According to Variety‚ “Olivia Rodrigo has made good on her promise to expand awareness and access to reproductive healthcare‚ inviting the organization Right by You to distribute free emergency contraceptives‚ condoms and information about abortion to fans on her ‘Guts’ world tour. Concertgoers at her March 12 show in St. Louis‚ Mo.‚ were able to grab a package that includes two boxes of Julie – an emergency contraceptive that helps prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex – as well as cards with QR codes linking to abortion access resources and the Missouri Abortion Fund. Fans also reported free condoms and stickers being passed out.” In a video that aired prior to her tour launch‚ Rodrigo said‚ “For the North American life of the ‘Guts’ World Tour‚ I'll be partnering with the National Network of Abortion funds to help those impacted by healthcare barriers and getting the reproductive care they deserve.” Further‚ in 2022‚ following the overturning of Roe v. Wade‚ Rodrigo paused a concert to say‚ “Our body should never be in the hands of politicians. Kentucky lawmakers have passed bills that would cut funding from diversity‚ equity‚ and inclusion offices at state universities and rid the schools of admissions requirements that had students speak in favor of the dogma.A state Senate bill passed with a 67-7 vote that would have prohibited state schools from requiring students and faculty to "describe the attitude or actions in support of or in opposition to specific ideologies or beliefs" as part of their admissions procedure.When the bill was passed down to the state House‚ it was modified to take a stronger position against DEI programs as a whole. A ban of race-based scholarships was added to the bill‚ as was the elimination of funding for DEI offices and staff positions at state universities‚ SCNR reported.The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education would also be prohibited from approving any degree that requires coursework that contains "discriminatory concepts."That bill passed with a 68-18 vote and will move back to the Senate for approval.Republican state Rep. Jennifer Decker said that public institutions will need to "dismantle the misguided DEI bureaucracies" and "put an end to the failed‚ expensive and discriminatory DEI initiatives at our public post-secondary schools in Kentucky." Decker also noted that the bill would make schools "inclusive and welcoming to all‚" according to the Associated Press. "If I’m being wheeled into the emergency room to have brain surgery ... do I look around at the brain surgery team and say 'woah [sic]‚ is there diversity on this team?'" Republican state Senator John Schickel asked. INGREDIENTS: DRESSING 3 minced garlic cloves 2 raw egg yolks 1 can of minced anchovies in olive oil (use the oil in the mix) 2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (I like the Trader Joe’s variety) 1 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream or seed-oil-free mayonnaise) ½ cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Salt and pepper to taste SALAD Two large heads of romaine lettuce Sourdough croutons (optional) Cooked chicken (optional) INSTRUCTIONS: Combine all ingredients in a food processor or whip by hand until smooth. You can reduce the intensity by adding Greek yogurt or substitute to taste. I sometimes increase the intensity by using two cans of anchovies. Wash‚ dry‚ and chop your romaine lettuce. Add whichever other items you might enjoy (sourdough croutons or leftover rotisserie chicken‚ as I am wont to do). Toss dressing with everything else. Be careful not to over-toss; I find romaine becomes quite limp if not properly dried and if beaten to death. Enjoy!

A conservative broadcaster in the United Kingdom received an official government warning for not being impartial and having politicians appear on the network without on-screen opposition.GB News was warned by the Office of Communications that some of their news shows were not unbiased enough. After an investigation that began in the summer of 2023‚ GB News was found to have violated Ofcom's regulatory guidelines surrounding impartiality in a total of five broadcasts.Two episodes of "Jacob Rees-Mogg’s State of the Nation‚" two episodes of "Friday Morning with Esther and Phil‚" and one episode of "Saturday Morning with Esther and Phil" between May and June 2023 were the offending programs.Jacob Rees-Mogg‚ Esther McVey‚ and Philip Davies are all Conservative Party members of parliament."We found that host politicians acted as newsreaders‚ news interviewers or news reporters in sequences which clearly constituted news — including reporting breaking news events — without exceptional justification. News was‚ therefore‚ not presented with due impartiality‚" the regulator said‚ according to Variety."Politicians have an inherently partial role in society and news content presented by them is likely to be viewed by audiences in light of that perceived bias. In our view‚ the use of politicians to present the news risks undermining the integrity and credibility of regulated broadcast news‚" the government agency added.The U.K. regulator has rules surrounding fairness‚ impartiality‚ and bias; meaning the government decides whether or not a news broadcaster's presentation is fair enough.According to Ofcom‚ news channels must have "due impartiality" in their broadcasts. The Los Angeles Police Department recently formed a special task force to address an increase in burglaries targeting affluent neighborhoods‚ the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.Authorities are warning residents that “burglary tourism” has been on the rise over the last five years‚ with organized groups from South America entering the United States for the purpose of robbing homes.LAPD Chief Dominic Choi stated Tuesday‚ “I can tell you that we have a significant increase in burglaries from organized groups that are outside this country‚ that are coming into the country‚ and they are targeting high-end residents.”In some of those instances‚ the thieves exploit the tourist visa system‚ which does not require a background check to gain entry into the country.LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told the Times that the organized groups have become more active in recent months despite an overall decline in burglaries.“The number of crimes tied to these kind of crews are way‚ way up‚” he warned. “They often target homes often connected to open spaces‚ hiking trails‚ and canyons that give them access.”Hamilton noted that the thieves “tend to not carry guns” to avoid additional charges. However‚ he cautioned that they bring jamming devices to disrupt security systems. The South American gangs‚ mainly from Chile‚ Peru‚ Ecuador‚ and Colombia‚ target homes in wealthy neighborhoods where they steal jewelry‚ designer purses‚ and other high-value items. The stolen goods are sold for cash‚ and robbers send their profits back home. District Attorney of Orange County Todd Spitzer (R) stated that the Chilean government has refused to provide the U.S. government with the criminal history of its citizens who use the Electronic System for Travel Authorization to come into the country‚ despite being required to do so. As a result‚ prosecutors have a difficult time linking the thefts to organized gang activity‚ and they often receive a single charge for burglary‚ he explained.The Chilean Embassy in Los Angeles did not respond to the Times’ request for comment.The Irvine Police Department posted on social media Saturday‚ “Over the past 35 days‚ there have been 34 residential burglaries in Irvine. One trend we are seeing is suspects knocking down or disabling cameras. The second is suspects climbing to the second story and entering through a window or door.”The department urged residents to apply security film to glass doors and windows‚ install a security system‚ and place lights on a timer so the home looks occupied.
