PBS Provides More Public Relations for Planned Parenthood: '7‚000 Fewer Abortions' Is Bad

The taxpayer-supported PBS News Weekend show on Saturday provided some helpful PR for the abortion megaplex Planned Parenthood. It’s been a favorite source for pro-abortion alarmist takes ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022. As usual with PBS‚ there are no voices raised to celebrate saving infant lives‚ but a single-minded focus on the lost opportunities to abort‚ with the hardest cases presented as commonplace. Host John Yang portrayed good news for life as bad news in the over-seven-minute-long segment: Yang: While the number of legal abortions has gone up nationwide since the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade‚ a recent report from a group that supports reproductive rights says there have been sharp declines in states that impose new restrictions on abortion access. One of those states‚ Wisconsin‚ saw around 7‚000 fewer abortions in the year following the court's decision than the state's annual average. Marisa Wojcik of PBS Wisconsin spoke with doctors there about the effect on their work and on their patients. Jenn Vollstedt‚ Former Labor and Delivery Nurse: When I got the results‚ I knew what I wanted to do. It was really hard emotionally. I was devastated. I wanted that baby. Marisa Wojcik: Jenn Vollstedt is a former labor and delivery nurse in Milwaukee. At 12 weeks pregnant‚ Vollstedt was told something wasn't right. At 19 weeks pregnant‚ she found out she and her unborn child were at risk. Vollstedt: I knew that if I carried that pregnancy to term I was putting my own health at risk. And I also knew that my baby if she survived a term would only suffer. Wojcik: Jenn Vollstedt made her decision while abortion was still legal. The cascade of events following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling overturning the constitutional right to an abortion hit states like Wisconsin the hardest‚ creating a near total abortion ban in the state one year ago. Wojcik found her Planned Parenthood source. Wojcik: Before Roe v. Wade was overturned‚ Dr. Kristen Lyerly‚ an OB/GYN from Green Bay‚ counseled patients at one of the few Planned Parenthood clinics in Wisconsin that provided abortions following the decision she Dr. Ford and Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh‚ a maternal fetal medicine physician in Milwaukee‚ joined a lawsuit challenging the 1849 law. Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh‚ Maternal Fetal Medicine: Now we're operating this narrow channel of providing the best care‚ not committing malpractice‚ and being careful not to break a law. These pregnant people either have high-risk conditions themselves‚ so medical complications. But on the flip side‚ we also take care of fetuses. So it's the most family-centered outcome that we can. Wojcik: Prior to the Supreme Court's ruling‚ Wisconsin patients and physicians had more options when it came to making decisions about reproductive health care. By “reproductive health care‚” Wojcik means abortion‚ though her report was heavy on euphemisms to avoid the word‚ both from Wojcik and the abortion doctors she interviewed. Wojcik: Some physicians like Dr. Lyerly‚ left Wisconsin so they can continue to provide reproductive care without fear of prosecution. Wojcik‚ ostensibly a reporter‚ called for changing the abortion laws of Wisconsin. Wojcik: Physicians worry‚ not only about the consequences today‚ but those yet to come….And for Jenn Vollstedt‚ she hopes in the future Wisconsinites will be able to navigate these difficult decisions without the barriers in place today. Wojcik’s PBS piece is getting predictable praise from pro-abortion like the Collaborative for Reproductive Equity at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The latest abortion-supporting piece was brought to you in part by Consumer Cellular‚ and by taxpayers like you. A transcript is available‚ click “Expand.” PBS News Weekend 12/2/23 6:15:27 p.m. (ET) John Yang: While the number of legal abortions has gone up nationwide since the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade‚ a recent report from a group that supports Reproductive Rights says there have been sharp declines in states that impose new restrictions on abortion access. One of those states Wisconsin saw around 7‚000 fewer abortions in the year following the court's decision than the state's annual average. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Jenn Vollstedt is a former labor and delivery nurse in Milwaukee. At 12 weeks pregnant‚ Volstead was told something wasn't right. At 19 weeks pregnant‚ she found out she and her unborn child were at risk. Jenn Vollstedt: I knew that if I carried that pregnancy to term I was putting my own health at risk. And I also knew that my baby if she survived a term would only suffer. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Jenn Vollstedt made her decision while abortion was still legal. The cascade of events following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling overturning the constitutional right to an abortion hit states like Wisconsin the hardest creating a near total abortion ban in the state one year ago. Christopher Ford‚ Emergency Medicine: We have yet to see what systemic consequences this this this law will have. