaming services after it came out that Portnoy’s collaborator (and Brianna’s podcast host) Josh Richards was also signed the Warner himself. So yeah, it’s pretty ironic that he is bringing back up the “smallest man” insult willingly, and even bringing in Taylor Swift, who was at the game, since it’s a reference to her hit song. Despite all the controversy, Zach Bryan has been vocal on his thoughts on America, especially as a veteran, while avoiding taking a hard political stance. But he’s no stranger to the drama, so it’s not surprising that people were questioning the intentions of his post with Trump. I feel like there’s no way his word choice was unintentional, because right as the Chickenfry stuff was settling down, it was just about the worst thing he could’ve said. Meanwhile, fans are still waiting on Zach to drop “Dear Miss” as promised after the Eagles win. And he might want to go ahead and do that to take the heat off of himself for his social media posts. The post Zach Bryan Posts, And Then Quickly Deletes, Photo With Donald Trump Captioned “The Actual Smallest Man” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
