NBA launches investigation into allegations against Thunder guard Josh Giddey

The NBA is looking into allegations that Oklahoma City Thunder shooting guard Josh Giddey‚ 21‚ had an inappropriate relationship with a minor. The age of consent in Oklahoma is 16. According to the Daily Mail‚ provocative videos and pictures appeared on social media earlier this week showing Giddey with a girl of unknown age. One image that allegedly shows the Australian native with the girl is captioned‚ "just f***ed josh giddey." ESPN indicated that a since-deleted viral post from an anonymous poster whose account has been deactivated alleged the girl was a high school junior around the time the pictures were taken. NBA spokesman Mike Bass spokesman confirmed the league was investigating the matter‚ reported the Athletic. When asked about the allegations at practice on Friday‚ both Giddey and Thunder coach Mark Daigneault declined to comment. Daigneault responded‚ "Personal matter and I have no comment on it. And that will be my answer on anything related." "I understand the question‚ obviously‚" Giddey told reporters. "No further comment right now." When pressed further‚ Giddey said‚ "I get the question guys. I completely understand you guys want to know about it. But just for right now‚ I don't have anything to say." — (@) Giddey‚ the first NBA Global Academy graduate to be selected in the NBA draft‚ was the No. 6 pick in 2021. He is presently averaging 12.3 points‚ 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. The 11-4 Thunder play Saturday against the visiting 76ers. Like Blaze News? Derek Chauvin‚ ex-cop convicted of killing George Floyd‚ stabbed in prison‚ may have required 'life-saving measures': Report

Derek Chauvin‚ the former Minneapolis police officer who was convicted of killing George Floyd‚ was seriously injured in a stabbing attack at the facility where he is currently serving his sentences‚ the Associated Press reported. On Friday‚ Chauvin‚ 47‚ was stabbed by a fellow inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson‚ Arizona‚ a medium-security prison with about 380 inmates‚ a source familiar with the matter told the AP. The source spoke about the incident with the AP on the condition of anonymity as the source was not authorized to speak publicly about the details‚ the outlet said. The Bureau of Prisons did issue a statement confirming that an inmate at FCI Tucson had been assaulted by a fellow prisoner around 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon‚ but the agency did not confirm the identity of the victim. The guards on duty soon got the incident under control before performing "life-saving measures" on the wounded inmate‚ who was later transported to the hospital for further treatment‚ the statement said. The current status of the injured inmate‚ believed to be Chauvin‚ is unclear. No other FCI inmates or guards were injured in the incident‚ which has been reported to the FBI‚ the AP said.Neither Chauvin's lawyers nor the FBI responded to the AP's requests for comment. In spring 2021‚ a Minnesota jury convicted Chauvin of second-degree murder‚ third-degree murder‚ and second-degree manslaughter for the death of George Floyd in May 2020 and sentenced him to 22.5 years in prison. About eight months later‚ Chauvin pled guilty to federal charges of violating Floyd's civil rights and was sentenced to 21 years in prison.Chauvin began serving the concurring sentences at a maximum-security prison in Minnesota‚ where he spent much of his time in solitary confinement to protect him from the general prison population‚ his lawyer Eric Nelson said in court documents. Chauvin was then transferred to the Tucson prison in August 2022. Just last week‚ the United States Supreme Court rejected Chauvin's bid to appeal his murder conviction. Even though he pled guilty in the federal case against him‚ Chauvin is still attempting to have that conviction overturned on appeal as well‚ citing new evidence that he did not cause Floyd's death. This is a developing story.
