Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Takes Place 300 Years After Last Film‚ Potential Start of New Trilogy

We’ve known for a while that the latest installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise took place a least a few decades after the last trilogy of films‚ which ended with 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Today we found out‚ however‚ that this movie isn’t decades in the future‚ but centuries. According to Empire‚ the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes‚ directed by Wes Ball‚ will take place 300 years in the future. That means that the protagonist of the three recent films—Caesar (Andy Serkis)—is long gone‚ and his legacy is largely forgotten. “Noa has no idea who that is‚” Owen Teague told Empire‚ referring to his starring character‚ the ape who has to rediscover Caesar’s teachings about apes working together. “Part of his journey is a discovery of that legacy and its various interpretations. Noa has to make sense of what it all means.” There is a character named Caesar in the movie—an ape who apparently remembered the original’s teachings and takes the name Proximus Caesar‚ though Empire warns that the character doesn’t have the betterment of ape-kind at heart. “Caesar is almost a religious figure‚ and Proximus has taken on the name Caesar because it was the highest position held in ape society‚” said Kevin Durand‚ who plays Proximus. “It was a self-proclamation that was achieved by any means necessary‚ to ensure that apes continue to evolve. So you’re seeing the influence and the evolution of what Caesar left. And‚ like in every morsel of human history‚ there’s always some type of tyrant who comes along and scares everyone into believing them.” This upcoming film‚ as Ball told Empire‚ is also just the first installment of a new story. “From the beginning‚ we thought about this as a trilogy‚” he said. He added: “Those last three movies were about the end of something. They were about the end of this Moses story. They were about the end of humanity‚” he explained. “And we thought‚ ‘From the ashes of those previous movies‚ we’re gonna grow a new tree to climb.’ This movie is very much about the beginning of something.” Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes premieres in theaters on May 24‚ 2024.

Let’s Be Clear—This Is About Joe Biden‚ Not Hunter Biden

Let’s Be Clear—This Is About Joe Biden‚ Not Hunter Biden

When Rep. James Comer wondered on CNN whether special counsel David Weiss had indicted Hunter Biden on nine tax-related charges to protect him from having to be deposed in the House Oversight Committee and Accountability‚ Jake Tapper snarkily responded: “Yes‚ the classic rubric. He indicted him to protect him. I got it.” Well‚ yes. Indicting a person on lesser charges can often protect him from more serious ones. It happens all the time. In this case‚ though‚ “him” isn’t Hunter. It’s President Joe Biden. Weiss failed to indict Hunter for failing to register as a foreign agent or failing to pay taxes on the millions that flowed from those arrangements. Why? Probably because any investigation into Hunter’s $17 million foreign influence-peddling business—which Weiss has scrupulously avoided—leads to the president of the United States answering lots of awkward queries about his connection to disreputable people and authoritarian regimes. There is no Hunter Biden case without Joe. There is no Biden Inc. without Joe. Hunter’s laptop—the one that the New York Post got its hands on‚ and that Tapper and others attempted to cover up—was crammed with texts and emails in which the son references his dad’s role in securing payments and taking cuts from the business. Any genuine investigation into the 20-plus shell companies set up by James Biden‚ Joe’s brother‚ and Hunter would compel lots of people to answer questions on the record or under oath. Weiss conveniently allowed some of these infractions to pass the statute of limitations‚ but some have not. Hunter pulled in $1 million a year from Burisma from the years 2014-2017‚ while Joe was forging American policy in that nation. It’s only a weird happenstance‚ not a massive conflict of interest‚ that the sitting vice president’s decisions may have aided the oil concern while his son was being paid. Hunter’s salary fell to roughly $500‚000 annually from 2017-2019‚ after Joe was out of the White House. Another weird coincidence. But the president’s son also had a 10% stake in a Chicom investment fund named BHR Partners from 2013-2021. Joe flew him to China to set it up‚ met one of the partners‚ and then wrote a letter of recommendation for the man’s kid. All completely innocent‚ no doubt. Let’s not forget‚ either‚ that without the IRS whistleblowers coming forward‚ Hunter would probably have escaped any charges. And let’s also not forget that without