During an event hosted by Axios on Thursday, Suarez was asked whether he would consider launching a campaign to replace Gov. Ron DeSantis. Suarez responded, “I’m not saying I’m completely not considering it. I certainly have considered it.” Suarez, however, noted it would be difficult to campaign against Rep. Byron Donalds, who has already received an endorsement from Trump to be the next governor of Florida. Suarez, during an event hosted by Axios/The Race earlier this week, was asked whether he would consider launching a bid to replace the term limited Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). “I’m not saying I’m completely not considering it. I certainly have considered it,” he said Thursday at the event ahead of Miami’s Formula 1 race. But, he acknowledged, President Trump’s endorsement of Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) for the post likely “makes it hard” for other candidates to compete. Donalds officially launched his gubernatorial bid after receiving support from the president. “There may be other ways to serve,” he added. Suarez, who ran a brief presidential campaign last year before endorsing Trump, has floated the idea in the past. President Trump earlier this year endorsed Republican Rep. Byron Donalds for governor. Trump’s endorsement previously boosted current governor Ron DeSantis. Suarez admitted Trump’s endorsement would have a big impact on the GOP field. “The president has weighed in on the governor’s race in a way that makes it hard” for other Republicans. “There may be other ways to serve,” he said. “I’m not saying I’m completely not considering it. I certainly have considered it.” Suarez touted his record on taxes, crime, and creating a business-friendly environment in Miami. He said one of his proudest achievements was bringing an F1 Grand Prix to Miami.
