Luke Bryan pulling another embarrassing dad move… We’ve all seen our fair share of moments where Luke Bryan’s age comes out, and one particular case from an American Idol audition is going around on TikTok right now: @houstonnottexas Jesus #americanidol #lukebryan ♬ original sound – houstonnottexas A young woman, Santina Madden, is singing her heart out, holding a violin, while Luke suddenly gets up, walks right in front of her, and says “Just give me the damn thing.” He reaches for the violin, realizing it’s strapped to her, then takes his seat again while she continues to play the fiddle after her singing. Clearly, she’s a fantastic singer, so it seems like Luke was just saying that she didn’t need the violin with her. He had the right intentions, just not the best execution, and some American Idol watchers are tired of it: “I’m trying to grasp on why he would do that?!” “He always interrupts the contestants it drives me insane” “It is because Luke Bryan can sing and not much else. He probably can’t even read music let alone play an instrument.” “His relevance is limited to ‘American Idol’ so… he REALLY wants people talking about him” “It’s also the person who sings “Strip It Down’” The video even found its way to the contestant who commented: “My fight or flight definitely kicked in during that moment” That poor girl was probably so nervous already singing on national television, then had to keep singing with Luke trying to snatch her violin from her. Even afterwards, Lionel Richie joked that he was sorry one of the judges “attacked” her, ensuring her that it “doesn’t happen often.” Clearly he is not these people’s favorite judge on the show, but he has been doing it for a while now. Luke has had a judging seat on American Idol since 2018, and has successfully filled the role as the goofy guy, the one cracking jokes to lighten the mood when it gets intense. So either his “fun uncle” energy is drifting off, or it’s the same as it has been, but some people are just getting tired of it. Of course, his fan base is loyal and there are a lot of folks defending him in the comments: “Absolutely NO Luke Bryan slander round here, absolutely not” “He’s creating a distraction to see how her stage performance is going to be” “I think he just was trying to have her put it down so she could use her hands” “No cuz if she’s not gonna play the whole time don’t bring it, it’s a SINGING competition” “Live laugh love Luke” “Cold take” “You just have a problem to have a problem. Just complaining to complain.” If we know anything about Luke Bryan, we know that this isn’t the first time his intrusive thoughts have taken over. He even told a podcast last month that he is doing some self reflection-at least when it comes to the singing college songs: “When I was doing spring break stuff, I was 34, 35, 36, 37… It didn’t get weird, it just felt like, you know, it’s time to move on from maybe the spring break, me trying to sing college songs.” You can respect that Luke’s not letting his age take away from wanting to bring the party, and at least he’s self aware about that. He’s a predictable man. And some American Idol watchers might not see past that side of him. You’ve got a big heart, Luke, but maybe let’s leave the singers along next time. Either way, she punched her ticket to Hollywood during the audition.
