Zach Top Performs New Song In Mississippi, “Good Times & Tan Lines”
A new one coming in hot.
Zach Top teases fans with new music during his live shows, and most recently, a Mississippi crowd got a taste of what’s in store for the future. Zach Top could ride the high of his debut record, Cold Beer & Country Music, for a little longer as the demand for his tickets is through the roof. But given that ZT wants a sustainable career, he’s not planning on coasting even though he has had a massive rise in popularity over the last year and a half.
During a Q&A with Spotify at the Houston Rodeo, Zach Top confirmed that he’s almost done with his next record and that it should be released sometime this summer.
“I just went in and tracked a few more songs to round out the second record. So we got that finished up and are getting it mixed right now. It’ll come out at some point in the summer. I’m not sure exactly when yet, but there will be a new record coming this summer.”

The fact that the record is slated for a summer release must’ve been on Zach Top’s mind when writing because he recently previewed a new song during a VIP acoustic session at The Lyric in Oxford, Mississippi. The new twanger Top played for his crowd is called “Good Times And Tan Lines.” But don’t let the title fool you into thinking this is a beach bum anthem; it still has that signature ’90s flair.
The song he described as a “goofy little summertime song” has a “Chattahoochee” feel as Top sings about spending time at the local pond or creek, cracking open beers, and loading into a truck to swing off a rope into the water.
“Talkin’ about good times and tan lines
Cold beer and summer nights
That was all there was to life
Good times and tan lines
Good, good times and tan lines.”
Like Alan Jackson saying that everyone has their own “Chattahoochee,” this song instantly transports you to the local creek or lake where you spent your youth going, and where you probably got into a bit of trouble as a teenager.
@christianfreakinburge Good times and tan lines, can’t wait for this song to be officially released! #ZachTop #zachtopmusic #GoodTimesAndTanLines #NewMusic @Zach Top @The Lyric Oxford ♬ original sound – Christian Burge
Naturally, fans instantly became head over heels with the song.
“This is country music.”
“Good song Zach Top.”
“So freaking talented.”
Top must be really into the song at the moment because he played it again at the VIP set in Starkville, Mississippi, telling the Rick’s Cafe crowd that he’s planning on “Goot Times And Tan Lines” to be the lead single off the new record.
“He told us that this will be the first single from his new upcoming album!”

I can’t wait to hear the studio cut of this one. If you’re a fan of “Good Times And Tan Lines” and want to listen to another unreleased summer ditty from the Washington native, check out another track he’s been playing during the VIP sets, seemingly titled “Flip Flop.”
This Jimmy Buffett-inspired heartbreak track will instantly put you in a mood.
@rainiraney @Zach Top played a brand new one at Ballpark Villiage in STL last night and it’s SO GOOD!! Dreams were definitely made . #zachtop #ballparkvillage ♬ original sound – Raini Raney