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Healthcare providers like Christopher Ford‚ a Milwaukee based emergency medicine physician found themselves in legal limbo‚ when the default legal standing reverted back to a law from 1849. It says destroying the life of an unborn child is a felony‚ except to save the life of the mother. Christopher Ford: We are in a situation where that interpretation of a law from 1849 is really a gray area. Dr. Kristen Lyerly‚ Obstetrician-Gynecologist: We didn't even know that germs cause disease in 1849. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Before Roe v. Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh‚ Maternal Fetal Medicine: Now we're operating this narrow channel of providing the best care not committing malpractice‚ and being careful not to break a law. These pregnant people either have high risk conditions themselves‚ so medical complications. But on the flip side‚ we also take care of fetuses. So it's the most Family Centered Outcome that we can. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Prior to the Supreme Court's ruling‚ Wisconsin patients and physicians had more options when it came to making decisions about reproductive health care. Dr. Kristen Lyerly: We would have conversations about what all their options were. We would talk about everything. Sometimes we would connect them with prenatal care. Sometimes we would connect them with adoption services. Sometimes they would go home and think about it. And they just wouldn't return for that second visit. But often they did. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Now these doctors are managing a much different reality. Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh: If it becomes clear that they're leaning towards a termination‚ I have to say‚ unfortunately‚ this is illegal in the state of Wisconsin. And if this is what you choose to pursue‚ then we'll have to give you information on how to pursue this out of state. And it feels like I'm abandoning my patients and saying that. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Some physicians like Dr. Lyerly‚ left Wisconsin so they can continue to provide reproductive care without fear of prosecution. Dr. Kristen Lyerly: I have the joy of working in rural Minnesota and Northern Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. So in a way‚ it's very satisfying. But the truth is‚ I want to be home. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): For those who stayed they must now navigate a law that many doctors feel is unclear. Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh: It's intrinsically vague‚ which then causes physicians to potentially second guess like is this risky enough? Because everyone who practices medicine knows that it can be very gray for a while and then become very black and white. And you the longer you wait to intervene. The worst outcomes are in general. Christopher Ford: We've heard reports‚ you know‚ in other states that have very strict abortion bans like we do here in Wisconsin in which‚ you know‚ we've had patients that have been told to wait in the car until they become even more unstable in order to present to the emergency department. So at that point in time‚ they can do something about it. Now‚ of course‚ that's an egregious example. And that's something that we don't aspire to. However‚ that is someone's interpretation of the law. Dr. Kristen Lyerly: There was a time when I was in Minnesota‚ where someone presented‚ she was bleeding‚ she was 21 weeks pregnant with a desire pregnancy‚ but she was bleeding so much that she had to go to the operating room right away‚ and I had to perform an abortion. And I couldn't help but to think to myself‚ if this was happening to be in Wisconsin‚ I would be terrified about what the next steps would be about what the implications for my future my career would be. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): Physicians worry‚ not only about the consequences today‚ but those yet to come. Christopher Ford: What I'm seeing over and over and over again‚ is this getting worse over time. And a lot of it has to do with the access of health care‚ with the access of care to Obstetrics and Gynecology‚ and a lot of the voices that are at the table right now. Don't see these patients‚ and they don't have any medical background‚ but they're making these decisions. Dr. Jenn Jury McIntosh: I just want to do my job. So the fact that politics are trying to be present in my exam room‚ present in the back of my mind‚ as I'm looking at a patient and talking to that patient and their family‚ that it's impacting that at all feels crazy to me. Because really‚ we should just be providing the best evidence based medical care that we can that's right for that patient and right for their family. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): And for Jenn Vollstedt‚ she hopes in the future Wisconsinites will be able to navigate these difficult decisions without the barriers in place today. Jenn Vollstedt: Now‚ when I look back‚ I feel so recovered and healed. I also wouldn't have my son if I didn't have this abortion because of the timing if I had to carry it in term. Julian‚ he is — he just turned six and he is one of the most joyful and curious people I've ever met‚ the more we try to focus on‚ is that right or wrong? Or is that okay? The more we're focused on making choices for other people‚ when we're not involved in their health care‚ and we're not medical professionals. Marisa Wojcik (voice-over): For PBS News Weekend‚ I'm Marisa Wojcik‚ in Milwaukee‚ Wisconsin.