U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika putting the kibosh on it‚ Weiss would have allowed Hunter’s lawyers to write an extraordinary plea agreement that not only would have ensured the president’s name wouldn’t be dragged into the investigation‚ but it would have let Hunter plead out to two of the least consequential charges—with virtually no punishment—in exchange for blanket. At every turn‚ Weiss is protecting Joe. Then again‚ this is about Hunter insomuch as all of this can be politically disastrous for the president. On the Sunday talk shows‚ the president’s defenders portrayed Hunter Biden as a lost man struggling to overcome drug addiction and Joe Biden as the loving father‚ who had recently lost his other son‚ there to help. Others contended that Hunter was the real victim of an overzealous prosecution. Hunter is a middle-aged Yale-educated lawyer‚ international lobbyist‚ foreign energy consultant‚ millionaire‚ and celebrated artist‚ whose work can go for upward of half a million dollars. The jails are strewn with Americans who have far more tragic stories to tell. Do they get to write off sex club memberships‚ prostitutes‚ and hotel rooms for his drug dealers? Would you? Moreover‚ Hunter continued cheating on his taxes after he had supposedly gone clean and remarried. He set up his influence-peddling schemes before his brother Beau died—not in combat‚ as the president often claims‚ but from a brain tumor. When ordinary Americans are being audited by the new supercharged IRS‚ or spending hours struggling to figure out the square-footage formula used to write off their home office in their 1040s‚ I hope they remember that Democrats believe Joe and Hunter are the real victims here. At any rate‚ Weiss knows‚ despite the media’s insistence‚ that Joe doesn’t need to directly benefit from his family’s foreign ventures to corrupt himself—though there is plenty of circumstantial evidence that he did. If one of the most powerful men in the United States government participates in a scheme—or allows people to believe he is offering access—that makes millions for his entire family‚ it may or may not be illegal‚ but it is corrupt. And any investigation that leads to those questions is a disaster for the president. COPYRIGHT 2023 CREATORS.COM The Daily Signal publishes a variety of perspectives. Boom Boom: Out Go the Lights!

Ruling like the dictator whom he says Donald Trump aspires to be‚ President Joe Biden has decreed restrictions‚ if not prohibitions‚ on gas stoves‚ gas furnaces‚ gasoline-powered cars and trucks‚ and other products. Congress has passed no such laws for Biden to sign. Instead‚ he has acted unilaterally‚ as despots do. Emperor Biden further expects Americans to replace these fossil-fueled mechanisms with electric counterparts. But what will propel these items as they draw electricity from America’s already fragile grid? Team Biden has not gotten that far. To the contrary‚ it is hammering major sources of voltage‚ even while trying to coerce into existence the Electric States of America. What Biden’s approach boasts in authoritarianism‚ it lacks in coherence. Biden’s “Climate!” guru‚ John Kerry‚ attended the just-concluded COP28 global-warming hoe-down in Dubai. Some of its 80‚000 participants got delayed en route‚ as their private jets bogged down as 17 inches of snow closed Munich’s airport. Kerry soldiered forth and soon declared that “There shouldn’t be any more coal power plants permitted anywhere in the world.” He added: “I do not understand how adults who are in a position of responsibility can be avoiding responsibility for taking away those things that are killing people on a daily basis.” When coal took a break from its homicides du jour‚ it also yielded 19.7% of U.S. electricity in 2022‚ according to Biden’s own Energy Information Administration. Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency unveiled edicts on Dec. 2 that would clamp down on methane emissions from new and existing oil and gas wells. Methane and natural gas are essentially interchangeable. So‚ this bid to reduce 58 million tons of methane through 2038 is a barely disguised billy club to beat down the natural gas industry. Never mind that‚ last year‚ 39.9% of U.S. electricity came from natural gas. My Fox News colleague Liz Peek reports that these new regulations could padlock “8% to 10% of natural gas production.” She also mocked COP28 as “the Super Bowl of virtue signaling.” Biden’s Council on Environmental Quality is holding secret discussions with fish-loving activists in Washington state. They hope to tear down four dams on the Snake River‚ to satisfy local salmon. These Green radicals seem little interested in the 100% carbon-free power that these dams produce‚ nor encouraged that 6% of America’s power was hydroelectric in 2022. So‚ among coal‚ natural gas‚ and hydroelectric‚ Biden has