Lainey Wilson’s Words Of Wisdom To Ella Langley & Megan Moroney: “Be Present… Not Let The Voices Of The World Get Them Down”
Women supporting women, we love to see it.
Lainey Wilson is passing down some advice to the next leading women of country music, Ella Langley and Megan Moroney. Lainey Wilson paved the way for a new generation of women in country with the success of Bell Bottom Country. The Louisiana native stuck to her guns, pioneering a sound that is authentically her, and the work paid off as she was named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year in 2024.
While Wilson now has a long list of accolades, solidifying her name as one of the powerhouse female artists, she’s passing down some advice to the younger generation entering the industry. It’s no secret that female artists have to fight twice as hard to get a seat at the table in a male-dominated genre. With pioneers like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Wynonna Judd, and more, they proved to the younger generation that if you stick to your guns, it’s possible.
The women who paved the way for today’s artists have always passed down wise words, and Wilson recalled with iHeartRadio some of the wisdom that Dolly Parton instilled in her early in her career.
“‘I make dang sure I am passionate about every single thing that I do,’ she said, ‘even if it means I am doing a million things, it means that I have to love every single one of them.'”
Wilson recalled the “Joelene” singer telling her.
Now that the AMC Awards are quickly approaching, Wilson is lending some advice to the next generation. Wilson, who is friends with the “Break It Right Back” singer Megan Moroney and the “weren’t for the wind” singer Ella Langley, is encouraging both women to keep their head down and keep working hard, but also tells them to soak in every moment because they both deserve everything that has come their way.
“I’m buddies with Megan Moroney (and) Ella Langley, and to watch their stars just soaring, it’s really, really cool to see. And at times, I wanna just pour out as much as I possibly can to them and be like, ‘don’t you miss this moment,’ you know? ‘Be present. Do whatever you gotta do to soak it in and celebrate these times, and then get ready for the next one because it’s going to be right around the corner quicker than you can even realize it just happened.’
So, my advice to them is really just to keep your head down and work hard, but also…acknowledge that their hard work has gotten them to this point… and not letting the voices of the world get them down.”
This is not the first time that Wilson has praised these women for what they are accomplishing. After the ACM Award nominees were announced, Wilson spoke very highly of Ella Langley, who earned an impressive eight nominations for this year’s awards.
“She shows up, and she rolls her sleeves up, and she is ready to kick down barn doors. You’ve got to have that spirit in this business; if you don’t have that spirit, there’s somebody behind you that’s gonna have that spirit, and they’re gonna knock down the barn door for you. So she’s one of those.
I would not be surprised if she don’t come in there with her broom and start sweeping it up. And I’d be behind her with the little tray, you know? The dust pan!
I saw that this morning and was just like, ‘Let’s go.’ I’m glad to see the community really taking notice in somebody who’s just got it. That’s a good feeling, especially as a female in the business. It’s good to see.”
Real recognizes real, and Lainey Wilson knows that Ella Langley and Megan Moroney are well on their way to being as big of stars as she is. It’s really cool to see Wilson speak so highly of these young women, and it shows the camaraderie among female country artists.
It takes a village to get to where these women are, and being supportive of one another helps everyone continue to climb the ranks. Talk about true girls’ girls.
Fire up Megan Moroney’s anthem for the women in your life, “The Girls,” before you go.
