President Trump Warns “Something Has Happened”: Helicopter Attacked While Putin Onboard
There has been an “unprecedented” attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s helicopter.
And President Trump had strong words for Putin following the attack, and the subsequent angry response by Russia.
The attack on Putin’s personal aircraft over a Russian border region was followed by an enormous round of missiles and UAV’s striking targets within Ukraine — an obvious sign of Putin’s rage after being targeted.
The attack on Putin’s helicopter was a close call according to reports of the incident now coming out:

The President’s comments on social media and to reporters following the two incidents reveal his patience is running very thin — with BOTH leaders.
But he had particularly strong words for Putin, saying “Something has happened to him”, presumably referring to an emotional response to being targeted in his own aircraft.
President Trump went on to describe him as having “gone absolutely crazy” in a social media post to his Truth Social account:
Here’s the full text of his post in case that is hard to read:
I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia! Likewise, President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop. This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not “Trump’s,” I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred.
Shortly before that statement, President Trump gave this assessment of the situation to reporters while on the tarmac between flights:
It seems like Russia and Ukraine want to do everything possible to continue the war.
We have Zelenskyy trying to take out Putin, Putin bombing civilians, and Trump trying his damndest to get something.
Trump’s rightfully fed up.

The President’s palpable frustration with Putin in particular seems to have boiled over.
For the majority of his current term, he has reserved the lion’s share of his ire over the situation for Zelensky — who certainly didn’t come out of this verbally unscathed by President Trump’s comments.
Zelensky’s decision to attempt to assassinate Putin in his own helicopter over Russian territory while talks are ongoing certainly played a role in Putin’s “crazy” missile response.
But it also increased President Trump’s disdain for Zelensky, even while holding Putin’s feet to the fire for this recent uptick in attacks while peace talks are ongoing.
Here are some of the details of that “unprecedented” attack on Putin’s helicopter while he was in the air, according to a report in Newsweek:
Putin’s helicopter was “at the epicenter” of a “large-scale” Ukrainian drone attack on May 20, Yury Dashkin, commander of a Russian air defense division, said, according to Kremlin newswire Tass.
This is the first known instance in which the Russian president is reported to have flown through an active drone attack.
Russia’s defense ministry was forced to shoot down dozens of drones during the incident, according to Dashkin, who said in an interview aired by the state-run Rossiya-24 TV channel that the intensity of the assault escalated significantly as the presidential aircraft flew over Kursk.
He said Russian air defense systems engaged the drones to ensure the safety of the presidential helicopter.
Dashkin described the attack as “unprecedented” but said all the Ukrainian drones had been destroyed.
“That’s war, and Ukraine has all the rights to defend our land,” the Ukrainian leader said when asked if Kyiv would take a chance to assassinate Putin if such an opportunity arose.
That willingness to launch an assassination attempt against Putin himself while feigning peace overtures during negotiations likely led to Putin’s large-scale strikes on Ukraine.
Most people would take that personally, and right or wrong… that type of reaction should have been expected by Ukraine.
It probably was.
As President Trump has repeatedly stated… Zelensky seems far more motivated to keep the fighting going than he does in stopping it.
Here’s footage from the aftermath of Putin’s emotional response via missiles and attack drones to give you a sense of how devastating Russia’s latest attack has been:
Those two incidents left President Trump visibly angry as he was questioned about Putin’s response during his exchange with reporters.
President Trump again emphasized that Putin’s willingness to increase his aggression towards Ukraine would lead to the “fall of Russia”, as reported by the Associated Press:
President Donald Trump made it clear he is losing patience with Vladimir Putin, leveling some of his sharpest criticism at the Russian leader as Moscow pounded Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles for a third straight night.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump wrote in a social media post on Sunday night.
Trump said Putin is “needlessly killing a lot of people,” pointing out that “missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever.”
The attack was the largest aerial assault since Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian officials. At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured.
The U.S. president warned that if Putin wants to conquer all of Ukraine, it will “lead to the downfall of Russia!” But Trump expressed frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as well, saying that he is “doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does.”
While things continue to spiral out of control between Ukraine and Russia, President Trump has seemed to be the only ADULT in the room willing to consistently push for a lasting peace.
It remains to be seen how either side will take the President’s words — whether they will continue to up the stakes, or back away from increased attacks as President Trump increases the pressure.
It also remains to be seen how long President Trump will spend on this issue, if the two warring sides don’t start to give more signs of actually wanting to stop fighting.
