NEW: Top Obama Adviser Reveals He’s ‘In Training’ For 2028 Presidential Bid

The Democratic Party has a notoriously shallow bench of candidates ahead of the next presidential election cycle, but Barack Obama remains one of the few figures on the left who’s still relatively popular across the party’s base. His former White House chief of staff seems to be hoping he can siphon off some of that good will and launch of campaign of his own in a few years. Rahm Emanuel addressed his presidential ambitions during a recent episode of ABC’s “The View.” According to The Hill: “Everybody in this audience, they just want one thing, their kids to have a shot,” Emanuel said. “And the problem is Washington’s giving them the shaft. And that is wrong.” Following his comments, multiple people remarked that Emanuel came off “presidential.” In his response, Emanuel said he was “in training,” adding, “I don’t know if I’ll make the Olympics.” Judging from the reaction his remarks received on social media, however, it appears he’s not yet ready for the big stage: Why are washed-up operators like Rahm Emanuel on #TheView today? It’s 2025 and time for new voices, fresh perspectives. pic.twitter.com/w4mqdHUYZn — NawSun (@Kikoqua1990) May 14, 2025 Seeing Rahm Emanuel. #TheView pic.twitter.com/e8GgUKCUWw — Chanteezy Is In Her Rest Era (@iamchanteezy) May 14, 2025 Rahm Emanuel will NOT be getting any support from me if he ever decides to run. Another fraud #TheView — DebateYourStepDaddyNotMe (@CrushedSounds) May 14, 2025 Furthermore, Emanuel’s appearance on “The View” exposed even more discord within the Democratic Party in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s disastrous term in office. According to Fox News: Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin spoke about how the show recently hosted former President Biden, recalling, “he took some responsibility for Trump being re-elected, he pushed back on accusations of cognitive decline, he reiterated he thinks he would have won.” She then asked, “You worked for President Biden. Do you think it’s helpful for Democrats for him to be speaking out right now?” “No. Nada. Never,” Emanuel replied, agreeing with many Democrats. “No,” the former Chicago mayor said again. “I grew up under Bill Clinton’s politics. Never stop thinking about tomorrow. That’s backwards, not forward. I want to figure out how to get out of here. I don’t want to figure out how we got here. Here’s the other thing, Donald Trump wants to constantly litigate his Red Bull versus Coke Zero. That’s not where I want to go, okay? And that’s what he wants.” Emanuel, who also served as Biden’s ambassador to Japan, enumerated what he would like to focus on instead. “What’s the strategy? I want to focus on the Medicaid cuts, the healthcare cuts, as somebody who is the point person to negotiate the children’s health initiative, so 10 million kids could have healthcare. I want the focus to be on those 10 million kids whose parents work full-time, but can’t afford healthcare,” he said. “I don’t want this about ‘What did Joe Biden do, what his staff didn’t do.’ That is yesterday. Legitimate. It’s a discussion. I want to focus on what matters to the American people, which is their healthcare, how much groceries cost, what they want for their children and their future and this is about the past.” Here’s a clip of Emanuel’s recent comments:
