Humanity Is Pretty Much Screwed in Terminator Zero Trailer

News Terminator Zero Humanity Is Pretty Much Screwed in Terminator Zero Trailer What I choose is my choice, OK??? By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on July 31, 2024 Screenshot: Netflix Comment 0 Share New Share Screenshot: Netflix We finally have a full-blown trailer for the anime series Terminator Zero, which makes it very clear that this will be a very violent show. Set to the tune of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Disarm,” we see the protagonist’s flesh ripped from his body in a nuclear fallout as he clutches his children (don’t worry, it was just a dream). We see Skynet seeking to kill him in the past, in an attempt to prevent him from building a program meant to thwart the artificial intelligence’s quest to destroy humanity. And we also see that things will most certainly get dire, with no guarantee that humanity will make it out the other side. Good times! Here is the synopsis for Terminator Zero: Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children. The series has a lot of talent behind it. It’s showrun by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman II) and stars André Holland as Malcolm Lee, Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko, the soldier sent back in time, and Rosario Dawson as the AI system that Lee creates. Terminator Zero starts streaming on Netflix on Judgement Day. (August 29, 2024, in case you forgot.) Check out the trailer below. Japan’s Population Implosion Is an Economic Time Bomb

Editor’s note: This is a lightly edited transcript of the accompanying video from professor Peter St. Onge. Japan is running out of people. It will get worse—and we’re next. Last week, Japan’s government announced the country lost 861,000 people last year as the country’s fertility rate—the average number of babies a woman is expected to have in her lifetime—fell to a record low of 1.2. For perspective, if you start with 100 million people and have 1.2 babies each, after three generations, you’re down to just 20 million people. On a related note, over 65s now account for 30% of Japan’s population, while a new study finds there are 9 million vacant houses in Japan—about one in six homes in Japan is vacant and falling down. What’s driving it? As always, government. Namely, we’re running out of kids because slow growth and inflation force two-income families, while mandatory government pensions remove the main historical incentive to have kids—to support you in old age. If you’re struggling to make ends meet as it is, and if you don’t need kids when you’re old, you’ll delay or skip them altogether. And that’s exactly what happened in Japan: In the 1950s, Japanese women had on average three and a half children. In 1961, universal pensions were introduced, and the birthrate—and marriage rate—started dropping. Then came the 1970s inflation, which took the percent of young Japanese women working from 46% in 1969 to 83%. The finishing blow is the lost-decades stagnation, which forced even married women to work to make ends meet. The percentage of married Japanese women age 25 to 29—prime childbearing ages—who were working went from 50% in 2006 to 80% today. In fact, today in Japan there are more young women working than young men working. The government’s response has been to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic: One-time cash bounties, or the Left’s favorite, subsidized child care. Or, of course, importing new people. Sadly, none works. Immigrants bring their own labor shortage with them: They go out to eat, get their teeth cleaned, they stand in line at the doctor. Otherwise, we could just annex Canada and have millions of spare workers. Meanwhile, many European countries have tried both cash for babies and free child care, and it doesn’t work. Scandinavia, for example, has universal child care and the result is fertility rates of1.5 in Sweden and Denmark, 1.4 in Norway, and 1.3 in Finland. So, no, it’s not a lack of government spending; it’s the government spending itself that drives inflation and stagnant incomes to where there’s no financial cushion to start a family. Meanwhile, government pensions reward doing the bare minimum by equalizing payments and disincentivizing hard work. I’d guess with an assist from public education that, at least in the West, turns child against parent, leaving mom and dad wondering why they sacrificed so hard to raise people who despise them. So what’s next? Unfortunately, there’s no public policy cavalry coming. While voters might vaguely wish there were more babies in the world, that’s up against trillions of crony dollars driving the inflation-stagnation juggernaut. Fortunately, on a personal level, you don’t need a bureaucrat’s permission. In a dynamic economy, research says men actually make more once you have kids, because you work harder. This is called the “fatherhood wage premium,” and studies find it essentially covers the extra costs., research says men actually make more once you have kids, because you work harder. This is called the “fatherhood wage premium,” and studies find it essentially covers the extra costs. So, while the developed world turns out the lights, it’s your kids who will inherit the earth. Harris Cultivates Media Allies in Off-the-Record Schmoozefests

