DIY Patio For The Homestead
I’ve always wanted to have a patio in the homestead but just thinking about it makes me think of how much I’ll be spending. Just thinking about hiring a contractor to do the job makes it seem not worth it. So I spoke to my hubby and decided, we can build it ourselves! So if you also want to try your building skills, try this. It may take more than a weekend though.
Materials For Building A Patio:
Paver
Crushed Bank
Packable Sand
Wooden Stakes
Landscape fabric
Tools You’ll Need:
Hammer
Tape Measure
Chalk Line
Line Level
Level
Garden Rake
Hearing Protection
Wheelbarrow
Safety Glasses
Sod Cutter
Tamper
Masonry Saw
gloves
Garden Hose
Shovel
Brick Hammer
Mason String line
Push broom

Let Us Start Building A DIY Patio!
Step 1: Set-Up The Base
Set a 9-inch depth for your base. Layer a crushed bank to your base.

Step 2: Placing The Bedding Sand And Pavers
Use wood and steel bars to keep the sand even and use a chalk line to keep the paver aligned.

Step 3: Cutting Pavers And Adding The Joint Sand
Use a masonry saw to cut pavers for designing your patio or to make sure that all the pavers are in perfect shape. After all the pavers are set, sweep the jointing sand over the cracks of the bricks.The jointing sand will work as a binder once watered. Let it dry.

A patio is a perfect spot to take some time to catch up on a busy day or just relax and unwind. This DIY patio that we've learned to create today is another great project to add to any homestead. I don't want any envy brows from you but I just want you to know how fun it was when we build ours and now, it's a place where I and my husband can really take some time to observe and enjoy the comfort homesteading life have brought us.
