The US does not agree to a cease-fire in Gaza

FOREIGN. The United States and other Anglo-Saxon countries reject calls for a ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Palestine war.

The number of reported dead in Israel's bombing of Gaza has reached over 5,800, and more than a third of these are children.

Queen Rania of Jordan has appealed to the so-called international community to work for an immediate ceasefire during the ongoing humanitarian disaster.

- We are told that it is wrong to shoot a family dead, but it is okay to bomb them to death. And it is shocking for the Arab world, says the queen.

But the US does not consider any ceasefire appropriate. And now the superpower is being supported in its stance by its liberal northern neighbor Canada.

- I have no expectations that a terrorist organization would respect international law or any call for a ceasefire, says Canada's Defense Minister Bill Blair, according to BBC News.

He continues:

- Frankly speaking, Hamas must be eliminated as a threat, not only to Israel but to the world.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned on Tuesday what he called "clear violations" in Gaza. He also stated that Hamas' attack on Israel did not arise "out of a vacuum" and pointed out that the Palestinians had lived "under occupation for 56 years". This has prompted Israel's UN ambassador Gilad Erdan to call for Guterres' resignation.
