“Came For The Beer & The Fat Girls” – Cross Canadian Ragweed Fan Horrifies Wife In Local News Interview From Stillwater

Can’t take him anywhere… Over the weekend, Stillwater, Oklahoma, was flooded with tourists, all who were gathering in and around Boone Pickens Stadium to see the reunion of the legendary Red Dirt band, Cross Canadian Ragweed. Formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in the mid-90s, Cross Canadian Ragweed became a cornerstone of the Red Dirt movement, releasing seven studio albums and three live records before calling it quits in 2010. Even though they were not an active band for fifteen years, the group was majorly influential on many of today’s Oklahoma and Texas country artists, including Koe Wetzel, Kolby Cooper, Dylan Wheeler, Treaty Oak Revival, Kody West, Tanner Usrey, and more. When they announced they were getting back together to play four nights in Boone Pickens Stadium for The Boys from Oklahoma event, which featured the best of Red Dirt music with Jason Boland & the Stragglers, Stoney LaRue, The Great Divide, and the Turnpike Troubadours taking the stage before Ragweed every night, it was pandemonium in the Red Dirt community. Frontman Cody Canada insisted they would never get back together, and everyone was in shock when the announcement was made official. But that shock was quickly followed by excitement as the anticipation for Ragweed’s reunion built. Tanner Usrey, specifically, was live-tweeting all his emotions surrounding The Boys from Oklahoma event, which was top-tier content. I was hammered jamming Ragweed at 3am a month ago and now it seems like they’re coming back. Coincidence? I think not https://t.co/Ns9dr39XSh — TannerUsrey (@TUsreymusic) September 20, 2024 Hey so 15 year old me is losing his shit at this https://t.co/dhTDCOrvTy — TannerUsrey (@TUsreymusic) April 12, 2025 Needless to say, Stillwater was electric during all four nights of the event. Many of us are still riding a high from the weekend, reliving moments like Tanner Usrey and Parker McCollum taking the stage with Ragweed. A Tulsa news station is on its way to becoming viral with a hilarious interview clip shot outside Eskimo Joe’s, an iconic Stillwater establishment. Fox 23 Tulsa sent reporter Devyn Lyon to Stillwater to report on the scene, asking people why they ventured to the small town Oklahoma State University calls home. As an OSU alum myself, I knew this interview would feature some story-worthy moments when Lyon botched the name of Eskimo Joe’s, calling it Oklahoma Joe’s. Off to a hot start… During one portion of the segment, he began asking folks what they were excited about and what they were in Stillwater for. Of course, most of the folks interviewed answered that they were excited about Ragweed. It feels like they should have come up with some more innovative interview questions than that, but I digress. One couple Lyon interviewed won the gold medal for best response. The wife kicked things off by saying that she’d grown up on Ragweed, so she’s most excited about them taking the stage. “Because I’ve been listening to them for 25 years, I grew up on them.” After taking a brief pause, the camera clips to two young men who answered the same question. Then, the camera comes back to hear her husband’s answer. “I came for the beer and the fat girls.”  HAHA. After her husband shared his answer, his wife slowly moved her hand over her eyes in shame. Just utterly horrified… but hey, at least he was honest. Someone clipped this one segment of the interview and posted it to TikTok, which is already picking up traction. This is the kind of content that deserves to go viral. Check out some of the early comments left on the shorter clip. It will give you a good chuckle. “I bet that was a long concert and longer ride home.” “Unfortunately, I identify with the wife in the second clip.” “Omg that was classic… lol my husband laughed way too hard.” “Live your truth, my guy.” “There you go.” “Dude… dead.” Just an electric weekend.
