The prophet Isaiah warned a wayward nation: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness.” Right was condemned as wrong, and what darkened the soul was repackaged as enlightenment. Isaiah cautioned that rejecting God’s word would bring devastation. The warning still stands. Two developments last week expose the warning’s timeliness. For years, activists in media and government have advanced a gender ideology that tells even children they can choose an identity opposite of their biological reality. That confusion is not benign. In Minneapolis, a gunman opened fire during a school Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church, killing two children and injuring many others. Police identified the attacker as Robert Westman, who identified as transgender and, in notes posted before the attack, expressed regret and anger about “being trans” and deep confusion about identity. This is not isolated. Recall the Covenant School massacre in Nashville, and now we have Minneapolis—both carried out by individuals who identified as transgender. The point is not to stigmatize anyone; it is to confront a reality our culture keeps trying to deny: ideas have consequences and masquerading a lie as the truth can be deadly. Yet rather than pause to reassess the narrative, legacy outlets scolded themselves for “misgendering.” NBC News even issued a correction after its initial report used what it called the wrong pronoun when referring to Westman as “he.” “She used female pronouns,” NBC sycophantically stated. This, despite law enforcement identifying the killer as male. What a commentary on the press. Apologizing for mistakenly telling the truth reflects a deeper malady: trading evil for good and darkness for light. And when this deception is celebrated, children suffer. A civilization cannot protect what it refuses to name, and language becomes a veil for violence. Still, the media is not the fountainhead of this confusion; they are its amplifiers. The deeper problem is philosophical. If truth is now established by feelings, then law must enforce the feelings. That brings us to this week’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., berated a State Department nominee for affirming the American principle that our rights come from God, not government—calling that view “very, very troubling,” and likening it to the ideology of Iran’s theocracy. Think about that: the creed of the Declaration recast as dangerous and akin to the rule of the Ayatollahs. Our Founders knew better. Thomas Jefferson wrote that we are “endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” Alexander Hamilton insisted the “sacred rights of mankind” are “written, as with a sunbeam, by the hand of the Divinity itself” and cannot be erased by mortal power. Governments secure rights; they do not invent them. And when government presumes to redefine reality—whether human nature or human rights—it imperils the very people it claims to protect. So here is the choice: return to first principles—truth over ideology, reality over rhetoric, the Creator over the state—or keep stumbling in the dark while calling it light. Israel has reportedly branded her group of ‘activists’ as terrorists and warned they will be arrested. As you may recall, Greta’s first attempt to sail to Palestine was thwarted in June when she was caught by the Israeli military and deported back home. Daily Mail has more: The 22-year-old Swedish climate firebrand is part of a controversial convoy of around 350 activists and aid workers, sailing on what they describe as a ‘peaceful mission’ to deliver supplies to Palestinians in Gaza. But reports have emerged overnight that one of the vessels – the so-called Family Boat, flying under a Portuguese flag and carrying members of the flotilla’s Steering Committee, including Greta – was attacked ‘by a drone and caught fire’ off the coast of North Africa. A dramatic video posted by fellow activist Yasemin Acar on Instagram showed the aftermath of the incident, as she declared: ‘The Family boat has been officially attacked – a drone came right above it, released a bomb and it exploded and the boat was on fire. Everyone on that boat is ok. The fire is out.’ She added that the ship, which was sailing in Tunisian waters, carried many of the same people who were detained with Greta during an earlier attempt to reach Gaza in June. ‘They have bombed a boat with civilians on it in Tunisian territory. This is an attack against Gaza because they don’t want us there. So we need you to mobilise. Let’s not stay quiet,’ she said. The boat reportedly only incurred minor damage. The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), the group behind the mission, later confirmed the suspected attack, saying in a statement: ‘The Global Sumud Flotilla confirms that one of the main boats, known as the ‘Family Boat’ – that was carrying GSF Steering Committee members – was struck by what is suspected to be a drone. ‘The boat was under the Portuguese flag and all passengers and crew are safe. An investigation is currently underway and when more information is available it will be released immediately. ‘Acts of aggression aimed at intimidating and derailing our mission will not deter us. Our peaceful mission to break the siege on Gaza and stand in solidarity with its people continues with determination and resolve.’ While no nation has officially claimed responsibility for the incident, Israel has previously described the flotilla’s volunteers as ‘terrorists’, warning that they would be subject to arrest if they attempted to breach the naval blockade. YNetNews shared Greta Thunberg’s response to the supposed drone strike on her boat: Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who since the outbreak of the Gaza war has turned her focus toward campaigning against Israel, released a video on her social media channels in which she said: “I am currently at the port in Tunisia after one of our boats, carrying humanitarian aid, was bombed.” Thunberg added: “The boat was part of a humanitarian mission, one of several vessels on their way to Gaza to break the illegal blockade. My friends and I were not on the boat when it was bombed, but others were. It was bombed in Tunisian territory. This is yet another attack aimed at preventing us from reaching Gaza, breaking the siege and silencing those who stand in solidarity with Palestine. Yet, after his fourteenth or-so arrest, this judge let him loose on the streets. Meet Teresa Stokes. The judges pretended to protect society while enabling murder. At least he was honest. The dishonest ones are on the bench. So, you might be wondering: given his history and diagnosis with schizophrenia, why did Judge Stokes release him? Was she just dumb? Was it racially-motivated? Well, according to the judge, she released him on no-cash bail all because of a “promise” he made her. Daily Mail reported: The North Carolina judge who released a career criminal that went on to stab a Ukrainian refugee has been slammed for allowing him to be out on the streets. Magistrate Judge Teresa Stokes freed Decarlos Brown Jr. in January – around seven months before police say he went on to slaughter Iryna Zarutska on August 22. Stokes allowed Brown, 34, who is homeless and has a litany of previous arrests – including for armed robbery and assault – to walk free on a ‘written promise’ that he would return for his next court appearance. Brown was arrested on January 19 for alleged ‘misuse of the 911 system’, after he dialed the emergency number while police were conducting a welfare check on him. During the ordeal, Brown, who is schizophrenic, told police he thought that ‘man made’ materials were inside his body controlling his movements. ‘Brown wanted officers to investigate this “man-made” material that was inside of his body,’ the arrest affidavit reads. ‘Officers advised Brown that the issue was medical issue and that there was nothing further they could do.’ This response sent Brown into a rage, and he called 911. Officers arrested him and charged him with a misdemeanor. Even Brown’s mother said the court system failed the community by allowing him to roam free despite his serious mental health issues, according to Newsweek. She said he was placed under psychiatric monitoring for two weeks after she secured an involuntary commitment order when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2014. The desperate mother said that he became so aggressive that she had to kick him out of her home. Brown’s lengthy history of run-ins with the law also includes assaulting his sister in 2021, leaving her with minor injuries, and armed robbery in 2014. Despite these crimes, and Brown being a potential flight risk because he was not fixed to any set address, Stokes released him during his court hearing about the 911 call. A document outlining the condition of his release seen by the Daily Mail shows that it was authorized with only a ‘written promise to appear’ at his next court hearing. The court memo from Mecklenburg County includes Stokes’ signature, and one of Brown’s many mugshots showing him looking dazed with his eyebrows raised. Okay, so she let him go because he promised to be a good boy and return for his next court date. Utterly ridiculous.
