Jew-Hatred On Campus. Will America Tolerate It?

“Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate your code of conduct or rules regarding bullying and harassment?” This is the question that was asked of the presidents of the University of Pennsylvania‚ MIT and Harvard on Tuesday in Congress.. Not one president simply answered‚ “Yes.” High school seniors have a lot on their minds. Beyond the regular trials and tribulations of an American teenager‚ upperclassmen in high schools across America spend much of their time deciding which college they should attend. The options are vast. The American post-secondary education system is robust and options are aplenty. But for American Jewish high school students‚ the question they suddenly need to ask is whether they will be safe on the college campus of their choosing. Unfortunately‚ the answer at many of our nation’s top universities is unequivocally “No.” This is where we are as a society in America today. The data is as stark as the anecdotal evidence. Even before the outburst of overt and aggressive anti-Semitism on campuses that came after Hamas’ atrocious‚ inhumane terror attacks on Israeli civilians on October 7‚ Jewish college students were not feeling safe on college campuses across the country. The trouble was that before October 7 no one seemed to believe them. In the school year prior to the October 7 attacks‚ almost 75% of Jewish college students in American directly experienced anti-Semitism. Anti-Jewish hate crimes led the FBI’s statistics of hate crimes against a religious group by a large margin‚ even before this school year’s explosion of anti-Semitism. The anti-Semites in and around college campuses often yelled foul when being charged with being anti-Semites and instead often retorted that they were simply anti-Israel‚ anti-colonialism‚ or anti-Netanyahu. In desperate need of finding a cover for their Jew-hatred‚ college students and professors that engaged in obvious anti-Semitism grasped at proverbial straws to hide behind other supposed social justice issues of the day. Categorizing Israel and the Jewish people as part of the “oppressor class‚” they reasoned‚ allowed them to justify‚ defend‚ and even celebrate the mass rape and slaughter of over 1‚400 Israeli civilians on October 7. This asinine and dangerous position is expressed at rally after rally‚ in opinion pieces published in school papers‚ in lectures by professors‚ and on social media. This is the fallacious lens through which so many in academia have decided to view the world. Their faux-intellectualism and moral ineptitude has been exposed since October 7. Since then‚ professors and college students alike simply call for the end of the Jewish people and/or the Jewish state. They call for slitting the throats of Jews or for a global intifada. Students are harassed and assaulted while walking through campus. Universities‚ for the most part‚ allow this all to happen and advise the Jewish students that they should go in through the back door or hide in the library until it is over. Gone are the days of intellectual debates on college campuses‚ where viewpoints are expressed and debated. After years of telling professors and students alike that language can be violent‚ microaggressions are to be challenged‚ safe spaces must be created for marginalized groups‚ and equity offices must be established to protect all students‚ it turns out that none of those platitudes apply to the Jewish community. When it comes to Jews‚ students and professors seem to have carte blanche to call for their murder‚ celebrate their mass rape‚ and to harass and intimidate Jewish students across the country. Today‚ many college campuses are more reminiscent of the 1930s Germany‚ where the Nazis pushed their ideologies‚ than the American university system that educated so many for the past several decades. The American people heard three university presidents testifying before Congress about the rise of anti-Semitism on their campuses on Tuesday. The hearing was jaw-dropping. For the most part‚ these elite university presidents at UPenn‚ MIT and Harvard‚ refused to clearly condemn anti-Semitism and seemed almost smug in their responses about calls for genocide of Jewish students on campus. Hiding behind the First Amendment was a convenient‚ yet legally deficient space to bury their condoning of Jew-hatred. In short‚ you may have a constitutionally protected right to say something‚ but you don’t have a constitutional right to go to these universities. Moreover‚ there are limits to our constitutional rights. The Second Amendment provides Americans the right to carry a weapon‚ yet individuals aren’t permitted to carry a weapon on college campuses in almost half the states in our country. Similarly‚ the First Amendment has well established limitations‚ including incitement of violence‚ intimidation and harassment. These limitations are well-established at these universities; they would surely (and justly) expel‚ fire or discipline students or faculty calling for the mass murder of blacks‚ gays‚ or any other group of people. The university presidents‚ however‚ were not making legal arguments; they were simply looking for a place to hide their anti-Semitic policies. Rest assured that these three University presidents are not alone. American Jewish college students are being subjected to overt hatred‚ harassment and intimidation in many universities across our nation. The anti-Semitic conduct is coming not only from students‚ but from staff and faculty‚ all while being protected by their administrations. Of course‚ there are exceptions. Not every school is a hotbed for anti-Semitism in our nation‚ but that is the point. Jewish high school students today are forced to decide which college is right for them not on the basis of the best academic programs for them‚ but instead whether the university they want to attend will even be safe for them. Our tolerance for anti-Semitism in our nation’s institutions‚ including our universities‚ must be zero. University boards must hold their presidents and deans accountable. The temperature has risen to intolerable levels for Jews across our great nation‚ and no place is this more evident than in our nation’s top universities. Remember‚ the students of today are our political and social leaders of tomorrow. It is the responsibility of all Americans to make it clear — in no unequivocal terms — that anti-Semitism will no longer be accepted in our institutions. While ending the world’s oldest and most pervasive form of hatred — Jew-hatred — will not be achievable‚ insuring that our universities protect Jewish students and dispose of rabid antisemitic students‚ faculty and administrators is a good start. Gabriel Groisman is the former mayor of Bal Harbour‚ Florida.

