Bannon Says China Is an Existential Threat, Everything Else a ‘Sideshow’

“We must decouple and hard decouple starting tomorrow morning.” That was former adviser to President Donald Trump Stephen K. Bannon, on the relationship between the United States and China in his remarks at the National Conservatism Conference in the District of Columbia on Thursday. Bannon, who is the current host of the “WarRoom” podcast stressed in his discussion about “making American First” that the greatest, external existential threat to America is in Beijing and that everything else is a sideshow. He said that the American ruling class, including many Republicans, essentially sold out the country and allowed China to rise as an adversary to the United States. Bannon pointed to Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., who said on Thursday that Trump’s tariffs and his policies toward Ukraine have made this the most dangerous era since the 1930s, just before World War II. “Nothing could be further from the truth,” Bannon said. “America First is what’s going to save this country.” He pointed to the recent joint meetup between Russian, Chinese, North Korean, and Iranian leaders, calling it a “flex,” demonstrating that they think they are winning a World War III that has already begun. On the Front page of Financial Times of London, Xi hails China's unstoppable power with a show of solidarity with Putin, Kim, and the Mullahs. It was a flex to send a message. We're already in WW3.America First is what's going to save this country.-Steve Bannon at NatCon 5… pic.twitter.com/NTUOpw3oaU— National Conservatism (@NatConTalk) September 4, 2025 “Mitch McConnell and the neoliberal neocons are what got us here,” he said. “Thirty years of rot.” Bannon said that in 1989 after the Tiananmen Square protests, Communist China was on its last legs but is now ascendent. He said that China’s rise in the last 30 years is clearly not because of Trump’s tariffs. Bannon said there are clear signs we are already in a kinetic third world war, given the mass casualties that have occurred in the war between Ukraine and Russia that outstrip the total casualties in the fall of France and the battles of North Africa in World War II. What’s “happening in the Middle East” is part of that larger, global war as well, he explained. These wars did not start on Trump’s watch, Bannon said. And right now, America’s allies in Europe lack strength and political will because they are rotting from the inside due to radical Islam. Therefore, Bannon recommended that Americans need to “wash their hands” of the conflict in Ukraine, which is a problem for the European Union, not the U.S. It’s a war that the U.S. simply can’t financially and militarily afford to keep engaged in, he said. Unfortunately, the U.S. made a “Faustian pact” with China that enriched our geopolitical adversary and tech oligarchs at the expense of the American people, Bannon said, noting that Trump has been the only political figure in American history to say, “We are not going to do it this way.” Bannon said that to truly contain China we need to isolate them. He recommended that the U.S. aggressively cut off Iran’s oil that provides 80% of China’s energy needs. This will put the mullahs off from capital and will hurt China, he said. Bannon also said that the U.S. needs to send hundreds of thousands of Chinese students “home,” because ultimately the CCP needs tech expertise to succeed. He said that a lot of focus is put on Israel, but what is happening there is a sideshow of what’s happening globally. The true enemies of Israel and the Jewish people, Bannon said, aren’t in Tehran, they are in London, Paris, New York, and Western cities where Jihadists threaten Jews. Bannon said that what really needs to happen is for the U.S. to hard pivot to Asia, where the real threats exist, and entirely decouple from China. “The Middle East is not the main event,” he said. “This is the main event.” The post Bannon Says China Is an Existential Threat, Everything Else a ‘Sideshow’ appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Fox News Crushes Competition in Summer Prime-Time Ratings