Nothing to See Here! Leftist So-Called ‘Media Literacy’ Firm Pulls Curtains After MRC Exposé

Disgraced media ratings firm Ad Fontes shut the curtains and hid damning data from paying subscribers following MRC Free Speech America’s scathing exposé on the self-dubbed arbiter of truth and facts. So much for the company’s claims of being transparent. Ad Fontes‚ a powerful tool in the left’s arsenal as it attempts to destroy right-leaning media‚ will limit users’ ability to review the company’s dubious ratings‚ according to a press release from the company. Strikingly‚ the move came after MRC researchers used this now-limited data to expose the company’s partisan targeting of right-leaning media. Ad Fontes issued a mass email to its subscribers on Nov. 21 — exactly three months after MRC’s exposé — announcing the drastic change. According to the new policy‚ Ad Fontes will only allow users to review a scant total of 250 media entities‚ a stark contrast to its previous policy that permitted users to freely view its ratings of over 7‚000 media entities. Related: MRC ORIGINAL: Media Literacy Firm Rigged to Favor Left-Wing Media On Sept. 21‚ MRC published a report showing that Ad Fontes disproportionately treated right-leaning media more harshly than media entities on the left. How so? A generous 64 percent of leftist media reviewed by Ad Fontes were dubbed “reliable‚” a strikingly high percentage compared to the mere 32 percent of right-leaning media deemed “reliable.” Ad Fontes faced scorching criticism‚ perhaps for the first time since its 2018 inception‚ following  MRC’s review of the leftist company’s publicly available ratings. Most recently‚ MRC highlighted that Ad Fontes‚ the self-proclaimed seeker of truth and reliability‚ has been missing in action. Notably‚ the group did not rate the leftist media rags that falsely and irresponsibly claimed that Israeli forces bombed a Gaza-based hospital. Related: Guess Which Stories Media Literacy Firm Ad Fontes Didn’t Rate After Gaza Hospital ‘Bombing’ Ad Fontes claimed that its dramatic limits are necessary “to grow sustainability as a business.” In an email‚ Ad Fontes declared‚ “Unfortunately‚ we’ve experienced too many instances of users working around our paywalls and/or buying low-cost individual memberships to scrape our data for commercial purposes.” Yet the change marks a stark departure from Ad Fontes’ purported pledge to be transparent about its leftist ratings.  Specifically‚ the decision to limit its data is at odds with the company’s proclamation of transparency and accessibility. On its website‚ Ad Fontes calls “methodological transparency” the “most important mechanism” to mitigate “bias and potential conflicts of interest.” Echoing these claims‚ Ad Fontes communications director Jennifer Arvin Furlong touted on Nov. 26 its so-called “transparen[cy]” as one of the reasons Ad Fontes “has become an essential leader” in media literacy education. In other words: Don’t believe your lying eyes‚ there’s nothing to see here‚ folks. Conservatives are under attack. Contact ABC News (818) 460-7477‚ CBS News (212) 975-3247 and NBC News (212) 664-6192 and demand they report on Ad Fontes’s egregious left-wing bias.

