I bet this conversation was nowhere to be found on Koe Wetzel’s 2025 bingo card, nor any bingo cards for years to come… but hey, it’s a compliment, I guess. However, the podcast took an early turn down a street I don’t think any of these three men expected when Bert went on a tangent about the bear community among gays. The conversation went from admiring Rolex watches and how getting your first Rolex is a similar feeling to getting to see boobs for the first time. But then Bert took a hard turn with the conversation when he shared a story about how one time he got stopped by a gay man, telling him how he and his friends think that Bert is very attractive. Bert then learns that this man is a member of the “bear” gay community, which is essentially a term for a bigger, burlier man. According to Montclair State University, a bear is defined as: “Bear: 1. A gay or bisexual man who has facial/body hair and a cuddly body. 2. An umbrella term that refers to members of a subculture in the gay and bisexual male communities and is often defined as more of an attitude or sense of comfort with natural masculinity and bodies. So men that look like… Bert and Koe. Bert tells Koe: “Dude, you’d be huge in the bear community.”  All three guests look at each other, a little confused because they are unfamiliar with the term. When Bert reacts with surprise, HARDY reminds him that Koe is “all Texas,” so it’s not the craziest thing that they aren’t familiar with this term. “The bear community is you. It’s gay men that look like you. They are only attracted to men that look like you… Bears, you’ve got power bears…like I’m a power bear. You’re a power bear.”  Bert then tells Koe that he’s missing a vast community that would love his music by not promoting himself to the bear community. “Hold on, you’re going to double your record sales. I’m not screwing around, man. All it is, really honestly, we are going to break it down, and I know this doesn’t sound right or whatever. It’s just dudes, right? It’s just dudes… They like the same sh*t we like, they like to hunt, they like to f**k, they like good music. They also just like kissing dudes.”  HARDY then leans over to Koe, curious if he knows anyone in this community or the gay community in general. “I don’t know a whole lot of gay people…well, I do… not that hunt.”  Later in the episode, Bert’s bear friend calls them back, and he, of course, he immediately falls in love with Koe’s looks… but who doesn’t love Koe’s looks? Maybe Bert is one to something here, and Koe can tap into this market and, who knows, perhaps even become a celebrity poster child among the bear community.
