Cody Jinks, Luke Combs, & Many More Country Music Artists Top The List Of “Most Popular MLB Walk Up Songs” In 2025
You’ve got to love a good walk up song… especially if the MLB player goes country with it.
Though baseball might not be everyone’s favorite game (I, for one, love it), most people would agree that walk up songs are one of the best things in all of sports. The seconds of music that play before a major leaguer steps up to the plate give fans an inside look at the player’s music taste.
Sometimes walk up songs can even become mini anthems within a contest, like the time when Philadelphia Phillies fans sang along to Bryson Stott’s song selection:

That’s a beautiful moment right there.
And that moment mostly has the music to thank. We all likely know the power that music can have… how it can pick you up when you are down, or keep you grounded when life’s many obstacles amp up the anxiety. I’d imagine a baseball player’s walk up song can be incredibly comforting – and motivating – as they step into a duel with whatever pitcher is on the mound.
So it’s cool to know that country music leads the way when it comes to walk up songs that are currently being played over the loudspeakers in the MLB this season.
MLB players traditionally just choose one song for the season, though they can always change it up if they’d like to. There’s a select number of major leaguers that narrow down their walk up to a couple of songs, and then they put them into a rotation for the 162 game season. You want to know something cool? Apple Music (sorry Spotify users) has gathered together every walk up song that’s currently being used and put them into team-specific playlists, as Yahoo Sports writer Kendall Baker pointed out:
Today I learned that Apple Music has a playlist for every MLB's team walk-up music. pic.twitter.com/hgjYs8WHMc

If you are a baseball fan, and you are a loyal Apple Music user (like myself), then what are you waiting for? Go add your team’s playlist to your library so you can get fired up on game days.
A closer look at all of those playlists reveals that there’s one genre that shows up more than any other. There’s a fair amount of rap, rock, and whatever else mixed in, but the genre that seems to run the MLB walk up song list is none other than country music. I know this is more of a NASCAR reference and we’re talking about baseball, but it just feels right… can I get a DALE YEAH?
If you are to scroll through any of the team playlists, you’ll see artists like Whiskey Myers, Kid Rock, Toby Keith, Zach Bryan, and many other country name. Songs that fall within the country music category are plentifully scattered throughout all of the walk up song playlists, and Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse” takes the crown for “Song That Appears The Most.”
Other country songs by Johnny Cash, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Cody Jinks, and Morgan Wallen are also utilized by numerous MLB players, as you’ll see in the list below:

Saying “country is cool again” almost seems like an understatement when you see that.
I thought I’d do you the favor of gathering together a few of the country songs you just saw included in the list above, just incase you needed to rock out… or feel like you were walking up to the plate and trying to send one over the left field wall.
Go ahead. No one is looking. Fire one of these up and imagine you are one of the league’s biggest stars stepping up to the plate.

“God’s Gonna Cut You Down” by Johnny Cash
“Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” by Luke Combs
