MRC Free Speech America caught an anti-free speech organization with its hands in the cookie jar.  Ad Fontes‚ the notably leftist media ratings firm‚ reacted to MRC articles that criticized its left-wing bias by giving these articles unfavorable ratings. We kid you not! The left-wing censorship firm‚ presenting itself as the arbiter of truth‚ pummelled two MRC articles—explicitly about Ad Fontes—with negative scores. In essence‚ Ad Fontes claimed articles accusing its system as biased and unreliable were … biased and unreliable. The joke writes itself. After recognizing how ridiculous Ad Fontes looked targeting articles that questioned its ratings‚ the company enacted a new policy – it will no longer rate articles about itself. Tellingly‚ this decision was only made after being confronted by MRC staff.  MRC reached out to Ad Fontes for comment on Jan. 15‚ 2024. In response‚ Ad Fontes admitted that rating articles about itself looked bad in retrospect. Citing growing scrutiny and an internal discussion‚ Ad Fontes founder and CEO Vanessa Otero declared to MRC that they “decided that moving forward‚ we won't rate any articles that are about us or tangentially mention us.” MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider rebuked the fact it required MRC questioning for Ad Fontes to admit its blatant bias and change its policies. “Just like how the Soviet Union judges skewed their scoring in the 1980 Summer Olympics‚ Ad Fontes wanted to be its own referee‚” Schneider said. “To think that Ad Fontes thought they could get away with this reveals its lack of trustworthiness and credibility.” Initially‚ MRC published a bombshell report headlined‚ “MRC ORIGINAL: Media Literacy Firm Rigged to Favor Left-Wing Media‚” which showed how Ad Fontes’ ratings disproportionately favored left-leaning media over right-leaning media after examining all media that it rated in its database. Four months later‚ Ad Fontes limited the ability for outside organizations to access and analyze its data. However‚ Ad Fontes claimed that users can still view its data via its app. Following the change‚ MRC published a follow-up story headlined: “Nothing to See Here! Leftist So-Called ‘Media Literacy’ Firm Pulls Curtains After MRC Exposé.” Ad Fontes inexplicably targeted both these articles to denigrate. First‚ Ad Fontes gave MRC's initial exposé—published on Sept. 21‚ 2023—a scathingly low-reliability score of 5.33. This placed reviews placed the story near what Ad Fontes considers “Fabricated” or “Misleading” content. Ad Fontes later removed the rating completely‚ according to archived links reviewed by MRC Free Speech America. Months later‚ Ad Fontes targeted another MRC article daring to call out the journalism gatekeepers at the firm. This time‚ the company selected MRC reporting on Ad Fontes’s decision to partially pull the curtain shut on its data following our exposé. The MRC report relied on an Ad Fontes mass email telling its subscribers that it took drastic measures to limit its previously available trove of data.  Despite MRC using Ad Fontes’s own words‚ the company punished the article with yet another low-reliability score of 8.33. Similar to when it walked back its review of MRC’s initial exposé‚ Ad Fontes again removed its score for the second article on Jan. 15‚ 2023‚ hours after MRC Free Speech America reached out to the media ratings firm with questions about the increasingly glaring conflict of interest.  The critical ratings of MRC’s articles contrast strikingly with Ad Fontes’s overtly favorable ratings of debunked stories pushed by leftist publications. For instance‚ at the time of the publication of MRC’s Ad Fontes exposé‚ the rating firm gave a high 50.63 reliability score to a 2020 Washington Post article calling the COVID-19 lab-leak theory a debunked “fringe” theory‚ despite Biden’s own Department of Energy acknowledging the laboratory leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology as the likely cause of COVID-19. Any score above 40 is considered “reliable” by Ad Fontes. As recounted in MRC’s report‚ Ad Fontes also rubber-stamped an article by The Root‚ headlined “They’ll Erase Us from the Future.” With a generous reliability score of 46.0‚ the article baselessly claimed that twice-failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams won the 2018 Georgia election. Abrams notably lost the election by 1.4 percentage points despite refusing to concede. Conservatives are under attack. