Roman Circus Discovered in Northern Spain Could Host 5000 People

A large Roman venue hosting horse-drawn chariot races in antiquity has been found in northern Spain at the Iruña-Veleia site. Situated 10 kilometers from Vitoria-Gasteiz, it was found to contain a Roman circus measuring 280 meters (approximately 920 feet) in length, capable of seating around 5,000 spectators! This finding, revealed by the excavation leaders using remote sensing techniques, highlighted the outlines of the stands and the circus. Iruña-Veleia: Roman Circus Town? The discovery suggests that Iruña-Veleia was more significant than previously believed. This announcement was made by Basque institutions and Arkikus archaeology company leaders, brothers Iker and Javier Ordoño, who first identified signs of the circus in 2020 using aerial photographs and helped by their color blindness, reports Arkikus, who’re carrying out the investigation. The researchers explained that:  “It gives an idea of the importance that Iruña-Veleia had. Not just anyone had a circus like this, with 280 meters it's like having three soccer fields lined up one behind the other.” The discovery was enabled through "surface remote sensing of the site via historical and modern aerial photographs, LiDAR laser scanner mapping, and drone images." Insider Claims ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Longtime Host, Pat Sajak, Was ‘Forced’ To Retire

Pat Sajak, the long-time host of Wheel of Fortune, has retired from the show, paving the way for Ryan Seacrest to take over his iconic role. Sajak, who began hosting the beloved game show in 1981, dedicated over four decades to his job, making him one of the longest-serving game show hosts in television history. His tenure on the show left an indelible mark, with his genial presence and quick wit becoming synonymous with the program. However, the 77-year-old’s retirement has sparked considerable speculations. While the official narrative presents his departure as a natural and voluntary transition, some insiders hinted at a more complex story, claiming that Sajak may have faced pressure to step down amid changing dynamics on the show. Insider says Pat Sajak is not happy about his retirement Instagram A source with intimate knowledge about the gameshow has disclosed that the longtime host is visibly displeased with his retirement. The insider explained that the host’s unhappiness is deeply rooted in his perception of the circumstances leading him to leave the show. RELATED: Ryan Seacrest Takes Fans Behind The Scenes On His ‘Wild’ First Day As ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Host After dedicating decades of his career to the show, he feels profound betrayal and frustration as he believes he has poured his heart and soul into making the show successful, only to be unceremoniously pushed aside. Instagram Insider says Pat Sajak might not be willing to guide his successor, Ryan Seacrest The source revealed that although it is traditional for  Sajak to mentor his successor, the 77-year-old seems quite reluctant to do so. He justifies his stance by stating that he doesn’t want to interfere with Seacrest’s work. Instagram The insider added that even if Seacrest were to seek advice or tips from Sajak, there is no assurance that he would provide the requested guidance as it seems that the former host has adopted a wait-and-see attitude. They add that Sajak may simply resort to observing from a distance to see how the new host will manage the duties that come with being the face of the beloved game show.