put bullseyes on the sources of 65.6% of U.S. electricity. “Don’t worry!” Biden and his fellow Climatarians reply. “Solar and wind power will save us!” Inconvenient truth: Solar power generated just 3.4% of U.S. energy‚ and wind 10.3%. Thus‚ these two sources of electricity‚ totaling 13.7%‚ would have to grow by 479%—damn-near fivefold—to replace coal‚ natural gas‚ and hydroelectric‚ which Emperor Biden finds somewhere between distasteful and morally repugnant. Even worse‚ solar power wanes when the sun goes home early in the fall and winter. And year-round‚ solar power stops after sunset. Offshore wind projects from New Jersey to Connecticut to Massachusetts have been canceled‚ in part because they seem to drive whales‚ dolphins‚ and other marine mammals fatally onto beaches. Even if one swallows Biden’s outlandish blather that the alleged “climate crisis” is “even more frightening than a nuclear war‚” only a belief in energy-producing leprechauns could explain relentless decrees to plug everything into America’s walls while slashing the power flowing into America’s sockets. While Biden oscillates between eco-fantasy and enviro-tyranny‚ COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber of the United Arab Emirates operates in reality. He warned the warmists that fleeing fossil fuels before renewables are viable will “take the world back into caves.” If Biden’s command economy for energy prevails‚ Americans will watch candles flicker beside blackened HDTVs. Left uncorrected‚ Biden’s staggering ignorance of supply and demand will generate consequences that recall Pat Travers’ rock and roll classic. “Boom Boom: Out Go the Lights.” The Daily Signal publishes a variety of perspectives. The BorderLine: Climate Change Is Not Responsible for Mass Migration

The BorderLine is a weekly Daily Signal feature examining everything from the unprecedented illegal immigration crisis at the border to immigration’s impact on cities and states throughout the land. We will also shed light on other critical border-related issues like human trafficking‚ drug smuggling‚ terrorism‚ and more. ——————————————————— To avoid admitting that President Joe Biden’s own policies are responsible for mass illegal migration‚ his administration is keen to implicate “climate change” as the root cause instead. Biden has done everything in his power to facilitate unlimited immigration‚ from setting up overseas “Safe Mobility Offices” to encouraging asylum claims to inventing “lawful pathways” that are really unlawful‚ using mass immigration parole to bypass requiring a visa for entry into the country. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has shifted all available resources from deterring illegal aliens to instead bringing them into the country. By releasing thousands of illegal aliens at the border daily and fostering nearly unlimited asylum applications‚ the Biden administration adds to court backlogs already so long that aliens have de facto amnesty. The small percentage of asylum cases that eventually qualify have been buried by fraudulent and spurious ones. This is all by design. But the Biden administration is hoping to distract from this dismal record by blaming the whole thing on climate change. The White House’s “Report on the Impact of Climate Change on Migration” declares “the United States will need to strengthen the application of existing protection frameworks‚ adjust U.S. protection mechanisms to better accommodate people fleeing the impacts of climate change‚ and evaluate the need for additional legal protections for those who have no alternative but to migrate.” That word salad could mean more bogus immigration parole programs and including climate change in the criteria for granting asylum. But blaming illegal mass migration on warmer weather is politics‚ not science. Linking small changes in annual planetary average temperatures to specific weather patterns is difficult. Blaming weather for individual decisions to illegally come to the United States—often through several safe countries on the way—is not credible. A recent Migration Policy Institute report notes that “[e]nvironmental issues are generally minor factors in people’s migration decisions‚ typically far behind economic imperatives‚ even in highly climate-affected countries.” A report by the Dialogue cites “political crises‚ economic insecurity‚ violence‚ weak social protection systems‚ COVID-19 contagion‚ low vaccination rates‚ and natural disasters” as “factors explaining current migration.” It concludes that “overall‚ aspirational or poor material conditions in the homeland is an important common denominator.” And a new report by The Heritage Foundation‚ “Powering Human Advancement: Why the World Needs Affordable and Reliable Energy‚” concludes that a lack of fossil fuel energy in some countries promotes immigration to countries