Feud Erupts Between Trad Wife and Feminists on Twitter Over Little Girl Cooking

A few images of a TikTok video were shared to Twitter Tuesday that showed a mom and her daughter baking together. So‚ naturally‚ it sparked a debate between those who understand the Biblical role of a wife and those who think men are the scum of the Earth. The post‚ which now has over 3‚500‚000 views on Twitter‚ featured three photos of a mom holding her little girl and baking with their mixer. The words on the images read‚ “I’m teaching my daughter that it’s perfectly acceptable to depend on a man. That being a home maker is the number 1 career she should strive for &; that serving her husband &; bearing her children will be her greatest joy.” Coming from a girl whose only dream and desire is to raise her babies‚ I wholeheartedly love this post.  Others‚ however‚ couldn't disagree more. The account that posted the images called the mother in the video a “repugnant class traitor‚” and another commented that teaching a child to cook was “actual grooming.”  Another user said‚ “If I had a mom like that‚ I’d rub it in her face on a daily how gay and how happily independent I am‚ while she serves her man and stays in an unhappy marriage.” One more wrote‚ “She's just a kid and her mom is already thinking about her having kids and being a servant to a man.” Related: EXPOSED: Some ‘Christian’ Nonprofits Support Abortion Funnily enough‚ the girl who wrote that comment looks like she’s a servant to the things of the world. Not to mention‚ there’s a difference between the Biblical submission of a wife serving her husband (who is commanded to sacrificially love his wife in the same verse) and being a slave. The mother isn’t advocating for the latter.  The thing is‚ if that little girl in the image grows up to be a brain surgeon or cure cancer‚ she’ll be no more or less of a woman than one who chooses to stay home and raise her babies‚ and vice versa. That’s all the original video was aiming to point out.  Thankfully‚ some users pointed out how beautiful the message in the video was. “Relatable” host Allie Beth Stuckey replied sarcastically saying‚ “Right-  women should instead be taught to work 60 hours a week at a soulless job for a boss who doesn’t care about them and to have an abortion to make sure she can get that promotion to earn an extra $2‚000 a year! Liberating!” Another user admitted to how fulfilled she felt after choosing to stay home with her children.  “I homeschool my kids. I have a masters degree and used to work for a big corporation.  That felt like such a soul suck versus the work I do with and for my children‚” she wrote. Look — If a woman wants to work her whole life or needs to for financial reasons‚ so be it. If she doesn’t‚ what’s the point? What’s the point of working a 9-to-5 and using your whole paycheck to afford daycare for someone else to watch your kids? If you’re doing that to prove that you’re “independent‚” that's stupid.  If women do want to work and not raise kids‚ so be it. But this mom‚ who is merely teaching her daughter about the joys of being a wife and a mother‚ is doing nothing wrong‚ and people need to get off their high horses and move on. In the same vein‚ if she isn’t allowed to teach her kid how to serve in roles like those‚ then likewise progressives can’t teach their kids about how to masturbate‚ how to have gay sex and how to change their gender.  Follow us on Twitter/X: Al Gore thinks that social media algorithms lead to insanity and should be banned. Do you agree? pic.twitter.com/UUbXECbXbs — MRCTV (@mrctv) December 6‚ 2023

NPR Offers Leila Fadel Coddle to Liz Cheney

Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio was aggressively competing to be the most interview spot for Liz Cheney on Monday's Morning Edition. Anchor Leila Fadel was every bit as promotional as say‚ Asma Khalid was with Kamala Harris a year ago. Cheney is now in the pantheon of Democrat heroes. The headline was a typical repetition of Liz's message:  Democracy is at stake if Trump is reelected‚ Liz Cheney warns in her new book Fadel surely enjoyed the idea of ripping House Republicans as spineless traitors to the Constitution: LEILA FADEL: Now‚ you don't hold back in this book. You name names. Former speaker Kevin McCarthy comes off as a hypocrite and a coward. You write that he told you Trump knew he'd lost the election. And yet McCarthy repeats these lies