Rich Eisen Blasts College Presidents Who Gave ‘Frightening’ Answers About Callling For Genocide Of Jews

Rich Eisen typically sticks to sports talk‚ but he said he had to speak out about top college presidents who he said gave “frightening” answers when asked if calling for the genocide of Jews was acceptable. During the “Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday‚ the sports host slammed the “unacceptable responses” from university presidents of Harvard‚ Penn State and MIT who were asked in a congressional hearing if calling for “genocide” warrants a violation of their respective campus’ codes of conduct or rules regarding bullying and harassment. The school officials asserted it all depended on context‚ noting that the schools would take action if the speech became “conduct‚” as previously reported. Eisen said the answers from the school presidents not being able to say “unequivocally‚ yeah that violates it” and “equivocating with a bunch of word salad and nonsense” was frightening. “Oh so we have to have genocide before you kick someone off the campus?” the sports journalist said. “How about the context of being against genocide of all? By just allowing that speech makes people comfortable to commit the genocide. You understand that? By not being uniquivecal in saying ‘yes‚ this is a violation. And anybody who violates it is off campus. They can’t go to Harvard‚ Penn or MIT.'” Today‚ @richeisen took time out from our usual show fare to respond to the unacceptable responses from @penn @harvard @MIT presidents at a US House hearing about anti-semitism on campus. pic.twitter.com/YUwltJhy9W — Rich Eisen Show (@RichEisenShow) December 6‚ 2023 “By saying ‘well it depends on this‚ that and the other thing‚’ makes them comfortable to commit the genocide‚” he added. “It is the lesson you learn when you walk into museums of tolerance or Holocaust museums around the world. Including ones that I’ve been to recently in Berlin‚ Germany and Tel Aviv‚ Israel.” “It’s the first lesson you learn and I can’t believe you got to tell people who lead these instituions of higher learning that‚” Eisen continued. “I can not believe the answers I heard. It is frightening to see those answers from people in leadership and higher education. Are you kidding me? The answer is yes when you’re advocating against genocide against anybody that’s a violation of code of conduct and is a form of harassing and bullying. Forget the context.” Eisen said he has family members that went to those respective schools and before that hearing he would’ve been advocating for his three children to follow in their footsteps. But he said after seeing the “answers I saw and heard” from the school presidents — not a chance. “I never thought in a million years that I would never want to send my kids to these schools. Forget that‚” he added.

