Post Malone Says He Already Has About 35 Songs For Next Country Album: “Some Music Releasing Very Soon”
Another mega-sized country album coming soon.
This past weekend, Post Malone closed out the first week of the massive Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, with a headlining set that included a range of hits, and obviously some of his newer country music as well. Post put out his debut country album F-1 Trillion in August, which featured tons of collaborations with other country artists and was overall a pretty decent record I thought.
Many fans online were not too impressed he brought the country to the California dessert, and you can read more about that HERE.
He actually had a lot of success with the aforementioned country album, and it included 18 songs and as many collaborations with stars like Morgan Wallen and Lainey Wilson, with an additional nine solo songs on the deluxe F-1 Trillion: Long Bed addition, bringing it to 27 songs in total. Of course, that’s the trend these days, to put out way too many songs on one record, and he’s going to do it again.
During a private party ahead of his Coachella set, Post revealed that he’s still loving the Nashville community, and has already been making trips out there to work on country album number two:
“’m pretty excited for the new record already. Made probably 35 songs; it’s just a matter of which one’s rock, and which one’s sock.”
It’s unclear if it will feature as many collaborations as the first one did, though I’m sure at least a few are highly likely, because that’s just what people do these days. According to Billboard, he’s working vocals, but has already cut some of the songs and has some ready to go. Most of them will sound similar on the tour, but he will give his band some room to make it their own for the live show.
Post says he’s been averaging putting out an “album a year,” and he finally felt like he was having fun again with his most recent album. So much so, that he’s attempting to “do it again,” which means you can probably expect it to be a relatively similar project:
“I said in an interview a while ago, ‘When I’m 30 years old, I’m gonna make a country record.’ And I made it at 29, so I wasn’t too far off. But you know, it just happened naturally. I was like, ‘F— it, let’s go to Nashville. Let’s give it a go.’
I think finally bringing the fun back into what I was doing really showed on the record. And I think a lot of folks had fun listening to it. And we’re going to attempt to do it again. I’m excited to keep going.”
F-1 Trillion topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and U.S. Top Country Albums chart, so by all numerical accounts, it was a huge success, and he will subsequently head out on his first-ever headlining stadium tour this spring. And fans can expect to hear some of that new music here very soon, Post confirmed that it’s coming very soon.
Stay tuned… I’ve enjoyed his country era overall, and I’m looking forward to hearing the new music, especially if it includes more solo stuff, because that was his most solid work on F-1 Trillion and I found it pretty impressive, considering he’d never done it before.
