Empire State Building TikTok Account Goes Viral With Expert Troll Aimed At Morgan Wallen: “This Was So Messy & I’m So Here For It”

Honestly, I aspire to be this level of petty… but this whole thing has officially gone way too far. Of course, the walk out seen around the world has become national news, and of course I’m referring to Morgan Wallen’s abrupt exit from Saturday Night Live after an appearance timed to promote his upcoming album, I’m The Problem, as well as the corresponding tour, this past weekend. But the ultra-viral clip is from the end of the show, when it appeared that the country star was making a beeline to get the heck out of Studio 8H, when most guests stand around and chat with the cast until the credits are completely over. During SNL’s signature end of show sendoff – where the cast, host and musical guest all say goodbye to the audience and hug and chat – the country music singer gave his pleasantries to host Mikey Madison (who won the 2025 Oscar for “Best Actress” for her performance in Anora) and then Wallen walked right off the stage. Thank you, Mikey Madison and @MorganWallen! Goodnight! pic.twitter.com/FDlInhhHqb — Saturday Night Live – SNL (@nbcsnl) March 30, 2025 Shortly after walking off set, it seemed like Morgan really was ready to leave and catch a private plane back to Tennessee, sharing a rare non-promotional Instagram story saying: “Get Me Back To God’s Country.” Morgan Wallen on Instagram Stories after his #SNL performances pic.twitter.com/S89xjcgIqs — Saturday Night Network (@thesnlnetwork) March 30, 2025 TMZ spoke to a source close to Wallen about the incident, who said that Morgan meant nothing by his exit and he “entered and exited” the studio the same way he did in rehearsal and camera blocking all week: “We’re told he entered and exited the studio the same way he did Saturday night during rehearsal and camera blocking all week leading up to the live show… so he routinely headed that way when he thought it was time to go.” Honestly, I did think it was a bit odd for him to exit that way when no other guest really has and he’s been on the show before, so he knows how it works, but also can’t blame him for wanting to get out of there. Even in the show teasers, fans were quick to point out that Morgan looked like he wasn’t all that thrilled about being there, and he has a checkered past with the show to say the least, so maybe he didn’t want to do it… but it’s hard to pass up press like that, I guess? He definitely doesn’t need SNL, so he could’ve just said no, but I digress… @empirestatebldg iykyk #empirestatebuilding #newyork #nyc ♬ original sound – songs n lyrics But the memes have been flowing in ever since, and Morgan is even capitalizing on the viral moment by putting out merch that says what he wrote in his initial Instagram caption. So they’ve either orchestrated a pretty wild PR stunt to promote the album that somehow actually worked in a huge way, or Morgan’s marketing team is really on top of it. The best troll job I’ve seen so far, though, comes from the Empire State Building account, which shared a video from the top with a gorgeous sunset video repeating Morgan’s “God’s Country” caption, along with his song “Sand In My Boots” playing in the background. I honestly think it’s funny how people seem offended by Morgan referring to his home as “God’s Country” because that’s something you hear very regularly in the South, but maybe it’s just a southern thing? I’m not really sure, but the phrase has really had a moment of its own… @empirestatebldg iykyk #empirestatebuilding #newyork #nyc ♬ original sound – songs n lyrics Fans on TikTok were loving the viral video: “I aspire to be this level of petty.” “Just don’t be throwing any chairs off the ledge up there…” “A person who can’t find something to love about NYC is missing part of their humanity.” “Him going to ‘God’s Country’ in a private jet. OK Morgan.” “Genuinely confused how someone couldn’t find a sliver of joy in NYC.” “Please. The Empire State Building social media manager needs a raise.” “Loling from LA aka gods country.” “‘Get me to God’s Country’ me omw to a drag show.” “Without New York, there is no ‘God’s country.” “He couldn’t handle NYC. Sounds like a him problem.” “Gonna start saying this ironically.” “Ooooo this marketing team is money.” “This was so messy and I’m so here for it.” “New York said ‘Please go back to where ever you think that is.'” “It’s so weird that people are mad about what MW said. I love NYC..I go every year but you can bet I can’t WAIT to get back to Arkansas by the end of my trip. Life is just slower & sweeter in the south.” “I’m like aren’t we all in ‘God’s Country’?” “Maybe he actually IS the problem?” “‘God’s Country’ like sir you’re not flying to Bethlehem.” It’s hard to imagine we’ll ever see Morgan in NYC again at this point… and I think he’d be more than okay with that. The post Empire State Building TikTok Account Goes Viral With Expert Troll Aimed At Morgan Wallen: “This Was So Messy & I’m So Here For It” first appeared on Whiskey Riff.