that have the advantages of fossil fuels: A lack of affordable and reliable energy is associated with a lack of access to clean water‚ adequate medical care‚ affordable transportation‚ and economic opportunities‚ all of which stall human advancement‚ especially in the most vulnerable countries. Energy‚ in all its diverse forms‚ should be harnessed by all societies—because high-income societies are also high-energy societies. (The Daily Signal is Heritage’s news and commentary outlet.) In other words‚ when illegal aliens select the U.S. as their destination‚ their main reason is to leave poverty and look for a better life either through finding a job or relying on America’s social safety net. Under U.S. immigration law‚ being poor or wanting a better job don’t qualify an alien for asylum. To be eligible‚ applicants have to prove that if returned home‚ they would be persecuted on the basis of race‚ religion‚ nationality‚ political opinion‚ or membership in a particular social group. The “particular social group” category‚ already too broad‚ was expanded beyond reason by Biden administration guidance to the government staff who decide asylum cases. With the system already overburdened‚ activists now want to expand the asylum criteria even further. The New York Times recently reported on the Miskito people of Honduras. Historically poor‚ subject to hurricanes‚ and now beset by drug cartels‚ some of them picked up and left. They didn’t relocate within Honduras or go to the nearest safe countries—Mexico or Guatemala—but trekked 2‚500 miles north to the United States. Drawn by Biden’s open border‚ they now plan to claim asylum based on “extreme weather wrought by climate change‚” helped by the National Immigration Project. But the reality is that America is not to blame for their plight. U.S. greenhouse gas emissions have been falling. This is not because of Biden’s massive subsidies to renewable energy and electric vehicles; it’s the fruit of improved technology and investment by the private sector‚ as well as the conversion to cleaner natural gas. In Europe‚ Germany and Britain are crippling their economies and sticking their populations with huge increases in energy costs in the pursuit of lower emissions. Meanwhile‚ China is building a coal-fired power plant every two weeks and continues to increase emissions year over year. India isn’t far behind. This doesn’t stop the global Left from using climate change as an irrefutable catchall cause for illegal immigration‚ for which they blame only the developed world. Beijing wins again as mass migration based on fraud only targets desirable countries like the U.S. Other than maybe North Koreans‚ no one is lining up to get into China.   The plight of the Miskito‚ and of hundreds of millions of people across this crowded planet‚ can inspire our sympathy and aid‚ but it is not grounds for asylum. If we wish to remain a stable and prosperous society in an uncertain world‚ it can never be grounds for asylum. The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change claims that “[p]rojected population displacements by 2050 in Central and South America‚ sub-Saharan Africa‚ and South Asia due to climate change‚ rang[e] from 31 million to 143 million people.”  To call that range “ballpark” would be generous‚ but there is no doubt that millions will continue to migrate‚ for various reasons‚ in the future. That doesn’t make it the duty of every desirable country on earth to surrender control over its borders‚ identity‚ and destiny in response. Who comes to the United States‚ how many‚ and where from is a decision for American voters‚ not for globalist climate crusaders. The U.S. should offer our expertise and example to help countries overcome the challenges of a changing planet‚ but we can’t be the world’s default refuge. Our current asylum system was designed for the 1950s‚ with the fresh memory of Jews fleeing Nazi extermination and dissidents fleeing communist tyranny. This humanitarian program was not intended for‚ and it has been destroyed by‚ mass migration for largely economic reasons. The result is engendering political pushback across the developed world. The U.S. needs to rethink the Refugee Act of 1980‚ which defines who qualifies for asylum. Climate change should be explicitly excluded‚ and the “particular social group” category eliminated or‚ at the very least‚ tightly restricted. Under the Biden administration‚ it doesn’t really matter to the Miskito or other asylum claimants how unsound the basis of their claim is. They’ll be allowed to remain in the United States and work while they wait out a many-years-long court process. That’s ridiculous‚ and it’s why‚ in May of this year‚ the House of Representatives passed needed reform of the asylum criteria that would require people to wait for their asylum decision outside the U.S. In the national interest‚ the Senate and Biden should accept these necessary reforms and abandon the canard that climate change justifies the president’s failed immigration policies. MSNBC: Impeachment Probe Vote Is a Distraction Biden’s Booming Economy

