The documentary delves into Jeffreys’s life and career as an artist in the music industry, questioning how a musician with such extraordinary lyrical and musical gifts remained highly underappreciated despite creating music that remains very relevant to today’s political and cultural landscape. She explained that having spent more than four decades with her husband, she had seen personally how his music connects with those who find it, even though they are always surprised at its lack of publicity. Motivated by the limitations, she created the film to introduce Garland to a broader public to showcase how his music, deeply rooted in themes of race and social justice, feels more relevant than ever.
