A woke activist judge has just blocked the Trump administration from revoking Harvard’s ability to admit foreign students into the university. U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, an Obama appointee, issued the temporary restraining order on Friday. Just hours prior, Harvard University had filed a complaint, calling the Trump administration’s action a “blatant violation” of the Constitution. And why the hell do they always look like this?! pic.twitter.com/Sre3sOMz35 — Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) May 23, 2025 Reuters reported: A U.S. judge on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from revoking Harvard University’s ability to enroll foreign students, a policy the Ivy League school called part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to retaliate against it for refusing to “surrender its academic independence.” The order provides temporary relief to the thousands of international students who were faced with being forced to transfer under a policy that the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based university called a “blatant violation” of the U.S. Constitution and other federal laws, and said would have an “immediate and devastating effect” on the university and more than 7,000 visa holders. “Without its international students, Harvard is not Harvard,” the 389-year-old school said in its lawsuit filed earlier on Friday in Boston federal court. Harvard enrolled nearly 6,800 international students in its current school year, equal to 27% of total enrollment. The move was the latest escalation in a broader battle between Harvard and the White House, as the Republican administration seeks to compel universities, law firms, news media, courts and other institutions that value independence from partisan politics to align with his agenda. Fox News added more details about the Trump admin’s move to shut down Harvard’s student visa program: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) moved to terminate the program after Harvard allegedly failed to provide it with the extensive behavioral records of student visa holders the department requested. DHS offered Harvard 72 hours on Thursday to come into compliance with the request and re-enter into the visa program. As of now, Harvard may no longer enroll foreign students in the 2025–2026 school year, and existing foreign students must transfer or lose their legal status to reside in the U.S. before the next academic year begins. Yesterday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said that the Trump administration decided to end the international student program at Harvard in order to hold the university responsible for refusing to tackle huge issues on their campus — including rampant violence and antisemitism. It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and benefit from their higher tuition payments to help pad their multibillion-dollar endowments. Harvard had plenty of opportunity to do the right thing. It refused. They have lost their Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification as a result of their failure to adhere to the law.
