Senate Hopeful Aiming For Mitch McConnell’s Seat Announces Candidacy On Donald Trump Jr.’s Podcast
Another contender threw his hat into the ring to replace Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who said he would not seek re-election earlier this year.
Kentucky businessman Nate Morris, chairman and CEO of Morris Industries, joined Donald Trump Jr. on “Triggered with Don Jr.” to announce his candidacy.
“I think it’s time to take out the trash in Washington, D.C., and bring something new,” Morris said on the podcast.
“Somebody that’s not a career politician and most importantly, someone that’s only beholden to the people, not to McConnell cronies and the people that have been occupying this seat through McConnell over the last 40 years,” he continued.
Morris joins a growing GOP primary field that currently includes Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY) and former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

Barr criticized the businessman, alleging Morris did not support Trump in the 2024 primary and donated to Nikki Haley.

Morris, who has never served in public office but has been involved in Kentucky politics, runs a privately held conglomerate in Lexington. According to its website, the company “reimagines the industrial economy while leveraging the power of business to solve some of America’s biggest challenges, including the environment and national security.”
Morris has also worked with Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, with POLITICO calling Morris “a door-opener for Paul with big-money GOP donors.”
He touted his background as a ninth-generation Kentuckian, saying he and his family have been “fighting and scrapping for everything we have.”
“Like most Kentuckians, 19 of my family members worked at an auto plant, and I’ve been able to live the American dream because of how great this country is,” Morris said.
Morris has taken jabs at McConnell in the past, including in a recent social media post where he criticized the senator for voting against the confirmation of Pete Hegseth as U.S. secretary of defense.
Cameron also published a lengthy statement criticizing Morris, calling him a “globalist” pretending to be America First.

President Trump’s America First movement is making our country greater than ever before. The biggest threat here in Kentucky and to our movement is a globalist who dons a MAGA hat and pretends to be America First now that we are on the rise. His name is Nate Morris.
I think you need to understand what is at stake here. These are the facts:
– Nate Morris failed to support Donald J. Trump for President until May 2024. Nate backed Nikki Haley in the primary.
– Nate Morris hired the mastermind of Obama and Kamala’s campaigns, David Plouffe—the same guy who wrote a book about how President Trump needs to be “thoroughly destroyed.”
– Nate Morris drove his company into the ground. He lost over $500 million, never turned a profit, and tanked the stock price by 81%.
– After Nate Morris got a $41 million golden parachute from his company, he laid off 11% of the workforce—killing 55 Kentucky jobs—and sold the company to Mexican investors.
– When Republican Governors said you can go back to work during covid, Nate Morris was telling his employees to stay at home.
– Nate Morris defended the BLM riots and looting, justifying them as “a manifestation of the pain and anger that so many are feeling.”
– Under Nate Morris’ leadership, his company boasted about being at the forefront of the radical “ESG” movement, which unfairly targets Kentucky coal, our state’s competitive advantage.
– Nate Morris donated money to push anti-coal propaganda in our schools.

– Nate Morris proudly accepted World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders awards—previously given to fellow democrats Pete Buttigieg, Chelsea Clinton, and Alexander Soros. WEF promotes mass migration and open borders.

A Lexington businessman has been named to a prestigious group of socially conscious international leaders.
Nate Morris, CEO and co-founder of Rubicon Global, a provider of sustainable waste and recycling solutions, is among about 200 people from 70 countries named to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders class of 2014.
The forum, a nonprofit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, describes itself as “committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.”
Its Young Global Leaders program includes people from business, arts and culture, academia, media, politics and other sectors. Members, all of whom are younger than 40, are selected annually by a committee.
