At 58 years old, this is daunting. I have always been ready to resist as a true Aussie patriot, but as I have grown older, I have watched our country and society be made weaker by our government and propaganda pretending to have our best interest and safety at heart. As a Nation we are much less resilient. Our manufacturing, our steel, and our petrochemicals are gone. We are completely reliant on imports. When I was 20, I was confident that Australian civilians could resist an invasion. At 30, I was optimistic that we would and could form resistance groups. By 40, I knew I would be part of a tiny minority willing to actively resist. Now, at 58, I know I will be almost alone in that fight. I am no longer physically capable of mounting a strong resistance. If the time comes, I will have to rely on scavenging military ordnance from fallen soldiers to arm myself. If only the war had come when I was in my prime, a time when I knew I could rely on my neighbors, where many of them were armed and able to stand with me, to resist, to bleed with me, and, if necessary, to die with me in defense of our country. But today? Today, I fully expect my neighbors to turn me in to the invading authorities. I have no faith in our government. I have no faith in my neighbors. I know this because I have seen how they habitually vote for conflicted despots. I live in Victoria, where my neighbors re-elected a blatant, in-your-face dictator who trampled our human rights with a jackboot during covid. My neighbours actually believe that disarming civillians has kept them safe. When the time comes, invading forces will take over our media and government effortlessly. And my neighbors? They will capitulate without a fight. If we are ever invaded, we are so screwed. ?
