Alaska Airlines resumes flying grounded planes after terrifying incident — Boeing vows to regain public's confidence

Alaska Airlines resumed flying its grounded Boeing 737-9 MAX airplanes on Friday‚ just a few weeks after a terrifying in-flight incident caused one of its flights to perform an emergency landing.Earlier this month‚ a plug door panel on an Alaska Airlines flight headed to California from Oregon blew out mid-flight‚ causing the oxygen masks to deploy. As a result‚ all Boeing 737-9 MAX planes were grounded for further quality control inspections.Last week‚ Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci shared with NBC News that the company found "some loose bolts on many of our MAX 9s." United Airlines also reported finding loose bolts on some of its planes. Despite the alarming discoveries‚ on Wednesday‚ the Federal Aviation Administration cleared a path for the grounded planes to resume operations following the completion of its inspection and maintenance process. The agency also announced that it would not approve the production expansion of Boeing's MAX aircraft. FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker called the agency's enhanced review of the aircraft "exhaustive." According to a recent letter from Boeing Commercial Airplanes President Stan Deal‚ United Airlines‚ Aeromexico‚ and Turkish Airlines plan to resume flying their MAX 9 airplanes shortly as well."Our long-term focus is on improving our quality so that we can regain the confidence of our customers‚ our regulator and the flying public. Frankly‚ we have disappointed and let them down‚" Deal said. "We are deeply sorry for the significant disruption and frustration of our customers‚ some of whom have been publicly and unfairly criticized. We have heard from our regulator‚ which has announced it won't allow 737 MAX production increases until they are satisfied we have improved our quality control. We own these issues and will make them right." "Over the last century‚ the people of Boeing have faced and overcome significant challenges. This is one of those times‚" he continued. "We have to be better. We have to deliver perfect airplanes each and every time."Alaska Airlines plans to complete an inspection of its 65 MAX 9 planes and allow the aircraft to resume operations by the end of next week‚ Fox Business reported."Each of our 737-9 MAX will return to service only after the rigorous inspections are completed and each plane is deemed airworthy according to FAA requirements‚" Alaska Airlines stated. "The individual inspections are expected to take up to 12 hours per aircraft."Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Awkward silence hits CNN airwaves when Gov. Kristi Noem confronts host for defending Biden on border crisis

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) beclowned CNN anchor Dana Bash on Sunday for defending President Joe Biden over the border crisis. On CNN's "State of the Union‚" Bash asked Noem about ongoing negotiations to pass a controversial border bill that Republicans believe will do little to stymie the border crisis. Biden‚ over the weekend‚ committed to shutting down the border only if Congress passes the bill. The bill‚ however‚ is unlikely to pass the Senate because an increasing number of Republican lawmakers oppose the bill. That opposition is giving Democrats a talking point to use against Republicans‚ and Bash deployed it in her interview with Noem."Why not take 'yes' for an answer?" Bash asked‚ referring to Biden's willingness to sign the bill.In response‚ Noem correctly pointed out that Biden doesn't need the bill to fix the border crisis. Congress‚ she explained‚ has already given the president authority to enforce immigration law. Instead‚ she argued that Biden's policies need to change."The president can be the one who stands up and shows leadership at this time. Change your policies‚ build a wall‚ secure the border‚ and then let's fix the immigration policy‚" Noem said. "But we don't have to compromise one to do the other."But Bash continued to defend Biden."Governor‚ President Biden is negotiating‚" the CNN host said. "He didn't want to do any of this. He's negotiating because this is what Republicans wanted him to do. So‚ again‚ why not take the W? Why not take the win?" Gov. Kristi Noem: Joe Biden can close the border TODAY www.youtube.com Noem responded with a single question that silenced Bash and brought an awkward silence onto CNN's airwaves."What has he done?" the governor asked.Noem then broke the silence and recounted what Border Patrol officers on the front lines of the border crisis told her last week."[Biden has] done nothing as far as actual policies and actually using the tools that he has. I sat two days ago with people that work for him that said‚ 'This president is tying our hands every single day. He does not let us do our job. This president‚ we work for him. We work for the federal government‚ and we hate it. We hate our jobs and we hate what's happening to this country‚ because he will not keep us safe‚'" she said.Bash‚ unfortunately‚ refused to answer Noem's question. Instead‚ she blamed Congress for the border crisis and promptly ended the interview.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox.
