Man, you just can’t make anybody happy, can you? Look, there’s A LOT to complain in regards to the ACM Awards… Old Dominion again? That Rascal Flatts Backstreet Boys monstrosity, but we’re in a WAY better place than we were a few years back. But it seems like winners are already getting a little stale for country music fans. First, fans were tired of Chris Stapleton winning. And now they are sick of Lainey Wilson winning? Let’s dive into it… Lainey Wilson had a sweep at the ACM Awards. She took home Female Artist of the Year, Artist-Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, and the famed Entertainer of the Year for the second consecutive year. With this EOTY win, she just became the first woman in over a decade to have won Entertainer of the Year two years in a row. The last woman to achieve this was Taylor Swift, who won the honor in 2011 and 2012. She’s “kicking down barn doors,” as she’d say. Wilson was also honored that she won the ACM Triple Crown after his EOTY win last year. I love every single one of y’all in this category. You took me out on the road, asked me to be on songs, supported me in every way you can.” Talk about a class act. It was a big night for Wilson to say the least, and it’s more hardware to add to her expansive wall of awards and accolades that she’s racked up since her breakout year. Some other massive honors that Wilson has received include the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, and a Grammy Award for Best Country Album with Bell Bottom Country. Wilson is the definition of an entertainer. While she considers herself a songwriter first, not many artists get on stage, run around, nail every note, and make sure they make their fans feel seen and loved every night they hit the stage. While most of country music sees how she’s changing the game, some fans were not so ecstatic for the Louisiana native after her big night, and especially after her EOTY win. Social media began to sound off after she won her second EOTY award, noting they are over the “Lainey Wilson show.” And while I’ll just assume it’s mostly Kelsea Ballerini fans, I’m not sure what the fuss is about this because she is blazing a trail for women in country music and is creating music that embraces the roots of country music.
