Ready to ditch dating apps? 4 trusty ways to meet cute IRL

Ladies‚ why do we complain about dating apps? These days‚ finding a guy couldn't be easier! Simply write a few sentences that show how utterly unique you are among the hundreds of thousands of other girls who have also distilled their essence into a few sentences. But be careful: Nobody wants someone who's too unique. Post some pictures to go along with these sentences. Flirty‚ but not too forward. Sexy‚ but not trashy. Calibrate your outfit to land on the exact point of the sundress-to-bikini scale that will maximize matches while minimizing the wrong kinds of matches. Err on the side of more matches. Start matching. Harvest those dopamine spikes. Feel despair when most of the guys liking you aren't in your league. Start to question whether you're in the league you think you're in. Chat. Do you make the first move? Does he? If you do‚ develop crippling self-consciousness by imagining him and his friends mocking your carefully crafted opening (not basic‚ but not trying too hard either) the way you and your friends mock all the cringeworthy openers you get. If he does‚ suspend judgment in the interest of keeping the conversation going. Then: don't do anything that might derail things‚ like responding too quickly or too slowly or being too serious or too jokey. Above all‚ don't overthink it. It will most likely end in ghosting anyway. Get ghosted. Consider recalibrating picture a few degrees closer to "bikini." Meet up. Confirm that he isn't a psychopath catfishing you with a random fitness bro's pics. Register mild attraction. After ten minutes start scrounging for conversation at the bottom of the small-talk barrel; conclude that some light insanity might be acceptable. Rule him out in your head while smiling. Realize what would have taken ten minutes in person has cost you both a month and a half. If all that doesn't fill you with gratitude for being young and single in this era of miraculous mate-finding tech‚ I don't know what to tell you. Other than: "Put down your phone and join us outside the Matrix." Try the following suggestions for successful IRL mingling. Go to church Get prayed up and stay slayed up. Already have a church? Start going every week — "I wanted to sleep in" is going to sound really lame on Judgment Day. If you don't have a church‚ find one and commit. Join a group‚ serve in a ministry‚ sidle up to some eligible pew-mates. What better way to meet someone with the same core values? Get a hobby Master the basics of French cooking. Learn to dance for an upcoming wedding. Join a bocce league. Start taking improv classes — we won't judge. The point is that trying something new puts you in the company of others who are doing the same. And by removing the pressure to try someone new‚ it lets things happen more naturally Help others The secret hack to doing community service? You're allowed to enjoy it. I discovered this in high school as a volunteer at our local beach's sea turtle rescue center. Not only did I learn a lot (turns out TikTok videos about plastic straws are of limited value when it comes to #savingtheturtles)‚ but focusing on those crazy terrapins relieved me from dwelling on my own problems. While cultivating a little selflessness and gratitude is good in itself‚ it can also put you in the relaxed‚ receptive state of mind in which meeting people is easy. Leave it up to chance Previous generations had the courage that comes from scarcity: If a guy doesn't talk to that girl he's vibing with in the coffee shop line‚ who knows the next time he'll encounter a decent prospect? These days the overwhelming multitude of options at our fingertips means less incentive to risk in-person rejection. So let's do our part to encourage more daring romantic gestures. If a non-creepy guy at the grocery store or the gym walks up to you and says‚ “You are just so beautiful and I’d like to take you to coffee sometime” without triggering your fight-or-flight instinct‚ why not consider it? In short‚ ditching the swipe life can leave you with a much more manageable to-do list than the one that starts this article. It goes something like: Find something you love to do. Talk to people. Make friends. Learn to enjoy your own company. The more time you invest in this‚ the better your chances. There's not an app in the world that can promise the same.