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fawned to a friendly face at CNN about President Biden’s “equity”-based approach to his inflation-rattled economy. Cue the canned laughter. During a Jan. 25 interview on CNN This Morning‚ Jean-Pierre harped to CNN Anchor and former White House reporter Phil Mattingly that “[Biden] has put equity at the center of everything that he's talked about when it comes to the economy.” Mattingly‚ who referenced his past experience with Jean-Pierre at the White House‚ offered flattering economic analysis to help Jean-Pierre’s gaslighting along‚ before asking her to respond to a worn-out CNN propaganda line about a gap between how great the economy supposedly is and bad voter perceptions. In effect‚ Mattingly tossed softball questions in the apparent hope that Jean-Pierre would eventually knock the Biden economic messaging out of the park. She failed‚ miserably. “The consumer sentiment numbers have been on the trendline upwards‚ the latest one just about surprised everybody. My question for you‚ as he goes into this big moment‚ in Wisconsin the speech‚ the UAW endorsement‚” Mattingly said before setting up his softball question to Jean-Pierre. “For months you have been frustrated that there's not been a correlation with public sentiment from the top-line numbers‚ that all defied expectations. Do you feel like the corner is being turned right now‚ people are getting it‚ that it's landing‚ and‚ not only will this not be a drag heading into a campaign season‚ this is actually going to be a benefit for the president?” Unbelievably‚ Jean-Pierre stumbled on this regime media question. In an unforced error‚ Jean-Pierre told Mattingly‚ “What we're seeing with the trends‚ the economic trends‚ it's because of what this president has done. He has put equity at the center of everything that he's talked about when it comes to the economy.” This isn’t the flex Jean-Pierre is making it seem to be. A new ABC News/Ipsos poll of 2‚228 adults released Jan. 14 showed what the current “trends” for Biden look like: a majority 56 percent “disapprove” of the way he’s handled the economy so far and a whopping 71 percent said the economy was in “bad shape” due to higher prices and interest rates. Even more damning is that “Biden has a tepid 65 percent approval rating among Democrats for handling the economy‚ a career low.” It could be precisely because of Biden’s multi trillion-dollar‚ so-called “equity”-centered economic policies that exacerbated the inflation crisis that Americans currently believe the economy stinks. Later‚ Jean-Pierre argued that “wages are up” with no pushback whatsoever from Mattingly. In fact‚ real wages went down from the first quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2023 from $373 a week to $365 a week.    The recent growth in median real wages to $373 a week celebrated by the press secretary means that Americans have just simply returned to what they were making at the start of the Biden presidency‚ hardly an accomplishment. Mattingly didn’t bother mentioning this. Unfortunately‚ Americans reportedly need to spend an extra $11‚000 to maintain the standard of living they had when Biden waltzed into the White House in January 2021. Unsurprisingly‚ Mattingly didn’t ask Jean-Pierre about this inconvenient fact either.  Conservatives are under attack! The casts of the Thursday editions of CBS Mornings and ABC’s Good Morning America could hardly contain their excitement that Jon Stewart will be returning to host Comedy Central’s The Daily Show every Monday for the rest of the year beginning February 12. CBS was admittedly “Gaga” while ABC hailed him a “trusted left-of-center conscience” for his “devoted fans.” During a profile piece on Stewart‚ CBS’s Vladimir Duthiers included an interview with Chris Smith who “worked with Stewart to write an oral history of his Daily Show tenure.” Smith hyped‚ “By the end of Jon's time at the show he was a major player in the political conversation‚ and he wants to have a voice that's heard far and wide in that conversation.”     Duthiers recalled Stewart’s brief Apple TV+ show before adding “Now his return to The Daily Show includes an executive producer title‚ and with it a likely vision for the show's point of view with the presidential election in focus.” That view is solidly on the left‚ both in Stewart’s time and since‚ but Smith still claimed that “Jon has always been smart enough and critical enough to poke holes in the lies and mistakes and hypocrisies on both sides.” Back in studio Duthiers hyped Stewart’s premier because CBS and Comedy Central are both part of Paramount Global before asking the assembled co-hosts‚ “How excited are we?” Gayle King declared that Stewart’s return “Couldn't come back at a better time… The beauty of him is that he doesn't play favorites. He calls everybody out when he sees fit. That’s--- and he's so smart about it.” Duthiers agreed‚ “This man will have people thinking about things differently” while Dana Jacobson added “He does that so beautifully. I said this earlier‚ the way he uses comedy to draw people in who may not face other issues‚ nobody can do it like him.” Having at least some self-awareness‚ King realized “As you can tell‚ we're kinda Gaga.” Meanwhile‚ Tony Dokoupil claimed “We missed him.”     