and ends up publicly defending the president after the attack on the Capitol. You also write about current speaker Mike Johnson‚ also an election denier. You say he was easily swayed by flattery from Trump‚ and you criticize their cowardice‚ the party's cowardice. Why was it important for you to call out party leadership by name in this moment? Cheney claimed Johnson was oh so destructive:  CHENEY:  And Mike played a particularly destructive role. He claimed to be a constitutional lawyer. He claimed to be somebody who was committed to the rule of law and then time and time again‚ really did ignore the rulings of the courts and made assertions to our colleagues that were not supported by the facts or by the law or by the Constitution. And the story of the role that he played‚ I felt‚ was a very important one to tell‚ even‚ you know‚ before he was in a role of prominence that he is now. And I think that history really has to be informed by specific individuals and by people understanding that it doesn't take very much‚ tragically and frankly‚ in a way that I find heartbreaking. It didn't take much for people to decide that they were going to ignore the most fundamental obligation‚ I believe‚ elected officials have. Fadel asked small‚ facilitating questions to let Cheney spool out her story of the rotting of the Republicans: "What was it that stripped away that unanimity [after January 6]?" And: "What's at stake here for the country?" Then came the obligatory question about if she's a Republican‚ which nobody should imagine at this point‚ not with how the liberal media are spoon-feeding her:  LEILA FADEL: The Republican Party is in your blood‚ right? I mean‚ the daughter of Dick Cheney‚ the former vice president. In the book‚ you describe a lot of towering figures in the Republican Party from the generation before you and your current generation. You still describe yourself as a conservative with these conservative values. But are you a Republican? LIZ CHENEY: I am certainly not a Trump Republican. I think that the Republican Party as it exists today is dangerous to the country. I think that we have to work to rebuild a conservative party. And I don't know whether that means that‚ you know‚ the Republican Party‚ which has gone so far down this path of a cult of personality‚ whether it can come back or whether we will need to build a new party‚ another - you know‚ a party that truly stands for conservative values. She also asked if she might run for president‚ and drew the usual deferral. NPR also made a video for YouTube:

Hilarious: Did John Kerry just unleash his own 'toxic wind' at the annual climate summit?

John Kerry‚ who Sara Gonzales calls “Joe Biden’s climate czar‚” just made a fool out of himself again‚ but this time‚ it wasn’t due to his senseless climate fearmongering. Over the weekend‚ over 70‚000 delegates‚ including heads of state‚ politicians‚ and campaigners‚ met in Dubai for the annual United Nations Climate Change conference. John Kerry was one of those in attendance. During his lecture on emissions‚ many speculate they heard Kerry fart. Sara plays the clip of the moment the incident occurred. “Avoiding responsibility for taking away those things that are killing people on a daily basis ...” Kerry said before a highly suspicious noise emanated from his direction. “He definitely farted‚” laughs Sara. “I mean‚ somebody farted‚” adds Stu Burguiere. “Do you remember the cow flatulence tax?” asks Jaco Booyens‚ referencing New Zealand’s proposition to tax farmers based on the emissions of their herds‚ which became known as the “fart tax.” “Tax [Kerry]‚” he jokes. “If he really cared about climate change‚ he would hold it in; that’s all I’m saying‚” says Sara. To see the cringe-worthy moment John Kerry emits his own toxic emissions‚ watch the clip below. Leftist professors flee state thanks to DeSantis' war on woke: 'Good riddance'

