Pop star Sabrina Carpenter drew criticism earlier this month with the release of her music video for “Feather.” The video‚ which includes provocative dancing‚ skimpy outfits‚ and death-related imagery including fake blood‚ was filmed inside Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Catholic church in Brooklyn. Since the resulting scandal ensued‚ the priest responsible for allowing Carpenter and her team to film inside his church has been relieved of administrative duties‚ as The Daily Wire previously reported. Msgr. Jamie J. Gigantiello apologized to the bishop‚ the Diocese‚ and parishioners for the “shameful representation” in the video‚ saying he “whole-heartedly” renounced it. Now the 24-year-old singer‚ who has been on tour with Taylor Swift for several months‚ shared a few thoughts about the controversy. “We got approval in advance‚” Carpenter told Variety about the video shoot in an interview published Wednesday. She also made a reference to her last name‚ telling the outlet‚ “And Jesus was a carpenter.” The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn has taken the situation very seriously. They shared a statement with the Catholic News Agency‚ that said‚ “The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property‚ which includes a review of the scenes and script.” Following the music video’s release‚ the bishop celebrated a Mass of Reparation at the church to “[restore] the sanctity” and “[repair] the harm.” The music video for the song “Feather” included scenes shot both inside and outside the church. Carpenter is seen dancing in a skimpy outfit amid decorations on top of and around the altar. Their coffins become part of the props. Gigantiello told the New York Times that the video was “not what was initially presented” to him after he approved the filming. He said he allowed Carpenter’s team to use the church in an “effort to further strengthen the bonds between the young creative artists who make up a large part of this community.”

Disney CEO Bob Iger shared his thoughts on why he believes the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) installment‚ “The Marvels‚” was such a disappointment at the box office. “The Marvels” earned just $47 million domestically over opening weekend‚ making it the lowest-ever opening for a Marvel movie. The low numbers have been blamed on general superhero fatigue and fallout from the recent actors and writers strikes‚ which affected promotional plans. Iger said prioritizing quantity over quality was also a major factor. “Quality needs attention. … It doesn’t happen by accident. Quantity‚ in our case‚ diluted quality‚” the media exec said on Wednesday at the New York Times’ DealBook Summit in New York‚ per NBC News. He also mentioned how “The Marvels” was filmed during the COVID pandemic‚ which meant less oversight.  “There wasn’t as much supervision on the set … where we have executives there really looking over what’s being done‚” Iger said. Iger was formerly the CEO of Disney from 2005 until 2020. He was replaced by Bob Chapek and then reinstated to his position in November 2022 when Chapek got fired. The company behind “Dry Bar Comedy” and “The Chosen” decided to expand from TV to theatrical titles‚ and it felt “Freedom’s” heroic saga would be a snug fit with its adherents. Sound of Freedom | Angel Studios The studio’s second official film release earned $184 million stateside ($247 million worldwide)‚ surpassing “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny‚” “Fast X‚” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1” and “The Flash.” How? Angel Studios embraced a “pay if forward” ticket-buying model‚ along with a keen sense of what its fan base craves in a story. Total disruption from a studio with just two film titles to its credit. Even more impressive? Major media outlets savaged “Sound of Freedom” in cartoonish fashion‚ but the sour press only made the project feel more rebellious and necessary. The documentary from Minnesota-based Alpha News shredded key narratives following the death of George Floyd in 2020 in calm‚ reasonable tones.  The film would be the toughest pitch possible on Netflix‚ Hulu‚ or other streaming giants. So Alpha News dropped it‚ free of charge‚ on Rumble. The film racked up north of 2 million views in under two weeks. Dinesh D’Souza is one of the most successful documentary filmmakers of the modern era. Yet he embraced a hybrid approach to sharing “Police State” with the public. The film earned a brief theatrical release‚ shifted swiftly to a virtual/online premiere and then transitioned once more to Rumble and Locals.com‚ two free speech platforms. Comedians also leaned into the year’s disruptive spirit. More comedians skipped the mainstream entirely‚ preferring to release comedy specials on YouTube‚ Rumble‚ and even OnlyFansTV. The latter let veteran comic Whitney Cummings weigh in on trans issues without fear of being censored. Comic Shane Gillis enjoyed his biggest year to date‚ long after NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” hired‚ and swiftly canned him for a strained comedy routine aimed at Asian-Americans. Even mainstream media outlets admitted Gillis emerged bigger than ever following the “SNL” debacle‚ proving comedians no longer need the sketch comedy showcase to break out in a