The definition of “we” apparently includes ABC’s Chris Connelly who proclaimed “From 1999 onward on The Daily Show‚ Stewart making the Comedy Central series into a source of news whose reach and influence exceeded traditional TVs‚ becoming a trusted left-of-center conscience for his many devoted fans.” At least he admitted Stewart was on the left although he tried to inflate Stewart’s non-partisan credentials by playing a clip of Stewart mocking Hillary Clinton’s “dead broke” interview. Variety’s Brian Steinberg asserted that Stewart makes people think in a way others do not‚ “Jon Stewart and his correspondents really‚ I think‚ pressed viewers to be more skeptical of what they were consuming every day and every night‚ and to‚ kind of‚ think more carefully about how they were getting information about the world.” Back in studio‚ host George Stephanopoulos recalled his time with Stewart “It was always fun‚ always provocative‚ always a great conversation and he's not afraid to go out and make waves…I hope he has me back.” As Stewart takes over both in front of and behind the camera the number to watch is 78‚ that is the percentage of jokes The Daily Show directed towards conservatives in 2023. If Stewart really does go after “both sides‚” that number should be quite a bit lower in 2024‚ but don’t hold your breath. These questions all seem obvious‚ but the question of who would receive the 2024 presidential endorsement of the far-left United Auto Workers was big news for the “big three” of ABC‚ CBS‚ and NBC on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. As such‚ they marveled at the “powerful” union’s “big endorsement” of President Biden as he “[h]it[s] the accelerator to the campaign’s next phase”.     On Wednesday’s NBC Nightly News‚ anchor Lester Holt trumped the “major endorsement” while White House sycophant Kelly O’Donnell boasted of Biden “[h]itting the accelerator to the campaign’s next phase” with the UAW endorsement a sign of strength among “blue-collar workers liv[ing] in critical Midwest battlegrounds” pitting Trump’s “appeal to the working class” versus “Biden’s history backing labor.” ABC’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir was an enthusiastic Captain Obvious‚ proclaiming “there is news” in the form of “the major” and “big endorsement” of Biden by UAW. Congressional correspondent Rachel Scott had the story on both World News Tonight and on Thursday’s Good Morning America‚ touting Biden as having “welcom[ed]” the “powerful” union’s endorsement “four months after traveling to Michigan to walk the picket line with striking workers.” On the former‚ Scott added another obvious tidbit that UAW President Shawn Fain used the occasion to “fir[e] straight at Donald Trump” (with pedantic union talking points). Wednesday’s CBS Evening News thought the UAW endorsement was such a big deal that it came up not once‚ but twice in the newscast (click “expand”): CAITLIN HUEY-BURNS: President Biden is already in general election mode‚ saying: “It is now clear that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee” and “the stakes could not be higher.” Biden used his endorsement today by the United Auto Workers to highlight the differences with Trump. BIDEN: Tens of thousands of auto jobs were lost nationwide during Trump’s presidency. During my presidency‚ we have opened 20 auto factories‚ with more to come. [CHEERS] (....) NORAH O’DONNELL: Let’s talk about President Joe Biden. He got — won a big endorsement today from the UAW. And‚ of course‚ that state of Michigan is a key state. ROBERT COSTA: Getting the UAW endorsement really significant for President Biden‚ especially in Michigan‚ which is going to be a battleground‚ but the scene there today at that rally with the UAW really indicative of the challenges he’s facing‚ was interrupted constantly by protesters...complaining about...how he’s handling Israel’s conflict with Hamas. This is a lingering issue over the Democrats right now. They like President Biden in the labor community‚ but a lot of younger progressives not so happy about foreign policy. O’DONNELL: Yeah‚ that has worried a number of Democrats‚ what’s happening in Michigan. Thursday’s CBS Mornings had a full segment befitting of an official‚ state-run TV channel. Co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King had the setup‚ touting Fain as having taken “direct aim at former President Trump”. “The president of the United Auto workers didn’t just endorse President Biden Wednesday. He also slammed Mr. Biden’s