The crack sleuths on MSNBC were on the case Thursday afternoon and got to the bottom of the impeachment probe of President Joe Biden. No‚ they didn’t take the accusations of corruption seriously and they didn’t care to dig into the Biden family’s tangled web of shell companies getting payments from foreign entities. But what they did purport to discover was the motive of House Republicans in launching the investigation: to distract from President Biden’s booming economy! Their busted revelation came during Andrea Mitchell Reports where Mitchell juxtaposed the impeachment inquiry vote with “The backdrop‚ of course‚ to all of this is inflation is easing” and “all the economic indicators are really looking strong.” “Strong in a good way‚ not in a dangerously inflationary way. But the voters don't seem to be picking up on that‚” she lamented to NBC chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander. Alexander brazenly misrepresented a 2019 tweet from former President Trump‚ where he decried the Russia Collusion Hoax as a distraction from his booming economy‚ to falsely suggest it was about his first impeachment: Just yesterday‚ on the economy we saw the stock market get to an all-time high‚ a record high. And it reminds you of something that Donald Trump posted back in 2019 on then-Twitter‚ now X. He said the following. He said‚ “You mean the stock market is hit an all-time record high today and they’re actually talking about impeachment?” Well‚ in fact‚ that is the case this time around as it relates to President Biden. The stock market is at an all-time high. Donald Trump‚ himself‚ said the stock market would plummet under Joe Biden if he became president. It is at an all-time high and House Republicans are talking about impeachment right now.     The tweet was from April and Trump’s first impeachment wasn’t until the start of the following year. Alexander also tried to rewrite history there and lie about the fact the stock market did indeed plummet after Biden was elected. “As it relates to the economy‚ there are those strong signs right now. Some new indicators that consumer sentiment is getting more optimistic‚” he puffed up the Biden economy. Despite delivering that positive outlook that average Americans really weren’t feeling‚ Alexander did share the White House’s fear that the impeachment inquiry would be what damaged the economy. “[Aides are] warning about the potential for this to have a real impact on the economy going forward. The economy‚ as you noted‚ that is seeing some real strong signs right now. The potential for a government shutdown increasing as the days pass‚” he parroted. “But again‚ Andrea‚ to be clear‚ the White House does face some real challenges on this issue to try to better convince Americans that Joe Biden deserves credit for the economy the way it is right now‚” he griped. “Still‚ Americans in many parts of the country [are] frustrated by rent being high and the price of food still being too high.” “But obviously‚ as we heard from the Fed‚ inflation going in the right direction and likely to be as many as three more cuts‚ according to Chairman Powell‚ next year‚” he hyped up the coming election year. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports December 14‚ 2023 12:05:31 p.m. Eastern (…) ANDREA MITCHELL: The backdrop‚ of course‚ to all of this is inflation is easing‚ according to the Fed chair‚ Jerome Powell‚ all the economic indicators are really looking strong. Strong in a good way‚ not in a dangerously inflationary way. But the voters don't seem to be picking up on that. PETER ALEXANDER: Yeah Andrea. You make a couple good points in that question. Let me get to the first‚ which is specifically the President's reaction to that impeachment inquiry. The White House posting a statement from President Biden late yesterday where he described this as a baseless political stunt. We’ll put it up there that you can read along. He wrote‚ “Instead of doing anything to help make Americans' lives better‚ they” – the Republicans – “are focused on attacking me with lies instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done. They are choosing to waste time on this” - again – “baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts.” The President being very critical of those Republicans right now‚ saying instead of focusing on issues like Ukraine‚ Israel‚ and border security‚ he said Republicans in Congress won't act to help. Repeating that multiple times in his statement. And the White House‚ having spoken to aides to the President earlier today‚ they are warning about the potential for this to have a real impact on