big way. Since getting fired from “Saturday Night Live” in 2019 after videos surfaced of him using Asian and gay slurs on a podcast‚ Gillis has built perhaps one of the fastest growing comedy careers in America …He regularly sells out theaters. MSNBC is reportedly canceling the weekend show of radical opinion host Mehdi Hasan as it looks to shake things up with a new lineup. The far-left network announced the move to staff on Thursday morning‚ Semafor reported‚ adding that Hasan will now become “an on-camera analyst and fill-in host.” Hasan’s Peacock streaming series is also coming to an end. The network will launch a new show called “The Weekend” on Saturdays and Sundays and make other changes to take over Hasan’s time slot. The changes are effective January 13‚ 2024. Deadline reported that the show will be hosted by liberal Republican Michael Steele‚ former Biden administration official Symone Sanders-Townsend‚ and Alicia Menendez‚ whose father‚ Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ)‚ is under federal criminal investigation over an alleged foreign bribery scheme. “The Weekend will provide thoughtful analysis and coverage from three trusted voices familiar to the MSNBC audience‚” the network said in a press release. “The program will deliver in-depth commentary and thought-provoking conversations on the state of democracy‚ particularly as the 2024 presidential election kicks off. It will also feature interviews with newsmakers‚ including reporters‚ thought leaders and politicians.” Hasan frequently attacks Israel and has gone as far as to defend anti-Semitic Boycott‚ Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns. Israeli advisor Mark Regev slammed Hasan during an interview earlier this month for promoting “disinformation” on his show‚ claiming that Israel had turned down a deal to have hostages freed. On Wednesday night‚ pro-Palestinian demonstrators fought with officers from the New York Police Department while trying to disrupt the annual lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Ahead of the event‚ pro-Palestinian groups had issued a “call for action‚” in which they insisted “Jesus was a Palestinian‚” rather than Jewish. The call for action stated‚ “Flood The Tree Lighting‚” using “flood” in an apparent reference to the name Hamas terrorists used for the October massacre of Israelis‚ “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.” Prior to the event‚ a spokesman for the NYPD’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau stated‚ “We do anticipate that there will be protests in the city on Wednesday — to include around the area of the tree lighting — and at future gatherings around the city in the days and weeks to come‚ as we have seen over the past seven weeks. The NYPD will be on hand to protect the tree lighting and all those attending‚ and we will not tolerate disruption or any threats to public safety.” Some of the demonstrators actively fought with police‚ with some of the rioters yelling‚ “Shut it down‚” while others broke through police barricades. One man masked in a keffiyeh burned an NYPD hat‚ and one taunted NYPD officers‚ yelling‚ “Do you want to get shot now? Which one of y’all want to get Derek Chauvin’d? I’d give you that Chris Dorner treatment real quick!” Chris Dorner was a former officer of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) who committed revenge killings targeting the LAPD that left four people dead. An FBI agent was carjacked in Washington‚ D.C.‚ on Wednesday‚ according to authorities‚ adding another high-profile incident in the nation’s capital this year in which rampant crime has impacted federal officials and their families. Law enforcement sources told ABC News the victim‚ identified as a special agent‚ was driving a blue Chevy Malibu that contained the agent’s body armor and radio when the vehicle was stolen at gunpoint in the afternoon near the 1200 block of Constitution Avenue NE. The FBI released a statement to media in the evening that said‚ “At this time‚ we can confirm that an FBI employee was carjacked on the afternoon of November 29. The vehicle was recovered‚ and the FBI Washington Field Office and the Metropolitan Police Department’s Carjacking Task Force are investigating.” D.C. police said the federal agent reported two suspects taking the vehicle and the car was found in the 1000 block of 15th Street SE about 25 minutes after officers were called to respond‚ according to NBC Washington. As of late Thursday morning‚ there were no updates on any arrests. The Daily Wire reached out to the FBI and D.C. police seeking the latest information. Crime is surging across the nation’s capital in 2023‚ affecting people from all walks of life and prompting a push to implement harsher penalties. Preliminary police data show more than 6‚300 reports of auto thefts — which amounts to roughly a 93% spike compared to this time last year — and 911 “carjacking offenses” while violent crime has also risen. Car theft is so rampant in D.C. that local officials recently began handing out free tracking tags for residents to put in their cars in case the vehicles get stolen. Hugh Grant is once again sharing his unfiltered thoughts with the public‚ this time telling the world how much he “hated” his role of an Oompa Loompa in the new “Wonka” movie.