It’s funny how journalists admit Vice President Kamala Harris is getting a media honeymoon, and then deny it means anything. Ben Smith at Semafor sent an email noting “Republican fury” at the gushy pro-Kamala bias and claiming, “But who are we, and Republicans, kidding? I wish we had that kind of power. The news media can’t make and break politicians [even Democrats] anymore.” He wrote this right after weeks of a brutally negative media drumbeat that was part of driving President Joe Biden out of the race. Smith was promoting a July 28 Semafor article by reporter Max Tani titled “A more media-friendly Kamala Harris runs for president.” The Harris campaign is starting late, but for years now, Harris has been building relationships with her Democratic allies in the so-called mainstream media elite. We’re told she’s invited a “parade of prominent television anchors and media executives” to dine with her at the vice president’s home, the Naval Observatory, and has given “personal tours of her garden” to many journalists. Who might that be? In 2023, she hosted a dinner for “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who are currently the most shamelessly robotic DNC talking-points repeaters on television. She’s held similar off-the-record schmoozefests with “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker, the White House reporters for the Spanish-language networks Telemundo and Univision, and “all of the reporters—for a while, all women—in the front row of the Brady briefing room.” That would be ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, AP, Reuters, and … Fox News. On top of that, Tani dished that there were off-the-record meet-and-greets in Harris’ office with not just The New York Times but with writers for “fairly niche abortion Substacks.” Let’s guess that starts with staunch feminist Jessica Valenti, with her “Abortion, Every Day” blog. This kind of meeting establishes what the “off the record” game accomplishes. Journalists feel like they better “know” the politician, then can gush over “how they think” about things and feel good about their insider knowledge. When everyone in the room is a Democrat, the politician can explain what kind of spin they would like the servile journalists to convey. Maybe Harris told each one, “I am definitely not the border czar.” So, what media outlets does Kamala consume? It’s predictable: “Harris keeps the ritual that many Democratic Washington politicians do: casually tuning into ‘Morning Joe’ on the treadmill and elliptical,” with a nod to “morning broadcast news.” She “keeps the TVs in her office and on Air Force Two tuned to CNN.” You have to highlight the “reliable” liberal sources. Harris allegedly doesn’t gripe about individual stories, but we do learn she wasn’t happy with the media coverage on her 2019 presidential campaign. “Towards the end of her campaign, two people familiar [with Harris] told Semafor that Harris privately observed that it seemed like the networks were pigeonholing her by mostly assigning to Black embeds and staff to cover her.” It’s always curious when assigning black reporters to black politicians (or female reporters to female politicians, or gay reporters to gay politicians) is “pigeonholing” instead of a method to ensure media “empathy.” This statement stumbles into implying black is “second class.” The most fascinating media question in the next three months is: How many press conferences or interviews? The national newspapers were never granted a Biden interview. The voters can’t scrutinize you when your “media appearance” is chatting over breakfast burritos with Joe and Mika. Slap on a microphone and take some questions. Otherwise, we’ll continue the curious pattern of Donald Trump granting wide access despite being hammered, and the Democrat slamming the door on their allies. CNN Tries To Spin Trump Talking To Black Journalists As 'Controversial'