Wisconsin Governor Vetoes Bill That Would Have Banned Trans Surgeries On Children

Wisconsin Democratic Governor Tony Evers vetoed a bill on Wednesday that would have protected kids from irreversible transgender surgeries and hormone procedures. The bill‚ which passed the Republican-controlled state legislature‚ would have banned procedures like double mastectomies on girls who identify as boys‚ and giving children puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. Cross-sex hormones can impact bone development‚ fertility‚ and heart health. “While the governor’s veto of this legislation is certainly not surprising‚ it serves as a stark reminder of just how out of touch with reality Governor Evers is‚” Republican state Sen. Duey Stroebel said. “Protecting children from invasive and irreversible medical interventions is the right thing to do from both a scientific and ethical standpoint.” While Republicans hold a veto-proof majority in the Senate‚ they are two seats short in the state Assembly. In Kentucky‚ where the governor’s office is held by Democrat Governor Andy Beshear‚ Republicans were able to override Beshear’s veto to ban transgender procedures on children. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos decried Evers’ veto‚ saying that it was misguided. “Evers made another harmful mistake. Such a life-altering decision should be made when you’re an adult‚ not a child. Many countries‚ including Norway‚ Sweden‚ Finland‚ the United Kingdom‚ and the Netherlands‚ do not allow for gender transition surgery before the age of 18‚” he said in a post on X. CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Evers‚ a former school official who portrays himself as a moderate‚ claimed that the bill would have made Wisconsin less safe. “This type of legislation‚ and the rhetoric beget by pursuing it‚ harms LGBTQ people and kids’ mental health‚ emboldens anti-LGBTQ hate and violence‚ and threatens the safety and dignity of LGBTQ Wisconsinites‚” Evers said in his veto message. “I will veto any bill that makes Wisconsin a less safe‚ less inclusive‚ and less welcoming place for LGBTQ people and kids.” More than 20 states have passed bills protecting children from transgender procedures. Left-wing legal groups have sought to challenge the laws with various degrees of success. The ACLU‚ which lost a challenge to Tennessee’s law before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals‚ has petitioned the Supreme Court to weigh in on the case. Evers‚ who was up for re-election in 2022‚ has blocked conservative-backed bills on voting‚ abortion‚ and gun rights.

House Advances Resolution To Censure Bowman

The GOP-led House opted on Wednesday to advance a resolution to censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) for pulling a fire alarm in a congressional office building. A motion to table the measure from the Democrats failed by a 216-201 vote. Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA)‚ who is the ranking member of the ethics panel that declined to investigate Bowman over the incident‚ voting “present.” Another 16 members did not vote. Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) introduced the censure resolution on Tuesday as “privileged‚” prompting House leadership to act on the measure within two legislative days. Debate on the censure resolution has begun and a final vote is expected to take place as soon as Thursday. “Nobody is above the law‚ Congressmen included‚” McClain said. Today‚ I introduced a PRIVILEGED RESOLUTION to censure Representative Bowman for knowingly causing a false alarm of a fire while the House worked to avert a government shutdown. Nobody is above the law‚ Congressmen included. pic.twitter.com/nMfgOq8uxv — Representative Lisa McClain (@RepLisaMcClain) December 5‚ 2023 Bowman took a plea deal on a misdemeanor count of falsely pulling a fire alarm that resulted in a temporary evacuation of the Cannon House Office Building in late September ahead of a government spending vote. The congressman has apologized for the incident and denied that he pulled the fire alarm as a delay tactic. “Unfortunately‚ Republicans are here trying to rehash an already litigated matter‚ a matter in which the Republican-controlled House committee of ethics decided to not proceed with any further investigation‚” Bowman said during debate on the censure resolution. “This is an insult to the people I was elected to represent.” McClain‚ in advocating for her resolution‚ said in a post to X‚ “Actions must be met with consequences. Rep. Bowman pulling a fire alarm to curtail an act of Congress was unacceptable and against the law. For that‚ he must stand before Congress and accept Censure.” Last week‚ Rep. George Santos (R-NY) moved to force a House vote to expel Bowman‚ but the embattled New York Republican got expelled the next day. His expulsion followed the release of a scathing House Ethics Committee report. Santos also faces 23 federal charges —  including aggravated identity theft‚ wire fraud‚ and conspiracy — to which he has pleaded not guilty. A censure against a member of the House is essentially a formal rebuke of that lawmaker. It is a less severe form of punishment than expulsion. House members who have been censured this year include Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