opponent for a history of what he described as anti-union policies‚” chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes trumpeted. Acting as if it were in doubt‚ Cordes added that “Biden had been courting the UAW and its 400‚000 members for some time” such as his September trip to Michigan to stand with “striking workers on the picket line”. Cordes offered more fluff about Biden and union support‚ adding he’d spend Thursday touting infrastructure projects and that one of his State of the Union guests will be Kate Cox‚ a Texas woman who was strapped to a proverbial rocket by the pro-abortion industry as she wanted an abortion for what she said was a non-viable pregnancy (click “expand”): CORDES: The endorsement could give Mr. Biden a boost in the swing state of Michigan‚ the heart of the U.S. auto industry. Nationwide‚ 20 percent of voters in 2020 said someone in their household belonged to a labor union. 56 percent of them went for President Biden‚ 40 percent for Trump. BIDEN: God bless the American worker. Thank you‚ thank you‚ thank you. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] CORDES: Today‚ Mr. Biden will travel to another swing state‚ Wisconsin‚ to unveil another $5 billion worth of transportation projects stemming from the infrastructure law he passed in 2022. We’ve been reporting on the Biden team’s plans to make abortion rights a key issue in this campaign‚ and we got another example of that yesterday. The White House announced that Kate Cox‚ the Texas woman whose fight to terminate a non-viable pregnancy became national news‚ has been invited to sit with the First Lady at the State of the Union address in March[.] Finally on NBC’s Today‚ Saturday co-host and White House correspondent Peter Alexander gushed about Biden “[l]ooking to rev up the support of working class voters in key swing states like Michigan” by “securing a coveted endorsement from one of the country's most powerful unions‚ the United Auto Workers”. A market research company found that after New Jersey banned single-use plastic bags‚ the amount of plastic used in the state for bags went up significantly‚ as did the amount of pollution created in production. Only the retailer benefited from the increased sales of the alternative bags.After New Jersey banned single-use plastic bags — that were often used in retail and grocery stores — total bag volumes declined by more than 60%. The 2022 ban pushed the state's number of the bags down to 894 million from around 1.5 billion. While the reduction in single-use bags was evident‚ it generated different problems‚ including the very same environmental issues such bans are typically meant to mitigate.Not only did the ban cause an abrupt increase in theft of shopping baskets‚ but it also caused a nearly threefold increase in plastic consumption.Market research group Freedonia conducted a study that analyzed the impact of the ban on retail practices‚ consumer behavior‚ and environmental aftermath. The study found that the alternative bags that have been used to replace the single-use bags consumed more plastic and created more emissions.Six times more woven and non-woven polypropylene plastic was consumed to produce reusable bags that were sold as environmentally friendly alternatives. According to the study‚ non-woven polypropylene bags are not widely recycled in the United States‚ nor do they consist of any recycled materials. While the environmental impact of the shift in materials was measured rather generically in terms of "greenhouse gas emissions‚" the emissions increased by 500% when compared to that of plastic bag production in 2015. The alternative non-woven polypropylene bag material consumes over 15 times more plastic in production and generates five times more emissions per bag.At the same time‚ the shift toward delivery and pickup for groceries after COVID-19 restrictions increased the production of the alternative bags. The shift to these alternatives has seemingly only benefitted retailers. The study claimed that grocery retailers in New Jersey can profit up to $200‚000 per location off non-woven polypropylene bags‚ or $42 million across the state.The research also noted that the alternative bags are reused only two to three times before being discarded‚ falling short of the frequency of usage that would justify the switch from the traditional single-use plastics.Like Blaze News? In my story “January 6 and the N-word that wasn’t‚” I got something wrong. I said that in the years since that day‚ no evidence had yet appeared “showing that other police officers were on the receiving end of racial epithets and abuse.” I got something else wrong when I wrote‚ “If such evidence existed‚ it would have been ‘the N-word heard ’round the world’ and replayed by