CNN senior national correspondent Sara Sidner did her best to make mountains out of molehills on Wednesday’s CNN Newsroom as she reported on a “controversial” news event. That controversy? Donald Trump speaking to the National Association of Black Journalists. Wasting no time trying to make something of Trump’s appearance, Sidner declared, “Now, what made this clear, that this is part of his, sort of, reach to black Americans, is a statement that he put out after it was announced that he would be speaking at NABJ, and there's certainly a lot of controversy around the fact that he is here and yet, the woman who could become the first black female American to become president is not here.”     Sidner would return to Harris in due course, but in the meantime she sought to do some preemptive fact-checking: Here's what Donald Trump said after it was announced that he would be speaking to this group of journalists. He said, 'President Trump's accomplished more for black Americans than any other president in recent history by implementing America First policies on the economy, immigration, energy, law and order, et cetera,' which of course can be disputed in the sense when it comes to the economy, when it comes to black Americans, yes, numbers did of unemployment went down during his administration, but they're even lower with the Biden Administration. Returning to the “controversy” surrounding Trump’s appearance, Sidner hyped, “The controversy still swirling where you are seeing people, members, someone who was the vice chair of the board of this conference, stepping down partly due to this decision to have only one of the candidates.” Sidner then undermined everything she just reported on, “The reason for the reason for the one candidate, NAJB says, is pretty clear, that they reached out to both candidates and they reached out to Kamala Harris before Joe Biden stepped down, they say, and that her coms people said, ‘Look, her schedule couldn’t accommodate this.’ She was not able to do it virtually, she was not able to do it in person, but Donald Trump ended up accepting, so they went with the candidate that said they could be here even though the other presumptive nominee cannot.” Whether Harris genuinely has a scheduling conflict or that is just an excuse to avoid questions doesn’t really matter. She was offered a spot, but she declined, so it is not Trump’s or the NABJ's fault he’s the only one showing up. Sidner then played a clip of NABJ President Ken Lemon defending the move to host Trump on the grounds that it provides them with a good opportunity to “vet the candidate right here on our ground.” Despite all that, however, Sidner still tried to gin up controversy, “And there are a couple of those controversies he has talked about Chicago very negatively over the years. So, we do expect there to be also protesters here who dislike Donald Trump's platform, but he's also called several black journalists, including our very intelligent Abby Phillip, ‘dumb and stupid’ that I'm sure will also be addressed, well, that's part of why the controversy is swirling here today.” With that, Sidner tried to imply that some of the criticism of Trump’s appearance is based on the idea that Trump is a racist, but as liberal Washington Post columnist Philip Bump pointed out in 2018, Trump calls everyone stupid: man, woman, black, white, Democrat, Republican, politician, actor, journalist, Trump is an equal opportunist in that respect. It should also be noted that Trump called Phillip's questions "stupid" and President Biden called white guy Peter Doocy a "stupid son of a bitch" in 2022.  Here is a transcript for the July 31 show: CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta 7/31/2024 10:10 AM ET SARA SIDNER: Look, it's pretty clear that if you're talking to the National Association of Black Journalists, you are looking to try and encourage black voters to come to your side. He will be sitting down with a panel of journalists from several different news organizations and ask questions. He will also, according to NABJ, be fact-checked in real time. Now, what made this clear, that this is part of his, sort of, reach to black Americans, is a statement that he put out after it was announced that he would be speaking at NABJ, and there's certainly a lot of controversy around the fact that he is here and yet, the woman who could become the first black female American to become president is not here.  Here's what Donald Trump said after it was announced that he would be speaking to this group of journalists. He said, “President Trump's accomplished more for black Americans than any other president in recent history by implementing America First policies on the economy, immigration, energy, law and order, et cetera,” which of course can be disputed in the sense when it comes to the economy, when it comes to black Americans, yes, numbers did of unemployment went down during his administration, but they're even lower with the Biden Administration. So, some of these things you'll hear in the fact-checks, that's what we're expecting today. But the controversy still swirling where you are seeing people, members, someone who was the vice chair of the board of this conference, stepping down partly due to this decision to have only one of the candidate, but the reason for the reason for the one candidate, NAJB says, is pretty clear, that they reached out to both candidates and they reached out to Kamala Harris before Joe Biden stepped down, they say, and that her coms people said, “Look, her schedule couldn’t accommodate this.”  She was not able to do it virtually, she was not able to do it in person, but Donald Trump ended up accepting, so they went with the candidate that said they could be here even though the other presumptive nominee cannot. Here is the justification that we’ve been hearing from the president of NAJB and remember, it’s National Association of Black Journalists, he points out the last word in their moniker. KEN LEMON: We have people whose lives are depending on what happens in November. For us as journalists, people who go into and have very uncomfortable conversations for the sake of our members. This is an important time. This is a great opportunity for us to vet the candidate right here on our ground and that's what we do. SIDNER: And there are a couple of those controversies he has talked about Chicago very negatively over the years. So, we do expect there to be also protesters here who dislike Donald Trump's platform, but he's also called several black journalists, including our very intelligent Abby Phillip, “dumb and stupid” that I'm sure will also be addressed, well, that's part of why the controversy is swirling here today.

