Koe Wetzel Performs Unreleased Song “Surrounded” For First Time With Full Band

Taking one of his new ones to the stage. Koe Wetzel is cooking up a new record and is teasing fans of what’s in store with an unreleased ditty titled “Surrounded.” Koe first debuted this track during an Audacy Totally Private concert, an intimate concert for you and a handful of your friends that you can win through the network. For the show that one lucky fan won in Nashville, they got a one-of-a-kind experience being up close and personal with Koe Wetzel, and they were the first to hear what he’s been working on in the studio. Before the show, Koe confirmed with Katie Neal that he was in Nashville cutting a new record. His goal for his next album is to build on what he established on 9 Lives.  “Just kind of growing off of ‘9 Lives.’ You know, I think the music that I’ve made for so long has just kind of instilled into me and just kind of soldered into me and with this new music out, with the new record, I just kind of wanted to get a little bit more of that rock ‘n’ roll side. Back to that Texas rock ‘n’ roll.” Koe mentioned that creating this record is bringing him a lot of joy because he’s going straight from writing to recording the music, and it’s making him appreciate the sound they are curating more. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Audacy (@audacy) One of the songs he debuted acoustically during the Totally Private show was “Surrounded.” Although Koe mentioned during the set that he was under the weather, so he might not sound his best, it didn’t matter because fans fell in love with the song’s lyrical content. The convict-on-the-run-inspired track highlights the double meaning of being “Surrounded” physically and mentally. It appears as though Wetzel feels like a convict in his own home, heartbroken about an ending relationship, yet he can’t outrun his ex-lover’s memory, especially when he’s intoxicated. Koe must’ve read the feedback his fans left on the video of the song’s acoustic debut because during his recent concert in Durant, Oklahoma, he took the song to the big stage. If you liked the acoustic version of “Surrounded,” then you’ll love the full band version. The band’s gritty sound adds to the song’s heartbreak, breathing more life into the words. “I can’t run out, I can’t fight it I can’t think ’cause my head’s so clouded Every morning, every night is All alone but the room feels crowded Should’ve took all the mirrors you left Cause I’m drunk and I can’t be around it Hands up, we’ve got this house surrounded And there’s nothing I can do about it.” Sonically, you can hear elements from 9 Lives on this single, which means Koe is hitting the nail on the head with what he wants to accomplish on this next record. I hope we get this one sooner rather than later. It’s a certified heater. @skylarjesika01 @Koe Wetzel unreleased song “Surrounded”.