every major news agency‚ in every January 6-related story‚ without end.” As it turns out‚ there is audio and video evidence of the “N-word” being directed at a police officer on January 6. Inexplicably‚ however‚ no known left-leaning media source has jumped on it. The first mistake is the unsurprising part. Any crowd the size of the one that gathered in D.C. that fateful day would certainly have some small percentage of racist yahoos in its midst. And in what could be arguably the most video-recorded event in human history‚ it’s surprising we haven’t seen or heard more incidents of racial hatred. As to the second error‚ most mainstream media services will not run a story‚ a video report‚ or any photo from January 6 that doesn’t include scenes of violence or a Confederate flag. Never mind that of the hundreds of thousands of people who traveled to D.C. to attend the “Stop the Steal” rally‚ only a few hundred participated in any form of violent acts. And in a sea of flags being blown by the 25 mph winds that day‚ the rarest sight among those was the Confederate Stars and Bars. In one of my own videos shot on the Washington Monument lawn‚ a 360-degree pan shows thousands of flags of every type — except the one the corporate media has presented for three years as the most ubiquitous of all flags flying that day. As to my “N-word” challenge‚ one of those Sedition Hunters just this month came through on the third anniversary of January 6 by revealing the fact that in a November 3‚ 2021‚ court filing in the federal government’s case against Christopher Worrell of Naples‚ Florida‚ was an assertion by the government that officials recovered video from his phone that captured him verbally taunting police officers: “Another three videos taken shortly thereafter capture Mr. Worrell repeatedly yelling ‘F*** you’ around a dozen times while filming the U.S. Capitol Police. In one video‚ he says‚ ‘F*** you‚ n*****!’” In a private message exchange I’ve had with a Netherlands-based Sedition Hunter‚ she provided me with the unedited video of Worrell’s verbal tirade and the accompanying metadata from his cellphone video. FIRST-EVER Released Footage of "N-Word" Being Used on Jan 6‚ 2021 www.youtube.com NBC News justice reporter Ryan J. Reilly reposted a tweet that revealed the contents of that November 2021 court filing and Worrell’s N-word-laden rant. Why haven’t other media run with this story? In fact‚ during an in-person chat with Reilly several months ago‚ we discussed the surprising absence of any January 6 video containing the “N-word‚” but he failed to remember or bring up the Worrell example. Considering the number of January 6 trials and cases he follows‚ it’s understandable that he might forget some details and incidents. But … that one? I reached out to Worrell’s attorney‚ William Shipley‚ and asked if that video had been entered into evidence and played during Worrell’s trial. Shipley confirmed that it had but that he also didn’t recall any press presence in the courtroom at that time‚ which might explain why this didn’t make Worrell and that video nationally infamous. Worrell did eventually manage to earn a degree of national infamy. In May 2023‚ Worrell was found guilty of multiple felonies during a bench trial with Judge Royce C. Lamberth. The verdicts included assaulting a group of officers “with a deadly and dangerous weapon.” Then‚ only four days before his sentencing hearing in August‚ Worrell cut off his GPS ankle monitor and became a fugitive for the next six weeks. This action by Worrell and his ultimate arrest earned him national attention from virtually all major news services. Yet even with all that coverage‚ the press made no mention of his “N-word” video. I missed it‚ too. You will see and hear Worrell’s use of the “N-word” on January 6‚ apparently hurled in the direction of a black Capitol Police officer. According to the metadata screenshot supplied by the Dutch Sedition Hunter‚ this took place at 1:22 p.m. Eastern Time on the northern edge of the lower west terrace at the Capitol. According to the Sedition Hunter‚ former Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn told her that the officer seen on the balcony holding the M-4 rifle — standing to the left of the group of officers bunched behind the transparent shield — is the officer Dunn mentioned in his book who had been “confronted by insurrectionists” and told‚ “Put your gun down‚ and we’ll show you what kind of n***** you really are!” The Sedition Hunter identified that particular cop only as “Officer S.” This unnamed Sedition Hunter who runs the X page called “Capitol Terrorists Exposers” also shared that Dunn himself is not seen from any camera angle during this time because “this was also the moment Dunn was getting other officers aid.” Given the crowd noise and distance between Worrell and “Officer S‚” it’s not likely this was the “N-word” heard by that officer. But‚ again‚ I am not saying‚ nor have I ever said‚ that no black officer heard racial epithets on January 6. What I have written and stated is that no black Capitol Police officer I have yet interviewed has had that experience. I have also still failed to find audio-visual evidence of now-congressional candidate Harry Dunn’s claim to have had “20‚ 30‚ 40‚ 50 people” chanting “Boo! F***ing n*****!” at him. If the Sedition Hunters — or anyone else — can provide that video‚ I promise to post it.

