Now‚ I’m running to be your mayor. Because if we’re going to bring down crime‚ fix our streets‚ and bring good-paying jobs here‚ then Houston needs a champion who’s ready to fight for what’s right. And I am. — (@) There's just one problem — and it's a big one.After Jackson Lee finished making her case to voters‚ the ad directed voters to hit the polls on Dec. 7 — two days earlier than the actual date of the runoff‚ Dec. 9.Even worse: the ad did air in the Houston area‚ according to Mediaite. Talk about campaign misinformation.In a statement‚ Jackson Lee's campaign blamed news stations for the mistake."New ads were shipped out immediately. Once we were made aware we contacted our ad agency ... and they made the change and immediately sent them out‚" a campaign spokeswoman said. "The news stations did not pull the commercial as we had requested."Jackson Lee is running against Democrat John Whitmire‚ who has served as a Texas lawmaker in the state House or state Senate for the last 50 years.