the economy going forward. The economy‚ as you noted‚ that is seeing some real strong signs right now. The potential for a government shutdown increasing as the days pass. Early January‚ obviously‚ is going to be do-or-die time as it relates to the potential for a shutdown. Just yesterday‚ on the economy we saw the stock market get to an all-time high‚ a record high. As it relates to the economy‚ there are those strong signs right now. Some new indicators that consumer sentiment is getting more optimistic. But again‚ Andrea‚ to be clear‚ the White House does face some real challenges on this issue to try to better convince Americans that Joe Biden deserves credit for the economy the way it is right now. Still‚ Americans in many parts of the country frustrated by rent being high and the price of food still being too high. But obviously‚ as we heard from the Fed‚ inflation going in the right direction and likely to be as many as three more cuts‚ according to Chairman Powell‚ next year. (…)

Can Hamsters Drink Milk? Vet Approved Facts &; Risks

Hamsters are extremely popular pets due to their small size and low maintenance needs. However‚ many animal lovers are unfamiliar with how to properly care for hamsters‚ especially regarding their nutrition and diet. One common question that sparks curiosity among animal lovers and hamster owners is: Can hamsters drink milk? As hamsters are mammals‚ they can technically drink milk‚ but it is not the most suitable drink for these rodents‚ as drinking it after a certain age could cause several health risks. In this article‚ we talk about the possible risks associated with hamsters drinking milk and more. Should Hamsters Drink Milk? Is It Good for Them? After birth‚ baby hamsters strictly feed on their mother’s milk as the main source of nutrients. During this period‚ baby hamsters can easily digest lactose. However‚ as they grow and become weaned‚ many hamsters lose the ability to digest lactose‚ leading to lactose intolerance. While milk is not toxic to these rodents‚ drinking it at an adult age could cause several health risks. Since adult hamsters have difficulties digesting lactose‚ their bodies can react poorly to milk‚ leading to diarrhea and stomach upset. Another issue connected with hamsters drinking milk is the potential of the milk getting spoiled or spilling in your hamster’s cage‚ leading to germ and bacteria formation‚ which could easily make your hamster sick. Hamsters should only drink milk when they’re still babies‚ and it should only be from their mother. After they’ve grown‚ it’s best for hamsters not to drink milk. Image Credit: Couleur‚ Pixabay Possible Risks Associated With Hamsters Drinking Milk 1. Digestive Upset One of the biggest health risks associated with hamsters drinking milk is digestive upset. In most cases‚ drinking milk can lead to diarrhea‚ stomach upset‚ and abdominal pain. If persistent‚ the diarrhea could eventually cause more health troubles‚ such as dehydration‚ which is why it’s best to keep milk out of your hamster’s diet. Hamster’s are particularly susceptible to the effects of diarrhea‚ so anything that could upset their tummies should be avoided. 2. Nutritional Imbalance Hamsters are small creatures‚ and even the slightest dietary changes could have a big impact on them. Drinking milk could lead to a nutritional imbalance‚ which could further damage their health and cause more problems. Which Drink Is Suitable for Hamsters? The only fluid that hamsters need to intake daily is water. It’s essential for proper body functioning and overall well-being‚ which is why your hamster should have constant access to fresh drinking water. There’s no need to offer any other drinks or fluids to your pet hamster. Are There Any Alternatives for Milk That Hamsters Can Consume? Some people might want to offer milk to their hamsters as a way to spruce up their diet and have them intake various minerals and vitamins. However‚ since drinking milk could cause digestive upset in your hamster‚ it’s better to look for safer alternatives. These items offer plenty of the minerals and vitamins that your hamster needs for proper development: Apples Mealworms Romaine lettuce Image Credit: Couleur‚ Pixabay Final Thoughts Hamsters can drink milk because they’re mammals and consume milk after birth. However‚ as they mature‚ most hamsters lose their ability to digest lactose‚ making them lactose intolerant. Therefore‚ only baby hamsters should drink milk‚ and only from their mother. Adult hamsters would do best without milk in their life stage and should drink water instead. Featured Image Credit: NataliaPopova‚ Shutterstock The post Can Hamsters Drink Milk? Can Hamsters Eat Coconut? Vet Approved Nutrition Facts &; Advice