First-year law students at the University of Wisconsin were reportedly forced to take a mandatory seminar that told them there are "no exceptional white people" and that "whites collude" to commit "genocidal attacks."The students were lectured in the seminar by Joey Oteng‚ who is officially the Dean's Fellow of Inclusive Excellence at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Oteng also refers to himself as a "social justice educator/PhD student‚ lawyer‚ blogger" and "Educational Consultant" on his Instagram.Students were given literature to prepare them for the lecture‚ which included the document "28 Common Racist Attitudes and Behaviors."Each type of racist attitude listed was followed by a "reality check" and an alleged consequence of that attitude. For example‚ being "color-blind‚" according to the material‚ actually means a person is "afraid to discuss racism.""'Color-blindness' negates the cultural values‚ norms‚ expectations‚ and life experiences of people of color. Even if an individual white person could ignore a person’s color‚ society does not‚" the document read. "By saying we are not different‚ that you don’t see the color‚ you are also saying you don’t see your whiteness. This denies the people of colors’ [sic] experience of racism and your experience of privilege."The literature even considered white people who consider other whites to be racist as a form of racist "denial‚" leaving no possibility that a white person cannot be benefitting from racism in some form."There are no 'exceptional white people.' You may have attended many anti-racism workshops; you may not be shouting racist epithets or actively discriminating against people of color‚ but you still experience privilege based on your white skin color. You benefit from this system of oppression and advantage no matter what your intentions are."According to the Federalist‚ a source who attended the session said parts felt like a confessional rather than a seminar. A man from upstate New York who shot and killed a young woman who had made a wrong turn into his driveway has now been convicted of her murder.On a Saturday night last April‚ 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis‚ her boyfriend‚ and others were heading out for a night of fun at a friend's house in Hebron‚ a rural area of upstate New York near the Vermont border‚ about 40 miles north of Albany. The group piled into an SUV with Gillis' boyfriend behind the wheel and she in the passenger seat next to him.That particular area is dark and heavily wooded‚ and the young people had difficulty finding their way. At some point‚ they made a truly fatal mistake‚ pulling into a driveway they thought belonged to their friend.They were wrong. As Blaze News reported last year‚ they had accidentally pulled into the driveway of the home belonging to Kevin Monahan and his wife. The group quickly realized their mistake‚ and Gillis' boyfriend began trying to turn the vehicle around. Before they managed to leave the property‚ though‚ Monahan fired two shotgun blasts‚ the second of which struck Gillis in the neck. Gillis died before first responders could attempt to render aid. Police later estimated that the errant SUV was on Monahan's property for no more than 90 seconds.Monahan was arrested later that night and charged with second-degree murder. Officers on the scene claimed he showed "no remorse."At his trial earlier this month‚ the defense team repeatedly argued that Monahan thought his house was "under siege" and that he never intended to hurt anyone. Monahan even took the stand‚ testifying that he fired the first shot as a warning to scare away intruders. Unfortunately‚ nails on his porch then caused him to trip‚ he explained to the jury. He then accidentally dropped the weapon‚ and as it hit the ground‚ it "went off.""I didn’t mean to shoot the second shot‚" Monahan insisted.The jury didn't buy it. On Tuesday‚ despite two weeks of testimony and other arguments‚ they took less than two hours to find Monahan‚ 66‚ guilty. He now faces up to 25 years to life in prison. Andy Gillis‚ Kaylin's father‚ claimed that the family is "very happy with" the verdict. "It’s been a long nine months‚ and we’ve been waiting for justice‚ hoping for justice‚" he said."Obviously‚ it’s not going to change anything. It’s not going to bring Kaylin back‚ but it’s a start for us to start healing."After Kaylin's senseless death‚ the Gillis family moved to Florida to grieve and try to start new lives. Andy Gillis said that while he hasn't yet forgiven Monahan‚ he may "someday." "Right now‚ I am not even thinking about that‚" he told WNYT. "But who knows? Time will tell."Neighbors in Hebron had little to offer in Monahan's defense‚ claiming that he often became enraged whenever motorists mistook his driveway for a road. The city of Seattle‚ Washington‚ agreed Wednesday to pay $10 million to settle a lawsuit from a group of Black Lives Matter protesters who participated in the violent and destructive 2020 riots following the death of George Floyd.A Wednesday press release from the city revealed that Seattle is settling a complaint filed by a group of 50 protesters in September 2020 who claimed they were injured by police while participating in the demonstrations. Seattle admitted to no wrongdoing.According to the city‚ the complaint involved hundreds of interactions between the protesters and local law enforcement officials‚ over a million pages of records‚ over 10‚000 videos‚ hundreds of witness interviews‚ and extensive court filings. “This decision was the best financial decision for the City considering risk‚ cost‚ and insurance‚” Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison said. “The case has been a significant drain on the time and resources of the City and would have continued to be so through an estimated three-month trial that was scheduled to begin in May.”“This settlement resolves the majority of the remaining claims arising out of the 2020 demonstration period and is a big step toward allowing the City to focus on the important work of today‚ while moving forward from events four years ago‚” Davison added.The riots‚ which were ignited as a result of the death of George Floyd in May 2020‚ led to the destruction of many local businesses‚ significant property damage‚ and even injury and death.A six-block area in Seattle was taken over by BLM activists who declared it an autonomous zone‚ called the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone‚ which was also referred to as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. The rioters forced police out of the area‚ where multiple people were shot and two were murdered.According to the plantiffs’ attorneys‚ one of the protesters suffered a heart attack after she was hit by a blast ball fired by the Seattle Police Department‚ the Seattle Times reported. Another plaintiff‚ a veteran who uses a cane‚ was allegedly “gassed and tackled because he didn’t retreat fast enough.” The lawyers claimed that “dozens of others who suffered permanent hearing loss‚ broken bones‚ concussion‚ wounds‚ bruising and emotional damage” as a result of the SPD’s response.Judge Sandra Widlan rejected Seattle’s argument that the protesters “assumed the risk” of being injured by law enforcement when they chose to participate in the riots. Even with the exorbitant‚ objective evidence that a significant number of the protesters who attended the demonstrations were highly destructive and violent‚ the corporate media continues to claim that the activists participated in a peaceful protest where they were exercising their right to free speech.The plaintiffs’ lead attorney‚ Karen Koehler‚ claimed her clients “were engaged in a First Amendment speech and activity against the very police brutality which they were met with.” She slammed the city for not admitting to wrongdoing.“They should have said‚ ‘We’re sorry that we were punks and brutalized peaceful protesters‚’” Koehler said.Despite leftists’ claims that the 2020 riots were not destructive‚ Seattle previously agreed to pay $3.6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen business owners and residents whose properties incurred significant damages at the hands of the so-called “peaceful protesters‚” Blaze News previously reported. A new poll has revealed that over half of Democrats support lethal discrimination against babies diagnosed with Down syndrome. The latest Marist poll commissioned by the Knights of Columbus revealed this week that 58% of Americans surveyed oppose or strongly oppose abortion "because the child will be born with Down Syndrome." 