Liberal publications decrying the exodus of leftist academics from the Sunshine State have unwittingly underscored the extent to which Gov. Ron DeSantis has made good on his vow to ensure that "Florida is where woke goes to die." The New York Times picked up Monday where the Nation left off in September‚ bemoaning the apparent reconquest of the academy by Americans keen on institutions that educate rather than indoctrinate. "Many are giving up coveted tenured positions and blaming their departures on Governor DeSantis and his effort to reshape the higher education system to fit his conservative principles‚" wrote the Times' education reporter Stephanie Saul. Among its education-facing accomplishments‚ Florida under DeSantis has pushed back against identitarian propaganda; university DEI programs‚ revisionist histories; men in girl's sports; LGBT agitprop in grades K-3; and discrimination based on race‚ color‚ sex or national origin in public institutions. DeSantis also opened the year with the appointment of six individuals to New College of Florida's 13-member board of trustees. The board‚ which now includes Manhattan Institute fellow Christopher Rufo‚ has since replaced former college president Patricia Okker with DeSantis appointee Richard Corcoran‚ a former GOP House speaker and education commissioner; axed the school's gender studies program; and revealed tenure would henceforth be earned. Concerning the university's previous direction and the restoration underway‚ DeSantis said‚ "The mission has been I think more into the DEI‚ CRT‚ the gender ideology than what a liberal arts education should be‚" reported the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. The Times cited "liberal-leaning" economist and tax law scholar Neil Buchanan among the academics to recently leave Florida behind. Buchanan wrote in a recent blog post‚ "Florida Republicans' increasingly open hostility to professors and to higher education more generally was as close to a but-for cause of my decision as one could imagine." The economist admitted his departure as a small victory for conservatives in the state‚ writing‚ "It is fair to describe my situation as one in which 'the other guys won.'" In a follow-up blog post‚ Buchanan indicated that "some fights are simply not winnable‚ at least not in the moment‚" again decrying Republicans' success in the state. While acknowledging that the University of Florida has a turnover rate under the national average and is not experiencing "unusual" issues with hiring‚ the Times built an anecdotal case for why dozens of purported scholars have sought after bluer pastures. Walter Boot‚ a tenured psychology professor‚ told the paper he left Florida State for New York in part due to a 2022 state law limiting LGBT propaganda in elementary schools. Boot‚ who is non-straight‚ noted in an August piece for the Tallahassee Democrat that following the passage of the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act‚ "it became increasingly clear that LGBTQ students‚ faculty‚ and staff at Florida State University had targets on their backs." Hope Wilson‚ another LGBT activist who was up until recently a professor of education at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville‚ took issue with the state's interest in how taxpayer dollars were being spent‚ reported the Times. "It just felt very dystopian all the way around‚" said Wilson‚ who has a gender dysphoric child. Rufo stressed in a statement to the Times‚ "To me‚ this is a net gain for Florida." "Professors who want to practice D.E.I.-style racial discrimination‚ facilitate the sexual amputation of minors‚ and replace scholarship with partisan activism are free to do so elsewhere. Good riddance‚" wrote Rufo. DeSantis certainly shares Rufo's sentiment‚ having noted in a speech at an American Legislative Exchange Council meeting in July‚ "The media will say‚ 'Oh‚ some of these professors are leaving‚ like New College. Like‚ isn't that bad? Is that a brain drain?'" reported the Tampa Bay Times. "Well‚ you know‚ if you're a professor in like‚ you know‚ Marxist studies‚ that's not a loss for Florida if you're going on‚" said DeSantis. "Trust me‚ I'm totally good with that." In addition to driving radicals out of higher education in the state‚ the Nation indicated Republican legislation in the state is also prompting elementary school leftists to keep their extreme views to themselves. "Teachers don't know what to say‚ or what not to say‚ and so they're opting to not say anything‚ not only because of fear of getting fired but of potentially getting arrested and being charged‚" Nikki Fried‚ chair of the Florida Democratic Party told the Nation in September. Fried was apparently referencing HB 1467‚ legislation ratified in March 2022 by DeSantis that requires elementary schools to make public what books are on offer in their school libraries and enables parents to file objections to obscene materials.