Before you go see the new ‘Mean Girls’ movie‚ WATCH THIS

Twenty years ago‚ the world first met Cady Heron‚ Regina George‚ and the Plastics in "Mean Girls." Since then‚ the film has become a cult classic. However‚ the new "Mean Girls" adaptation‚ which was just released last Friday‚ has already left many disappointed‚ including Lauren Chen‚ who’s “a fan of the original.” “Guys‚ this is a bad movie‚” she sighs‚ noting that “someone beside [her] left the theater halfway through.” Unlike the original‚ which is chock full of hilarious‚ iconic moments‚ this new film “failed to make [Lauren] laugh out loud‚” despite the fact that “they kept a lot of the original jokes.” “It's hard to have a comedic performance that actually makes people laugh‚ and unfortunately‚ I feel like a lot of the actors in this film were chosen maybe because of their singing abilities‚ but the comedic performances just were not there‚” Lauren explains. For those who don’t know‚ the film‚ which features essentially the same plotline as the original – ”cliques‚ toxic mean girl situations‚ dating‚ [and] crushes” – is both a remake as well as a musical. Lauren admits that while “musical taste is subjective” and that “musical numbers can actually elevate a story or enhance a plotline‚” the music in the new "Mean Girls" adaptation is “extremely forgettable” and does “absolutely nothing” for the film. “In terms of how the actual songs sound‚ to be honest with you‚ I immediately forgot each and every one of them as soon as the song itself ended‚” she laments. Further‚ “there is no character or situation or scene that is enhanced by a musical number‚” and some of the songs even “undercut the best parts of the original movie.” For example‚ in the original film‚ one of the most climactic scenes occurs after the entire female population of the school is forced to attend a workshop due to the Plastics’ “Burn Book” being exposed. Regina runs out of the meeting after finding out that Cady was a double agent and that basically the entire school hates her. It’s a scene any person who’s seen the original will remember. However‚ the creators behind the new film decided to “cut that scene almost entirely and replace it with a song sung by Janice about female empowerment.” “In this song‚ which again replaces one of the most important interactions of the film ... Janice instead is singing about how basically gender roles are to blame for everything‚” says Lauren‚ pointing out the obvious virtue-signaling in the movie. On that same note‚ “it's been 20 years since the original ‘Mean Girls’ film‚ which of course means that everybody is browner and gayer in the remake‚” she adds. In addition to Damien being played by a black actor and Janice being a lesbian‚ “there were a lot of jokes about being gay that were also removed.” “In the original film‚ the message is not that it's okay to bully people for being gay‚” says Lauren. Rather‚ “the message is that it's not okay to be bullied for any reason‚ but I feel like in 2024‚ because we're so [politically correct]‚ we don't even want to have scenes where people are being bullied for being gay‚ even if it's to show that it's wrong just because you would have to bully a gay person to do that.” But that’s not the last of Lauren’s complaints. Illegal immigration isn’t just a crime — it’s an insult

Illegal immigration isn’t just a crime — it’s an insult

As the daughter of legal immigrants who undertook a lawful journey to bring their family to this land of freedom‚ opportunity‚ and prosperity‚ I find myself frustrated and disappointed as our southern border faces an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration. The crisis not only challenges the principles of fairness and justice but also endangers law-abiding Americans and casts a shadow over the sacrifices made by the many who worked hard to enter this country legally.Legal immigration is more than a bureaucratic process; it is a testament to a person’s commitment to the values and laws that define the United States. My family‚ like countless others‚ embraced this journey and navigated the system as they sought to contribute meaningfully to and ultimately realize the American dream. The border crisis diminishes the significance of these efforts and insults the very essence of legal immigration and the rule of law. Our judicial system is a major part of what makes America a beacon to the world. And yet hundreds of thousands of people every month blatantly disregard our laws to enter the country illegally. Far too many of these new arrivals have criminal histories or commit crimes after they get here. If they are so willing to ignore our immigration laws to enter the country‚ what can we assume about their commitment to the values and laws of our nation once they are inside?Unfortunately‚ it isn’t just illegal immigrants undermining law and order. It’s also our own federal government. The Biden administration has repeatedly proven to the American people‚ including countless upstanding legal immigrants like my parents‚ that our nation’s citizens and our laws are not a priority. Instead of securing our borders to uphold our federal immigration laws and empowering law enforcement to hold criminals accountable‚ the administration is trying to stop Texas from doing what the federal government refuses to do — protect the state and the nation. In fact‚ Joe Biden’s weaponized Department of Justice is suing Texas to stop enforcement of a new law that makes illegal immigration a state crime. The government contends that by criminalizing illegal immigration‚ Texas is exceeding its authority. The Justice Department promises to “pursue all appropriate legal remedies to ensure that Texas does not interfere with the functions of the federal government.”What functions would Texas be interfering with by criminalizing criminal behavior? The federal government is doing nothing to end the illegal immigration crisis‚ refusing even to acknowledge the criminal aspect. Instead‚ the government is exacerbating the crisis by downplaying the situation and turning a blind eye after having spent years inviting criminal behavior. Apparently‚ the state law threatens federal authorities’ ability to do nothing or make things worse‚ which says a great deal about whose interests they serve. Should the partisan Justice Department prevail in court‚ it would be a body blow to federalism and a victory for authoritarian government. The staggering increase in illegal immigrant crossings places an undue burden on law enforcement agencies and jeopardizes the safety of law-abiding communities and national security. Enforcement of immigration laws is not merely an abstract policy matter; it is a duty to protect those who have chosen to abide by the rules and contribute to the fabric of American society.Compounding the insult‚ illegal aliens enjoy a host of taxpayer-funded benefits and often take priority over American citizens. A recent report found that Texans paid $6.6 billion to provide education to illegal aliens in the state’s public schools for the 2022-23 school year‚ plus another $2.6 billion for related security costs‚ and $1.7 billion for related criminal justice costs. All of that money would be far better spent benefiting taxpaying citizens‚ rather than paying for the fallout of a manufactured border crisis. The southern border crisis not only challenges the integrity of our legal system but also disrespects the sacrifices made by those who followed the rules to become proud contributors to this great nation and who abide by its laws. We must stop sugarcoating the devastating effects of illegal immigration on American citizens and legal immigrants alike. Let’s stop pretending that this historic immigration crisis is somehow virtuous. That may be the biggest insult of them all.

