Vince Vaughn Teams Up With ‘Rocky’ And ‘Sopranos’ Stars For New Netflix Role
Vince Vaughn is starring in a new Netflix movie, and this time, he’s taking a softer turn. The actor, known for big comedy hits like Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, and The Break-Up, is stepping into a role that focuses on food, tradition, and Italian-American culture.
Vaughn said the story reminded him of growing up around his grandmother. The film shows how food and family traditions can carry emotions, memories, and culture. It’s not just about recipes but also about how people use food to remember and connect. For Vaughn, this is a personal and emotional story.

Nonnas is based on the real story of Joe Scaravella, a New York MTA worker who decided to open a restaurant after the death of his mother. The restaurant, Enoteca Maria, is a tribute to her and his late grandmother. Instead of hiring trained chefs, Joe brought in four Italian grandmothers to cook their own family dishes using traditional methods.
Vaughn, who plays Joe, said he connected with the role because he was also raised with his grandmother. He is amazed that the restaurant exists in real life and honors Italian grandmothers by letting them cook what they know best, homemade meals passed down through generations.