Hamsters are omnivores that can enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables; does that mean that hamsters can eat coconut? Yes hamsters can eat coconut! This exotic treat is not just flavorful but also packed with a host of nutrients that can be beneficial for your tiny ball of fur. However‚ like any other treat you offer your pet‚ moderation is key. Also‚ certain precautions need to be considered to ensure the safety of your pet. Let’s delve deeper into the fascinating world of hamsters and coconuts. Understanding the Nutritional Value of Coconut Here are some of the benefits of coconut for your hamster. Beneficial Healthy Fats Coconut is well-known for its high content of healthy fats. These fats are essential for various body functions‚ such as providing energy and supporting cell growth. They also play a crucial role in protecting against heart disease and maintaining brain function. However‚ as beneficial as these fats are‚ remember that they should be consumed in moderation due to their high calorie content. Rich Source of Dietary Fiber Another significant benefit of coconut is its high fiber content. Dietary fiber aids in digestion by adding bulk to your hamster’s diet‚ helping to prevent constipation and promote a healthy digestive tract. A diet rich in fiber can help keep your hamster’s digestive system running smoothly. But how should you serve it to your hamster? The Debate: Fresh vs Dried Coconut You might be wondering whether fresh or dried coconut is better for your hamster; both can be served to your pet. However‚ fresh coconut is always a better choice as it doesn’t contain any added sugars or preservatives often found in dried versions. Dried coconut‚ while convenient‚ may contain additional sugar‚ which can be harmful to your hamster’s health. But if you stick to the unsweetened variety that contains nothing but coconut‚ you can certainly sprinkle some coconut flakes on your hammy’s next meal. The Importance of Portion Size As is true with any food‚ portion control is key when feeding coconut to your hamster. A piece of coconut meat measuring about an inch long is more than enough for an adult hamster. Overfeeding can lead to obesity and other health problems. If you are planning to add some dried coconut flakes to your hamster’s dinner‚ then a teaspoon once or twice a week will do it. In fact‚ this can be a nifty way to get a reluctant hamster to eat their “boring” pellets! Frequency of Feeding Coconut should be viewed as an occasional treat‚ not a staple in your hamster’s diet. Offering it once or twice a week is more than enough. This ensures that your pet gets the benefits of the coconut without the risk of overconsumption. Always Remove the Shell While coconut shells are non-toxic to hamsters‚ they pose a potential hazard due to their hardness. They could cause dental problems if your hamster attempts to chew on them. Always remove the shell before feeding coconut to your hamster. Say No to Sugared or Candied Coconut Sugared or candied coconut products might seem like a convenient option‚ but they’re a no-go for hamsters. These products are high in sugar‚ which can lead to obesity and diabetes in hamsters. Supervise Your Hamster During Feeding It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on your hamster when introducing a new food. If you notice any changes in behavior or signs of digestive upset after feeding coconut‚ remove the coconut from the diet and consult your vet immediately. Image Credit: Couleur‚ Pixabay Healthy Coconut Alternatives for Hamsters Coconuts are good for hamsters‚ but it shouldn’t be the only treat you feed them. Here are some more healthy fruit and vegetable treats that you can give to your hamster. Fruit Alternatives If you’re looking for other fruits to add variety to your hamster’s diet‚ consider apples‚ pears‚ and berries. These fruits are lower in fats compared to coconut and provide a variety of nutrients. Remember to remove any seeds or pits‚ as they can be harmful to your hamster. Vegetable Alternatives Vegetables like carrots‚ cucumbers‚ and bell peppers are great for hamsters. They offer a wide array of vitamins and minerals and are low in calories‚ making them an ideal choice for daily feeding. Image Credit: Irennikia‚ Shutterstock The Role of Commercial Hamster Food While it’s good to offer fresh foods‚ commercial hamster food should make up the majority of your hamster’s diet. These foods are specially formulated to meet all the nutritional needs of your pet‚ ensuring they get a balanced diet. Other treats such as coconut should only be fed on occasion‚ not as an everyday treat. Conclusion The answer is clear: coconuts can indeed be a delightful and nutritious treat for your hamster when offered correctly. The key lies in moderation and careful preparation. By providing a balanced diet and ensuring their safety‚ you can greatly contribute to the joy and vitality of your tiny furry friend’s life‚ making each day a fun-filled adventure.