Crooks set up fake car sale‚ try to rob pair who arrive for buy‚ cops say. But one victim has a gun — and a deadly aim.

Suspects set up a fake vehicle sale on Facebook Marketplace and tried to rob a pair who showed up for a possible transaction Monday in Peoria‚ Illinois‚ police told WMBD-TV.The problem — for the bad guys‚ that is — was that one of the victims was carrying a gun and showed off a deadly aim‚ at that. What are the details?Police said the purported sellers led the would-be buyers to an alley near the 2100 block of West Lincoln Avenue around 5 p.m.‚ the station said — after which bullets started flying.Once the two victims were in the alley‚ several people tried to rob them‚ police told WMBD. Amid a struggle‚ the would-be robbers fired shots — but so did one of the victims‚ the station said.At the end of things‚ that gun-toting victim fired a single shot‚ hitting one of the robbery suspects‚ police told WMBD‚ adding that the shot suspect died at the scene.“The investigation has determined that this was an attempted robbery setup‚ and there was no intention to sell a vehicle‚” a police department spokesperson told the station. What else? The victim who pulled the trigger is a legal gun owner in another state and has a license to carry from one state to another‚ WMBD said‚ adding that he was released without any charges. The station said police were still investigating the case‚ which the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office will review.“The Peoria Police Department would like to remind the public to remain vigilant during Marketplace type transactions‚" the police department spokesperson added to WMBD. "Use good judgment when it comes to selecting meetup locations that are highly visible and preferably under video surveillance. The parking lot and lobby of the police department are also available to conduct such transactions."Like Blaze News? Megyn Kelly on Trump's VP pick &; why she doesn't think Tucker Carlson and MAGA voters will like it

Megyn Kelly has a surprising prediction for Trump’s vice president pick — and she doesn’t think MAGA voters or Tucker Carlson will be happy about it. “Is it out of the realm of possibility that he chooses Haley? Absolutely not. It’s not. I realize that MAGA doesn’t want it. They’ve convinced themselves that Nikki Haley is against all the things that they stand for‚” Kelly tells Dave Rubin. However‚ Trump has to do what he has to do in order to win‚ and Haley might be the winning ticket. “He personally really must win if he doesn’t want to go to jail‚” Kelly explains. “If that’s your situation‚ I think you might be thinking‚ ‘MAGA is gonna get over Nikki Haley if I tell them to get over Nikki Haley.’” “I know for a fact that’s how Trump thinks‚” she adds. Kelly knows that Trump needs the moderates and independents if he’s going to win‚ and Haley would bring that voting base with her. “I could not agree more‚” Rubin agrees‚ adding‚ “When I see all these people that are suddenly like‚ 'No‚ he’ll never do it‚’ and/or‚ ‘I won’t vote for him if he chooses Nikki‚’ it’s like‚ you’ll do what Trump kind of tells you to do‚ actually.” Tucker Carlson is not a fan of Nikki Haley either and has recently discussed the increasing turn out of Democrats to the Republican voting booths. Biden has turned away those voters‚ and they’re now showing interest in Haley as a potential future president. Rubin speculates that if Trump chose Haley as vice president‚ Tucker might “actively campaign against him.” Kelly disagrees. “I think he’s going to come home to Trump. I think he’s going to do it under protest‚” she says.