At least 4 Olympic swimmers, including 2 Americans, test positive for COVID-19 but aren't sent home

Multiple swimmers, including two Americans, have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 but haven't been required to withdraw.Unlike previous years, the virus reportedly is being treated similarly to other respiratory viruses, multiple outlets report.'They are following all the protocols that we have.'According to outlet SwimSwam, American swimmers David Johnston and Luke Whitlock tested positive for COVID-19, and they were moved to a hotel off Olympic grounds where they will isolate. Coaches reportedly are closely monitoring the whole team since the two swimmers were staying in an Olympic Village apartment with five other teammates.Johnston has a few days to recover for his Saturday event, the men's 1500-meter freestyle.Whitlock already competed in his only event, the men's 800-meter freestyle; he placed 15th. He is experiencing only mild symptoms, which allegedly include a cough, an insider stated.A USA Swimming spokesperson told SwimSwam there is no mandatory masking or testing in place for American swimmers."We encourage our athletes to do whatever makes them the most comfortable, working with the team doctors," communications director Jake Grosser said.British 100-meter swimmer Adam Peaty tested positive Sunday night after winning a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke. "My heart is full," Peaty said after the event on an X post, which includes photos of him and his family. Yahoo Sports noted that Peaty swam more than two seconds slower than his personal best, speculating that the virus had an impact on his performance. The outlet also reported a noticeable number of coaches and staff wearing masks around the pool Tuesday morning, apparently due to concern over contracting COVID-19 with the virus seemingly spreading.Australian athletes appear to have had a more devastating run-in with the virus at the Olympics. After testing positive, 1500-meter competitor Lani Pallister withdrew from her freestyle heat Tuesday. Nearly a week prior, it was officially announced in an Olympics press release that five members of the Australian women's water polo team also tested positive but were not forced to withdraw.Australian Olympic team head Anna Meares said, "If those five athletes are feeling well enough to train, they will, and they are following all the protocols that we have." Meares also said the entire team had been tested. The team representative noted that the athletes have been isolating from other team members, but only when not training, and that they have been wearing masks. The treatment of COVID-19 in Paris contrasts starkly from previous games, such as the 2022 Beijing Olympics during which staff, athletes, and anyone else in a country's bubble were tested daily. As CNN reported at the time, fans from outside China were banned, and all athletes were required to be fully vaccinated or placed in quarantine for 21 days upon arrival in the country.Like Blaze News? Baphomet, drag queens, and the Olympics' SATANIC symbolism

The Olympics Games are no longer just a place for the greatest athletes in the world to prove that they are the greatest athletes in the world. As of 2024, it’s apparently now a place to openly mock Christianity and feature satanic symbolism. To kick off the turn from tradition, Snoop Dogg was featured in the Olympic parade — but his presence isn’t the only issue. The rapper wore a Baphomet necklace around his neck. Baphomet is a pagan god more recently adopted as a symbol for the Satanic Temple. “It is really disturbing to see this display, to see this made into some kind of golden image, golden idol that Snoop Dogg is wearing around his neck,” says Allie Beth Stuckey, BlazeTV host of “Relatable." Snoop Dogg also released a video a few years ago in which he depicted himself murdering Donald Trump. “He depicted himself murdering Donald Trump, murdering a sitting president, and we’ve decided that this person needs to be a mascot for the United States, he needs to carry the torch for America,” Stuckey adds. Snoop Dogg was joined in the parade by three French drag queens, and it only got worse from there. The opening ceremony featured a “drag queen Last Supper,” where the performers were seated in a configuration reminiscent of Jesus and his apostles. An overweight woman took Jesus’ place in the middle. Later, a nearly naked man, painted blue, appeared as a portrayal of Dionysus, the god of winemaking, vegetation, fertility, and ecstasy. Christians are understandably offended, despite critics claiming they simply have a “persecution complex.” “Even if that were the case, this is still a celebration of paganism. This is still a celebration of the subversion of the natural and the good and the beautiful,” Stuckey says. “They admit that this was supposed to be a celebration of promiscuity and indulgence.” “You are promoting ugliness. You are promoting disorder. You are promoting sin. You are promoting a kind of decadence and immorality that has led to the downfall of many societies before us and is currently leading to the decay and the destruction of the West today,” she adds.