39% of respondents alternatively said they support or strongly support the selective termination of members of that group of human beings previously lumped into the category of "lives not worth living" by the Nazi regime and gleefully targeted for eradication in recent years by other eugenicist nations. These responses reflect significant changes since 2021‚ when the annual Knights of Columbus-Marist Poll found that 69% of Americans were against aborting babies with Down syndrome and only 22% signaled support. Responses this year were even more damning when broken down according to respondents' general views on abortion and political affiliation. 54% of self-described "pro-choice" respondents said they supported the termination of potential politicians‚ actors‚ religious role models‚ and artists on the basis of Down syndrome diagnoses. Self-identified Democrats were even more supportive of the program — 56% said they supported or strongly supported abortion in cases where the baby has Down syndrome. By way of comparison‚ only 24% of Republicans signaled support and 39% of self-identified independents expressed support. Down syndrome or trisomy 21 is a genetic disorder that varies in severity but does not preclude those affected from living long and fulfilling lives. According to the Mayo Clinic‚ it is caused when abnormal cell division produces an extra full or partial copy of chromosome 21. Granted the continued need to protect people with Down syndrome‚ Kansas Rep. Ron Estes (R) re-introduced legislation Thursday that would federally ban physicians from knowingly performing an abortion because a baby received a prenatal diagnosis of trisomy 21. The "Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act‚" which has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary‚ notes that the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs ruling "correctly affirmed that there is no constitutional right to abort an unborn child and that the Court's prior decision in Roe was not based in the Constitution's text nor was it deeply rooted in the history and tradition of the United States." Estes' bill also highlights that federal law presently protects people with disabilities from discrimination‚ including in the provision of medical care.The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act‚ for instance‚ states‚ "Disability is a natural part of the human experience and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to participate in or contribute to society." Estes' bill further underscores that individuals with Down syndrome "are inherently valuable and worthy of dignity and respect. They enrich and strengthen our society in countless ways‚ including but not limited to by building meaningful relationships‚ participating in and creating families‚ learning‚ and working alongside other Americans." Despite this understanding‚ people with Down syndrome are nevertheless targeted for destruction here and abroad. According to a 2012 study published in the journal Prenatal Diagnosis‚ the weighted mean abortion rate for babies diagnosed with Down syndrome in the U.S. was 67%. Joint Economic Committee Republicans estimated in 2022 that 80% more babies with Down syndrome would be born every year absent selective abortion. The Independent reported that Iceland only sees one or two children with Down syndrome born every year because nearly all expectant mothers on the island who receive a positive prenatal test have their child promptly executed. H.R. 461 would make it unlawful to kill an unborn baby on the basis of a test or prenatal diagnosis indicating the child has Down syndrome. Additionally‚ it would prohibit the use of coercion or intimidation to prompt a mother into getting an abortion on the basis of her baby's Down syndrome diagnosis. "Having one more chromosome should never be validation for ending life‚ and the Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act protects individuals with disabilities‚" Estes said in a statement. "This is common-sense legislation that will save precious lives." The resolution has received support in both chambers of Congress. Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) will reportedly soon introduce a companion bill in the Senate. "Every life is created with God-given dignity and potential — no matter how small or how many chromosomes they may have‚" said Daines. "We are making great strides to build a culture of life in America‚ but there is more work to be done. Now more than ever it's critical we continue our fight on the federal level to be a voice for the most vulnerable and protect young moms from the dangers of do-it-yourself chemical abortions." The Knights of Columbus-Marist poll also revealed that 20% of Democratic respondents supported or strongly supported abortion on the basis of the babies' sex. 86% of all respondents indicated they were opposed to sex-selective abortions. 66% of all respondents suggested there should limits placed on when abortion is allowed. 49% of Democrats and 84% of Republicans agreed.
