Billy Joel Cancels All Planned Concert Dates Following Health Diagnosis
On May 23rd, Billy Joel announced that he has been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus. He has canceled all of his scheduled performance dates as he focuses on his health.
The Grammy-winning singer shared the news via social media.

“This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance,” reads a statement on Instagram. “Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period.”
The statement added that Billy Joel is “thankful” for the care he’s receiving and is “prioritizing his health.”
“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience,” he said. “And thank you for understanding.”
Billy Joel first hinted at health issues in March when he announced that he had to postpone all of his upcoming shows because of a “medical condition.”
“In the grand scheme of things, he’s a healthy person,” his wife Alexis told Fox News Digital earlier this month. “And he’s well and working on himself, trying to get better and do what he has to do medically. So it’s important, you know, we need him around so he has to do what he has to do.”
The U.S. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke writes that normal pressure hydrocephalus causes an “abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid deep within the brain.”
