Joe Rogan Reveals Oliver Anthony’s Own Nasty Divorce Inspired New Single, “Scornful Woman” – “She Wants EVERYTHING”
You just knew that kind of anger and heartache had to come from somewhere real… but given what we know about Oliver Anthony’s personal life, it just seemed out of left field. I guess it’s not…
Earlier this week, Oliver Anthony released a new song titled, “Scornful Woman,” marking the singer’s first taste of new music in 2025. And he was breathing some FIRE. The song illustrates a bitter and painful divorce, and the kind of heartache that inevitably comes along with it, but the final verse mentions fame and fortune, and how she can have all the money because he’d rather go back to being broke… that’s the line that made me go “hmmm…. sounds like something is going on here.” Oliver has consistently been a voice for the common man, but that one was personal… and Joe Rogan just confirmed it.
On the most recent episode of “Protect Our Parks,” a Joe Rogan Experience podcast series where Rogan sits down with good friends Shane Gillis, Ari Shaffir and Mark Normand, he shares that Anthony called him for advice following the release of his viral megahit, “Rich Men North Of Richmond.”
Rogan says:
“Oliver Anthony has no money, right? He’s poor; he’s selling farm equipment. He puts this song on YouTube, he’s a f****** super star, he doesn’t know what to do, he freaks out.
He asks me for advice. I call him on the phone and we have a conversation for like a f***** hour. I go, ‘Don’t sign anything with anybody.’ And he goes, ‘They are telling me I’ve got to strike while the iron’s hot.’ And I go, ‘Bulls***. They are trying to steal money from you.’ I go, ‘You’re independent. You’re already there, you’ve already made it. I know if you wrote that song, you can write a dozen of those f***** songs. You don’t need anybody.’
He goes, ‘They are offering me seven million dollars.’ I go, ‘No, they are offering to steal money from you for the rest of your life.’ That’s what they are doing. I go, ‘You don’t need them, you have talent.'”
And then Joe shares some rather intimate details about Anthony’s seemingly pending divorce, and how it sparked this song. The “Scornful Woman” is Oliver’s wife, and from the side of the story we’re given, it sounds like she’s trying to take as much money as she can from him.
“He starts making millions of dollars, playing arenas. The wife divorces him. She wants everything. She wants EVERYTHING. She wants more than half. She wants all the money he’s going to be making in the future because she was with him when he was broke. It’s f***** crazy. He’s just tortured. He wants to die. Wants to die — and writes this song.”

Rogan’s information matches the lyrics, as Anthony sings about a woman who wants more than half, but the judge’s math doesn’t add up to what she feels she deserves in the dissolution of the marriage. Sections of the lyrics also point to Anthony’s faith and how being married means “till death do us part,” not imagining that his wife would break their vows.
“Believing ya’s always gonna be right there
And now the middle of the day
Is like the middle of the night
And the court says 50/50
But the math don’t seem right
With a scornful woman”
Even hearing how Anthony delivers the lyrics in the tune, you can hear the hurt in his voice. While Anthony has always written from the heart and his experiences, one hates to jump to conclusions that everything he sings about is based on real-life events. However, that kind of pain in storytelling isn’t often fictional.
After the men listen to a portion of the song, Shane Gillis says that Oliver Anthony wrote the most insane diss track with “Scornful Woman,” and he’s not wrong.
“He just ethered his wife. Every divorced dude on Earth is just gonna be f***** blasting this s***.”
If you haven’t given this a listen yet, fire it up.
Of course, Christopher Anthony Lunsford, who performs under the name Oliver Anthony as a tribute to his grandfather, rose to fame virtually overnight in August 2023 with his viral song “Rich Men North of Richmond.” The song immediately struck a cultural nerve and exploded online after it was uploaded to YouTube channel, sparking a massive political conversation.
But in 2023, shortly after he exploded on the scene, the New York Post revealed that Oliver’s wife is named Tiffany, and the two have two children together. In the article, Tiffany’s own grandfather calls Oliver a “dedicated family man,” and says the two are so happy together:
“She and Chris define happiness. They’re happy. They’re something else. Chris is a religious type person. He doesn’t cuss or make threats. He is just a fine person.”
Welp, sounds like that all changed…
And funny enough, the grandfather says that Oliver doesn’t even play that well, and he used to not enjoy his music:
“I don’t think he can play good. If you listen, he mixes in the words with the plunking. I listen to Chris’s music every day. I didn’t like it at first…it’s all true.”