The Fox News Channel ended its summer run as the top network in all of prime-time television through Labor Day, topping even ABC, NBC, and CBS. Reaching more than 2.4 million weekday prime-time viewers since June 20, Fox News surpassed ABC with 2.38 million viewers, NBC with 2.2 million viewers, and CBS with 2 million viewers. In August, the network drew 2.3 million viewers in evening prime-time and 237,000 in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, becoming the most-watched television network for two consecutive months. On a daily average, Fox News reached 1.4 million viewers and 160,000 in the 25-54 age demographic, commanding 63% of the cable news share across total daily viewership and 65% in prime-time. Records show that CNN and MSNBC each lost half of their viewership in both prime-time and weekday programming, compared with August 2024. CNN reported its second-lowest-rated month ever in the total day for the 25-54 age demographic, sinking to just 53,000 viewers. MSNBC had its lowest-rated August in the 25-54 age demographic across both total day and prime-time, with 46,000 viewers in total day and 72,000 in prime-time, since 1997. Fox News said it has dominated the top 1,532 cable news telecasts since the 2024 election. In August, “The Five”—the Fox News Channel’s 5 p.m. Eastern Time weekday panel discussion program—maintained its spot as the No. 1 show, with 3.5 million viewers and 345,000 in the 25-54 age demographic. The prime-time lineup begins at 8 p.m. with “Jesse Waters Primetime,” leading with 3.1 million viewers and 302,000 in the 25-54 age demographic. Greg Gutfeld’s “Gutfeld!’ (10 p.m. ET) continued to command a considerable lead over all of late-night television in August, drawing 2.8 million viewers, 327,000 in the 25-54 age demographic. “Gutfeld!” again outdrew CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” with 2.2 million viewers, NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” with 1.1 million viewers, and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” with 989,000 viewers. Those programs air at 11:30 p.m. ET. At 9 p.m., “Hannity,” hosted by longtime FNC host Sean Hannity, reached 2.6 million viewers and 271,000 in the 25-54 age demographic. “Special Report with Bret Baier,” airing from 6 to 7 p.m. ET, topped the broadcast competition with over 2.6 million viewers and 249,000 in the 25-54 age demographic, ahead of CBS’ “Evening News,” ABC’s “World News Tonight” and NBC’s “Nightly News” in many markets. The morning show, “FOX & Friends” (6 to 9 a.m. ET weekdays) had a total average of 1.3 million viewers and 148,000 in the 25-54 age demographic, maintaining its No. 1 position as the first cable news program in the mornings, beating the combined viewers of CNN and MSNBC again. Fox News’ signature morning show surpassed ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today” in many of the top markets. Overall, the top five shows in August were: “The Five” (3,479,000 average viewers) “Jesse Watters Primetime” (3,062,000) “Gutfeld!” (2,848,000) “Hannity (2,612,000) “Special Report” (2,550,000) The post Fox News Crushes Competition in Summer Prime-Time Ratings appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Cat, Living Up to His Name, Tries to Get People to Notice Him After 9 Months in Animal Shelter

A cat, true to his name, has been doing everything he can to get noticed after spending nine months in the shelter. BiggieClifton Animal ShelterBiggie, a white-and-tabby cat, arrived at Clifton Animal Shelter when his owner fell ill and could no longer care for him. Barely a year old, Biggie came with a big heart and an even bigger appetite. The shelter environment was overwhelming at first. The noise, the unfamiliar smells, and the confinement of a cage made him nervous. But with patience and love, the staff and volunteers quickly learned the way to his heart: food.Little by little, Biggie found his courage. As he ventured out of his cage, his eyes brightened, and his true personality began to shine through. Clifton Animal ShelterDespite his size, Biggie is still very much a kitten at heart. He loves chasing wand toys, leaping over furniture, and pouncing with all the enthusiasm of a playful kitten. After a round of zoomies, he transforms into quite the love bug. Whenever Liz, one of the shelter staff, comes by, he eagerly waits to be scooped up in her arms. Clifton Animal Shelter"This is the real Biggie," Liz explained. "Sometimes he doesn't show well because he gets spooked, but he's incredibly food motivated, and will be your friend with food. I open the cage every day, and he jumps out into my arms. That's all he wants."Once he's out and about, Biggie soaks up every bit of attention and enjoys the freedom to roam. Clifton Animal ShelterBiggie may be "big" in name, but his personality is even larger. He's playful, mischievous, and endlessly entertaining. One moment, he's racing around like a little tiger; the next, he's flopped on the floor demanding belly rubs. He's a cat who looks you straight in the eye, especially if you're holding a treat bag or opening a can of food. Clifton Animal Shelter"When Biggie first arrived at the shelter, the world felt a little overwhelming. He was scared and unsure, but with time, patience, and love, he started to realize that people aren't so scary after all.""Watching him gain confidence has been so rewarding, and we know he's going to thrive even more in a loving home." Clifton Animal ShelterOnce he trusts you, his sweet and endearing side comes to light."With his expressive face and curious eyes, he's the kind of cat who makes you smile without even trying. If you have treats or chicken? You've got a fast track to his heart. He loves them and will do just about anything for a bite." Clifton Animal ShelterBiggie has found creative ways to keep busy at the shelter. He's taken on "clerical duties," diligently supervising paperwork, reviewing files, and patrolling snack supplies."He's got it covered," the staff joked. "He's been patiently waiting for someone to notice that he's not just a cute face. He's also a hardworking office assistant (who occasionally naps on the job)." Clifton Animal ShelterThough Biggie may look like a tough guy on the outside, he's really all softness inside."He's full of life but also has a calm side. It's clear that Biggie will thrive in a home where he can be part of the action and get plenty of love." Clifton Animal ShelterBiggie has been waiting for someone to notice him since December. Day after day, he shows just how much love he has to give—all he needs is someone willing to give him a chance. Clifton Animal ShelterShare this story with your friends. Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz stays open in huge win for Trump’s immigration agenda

Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz, a detention center established to expand bed capacity for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has been engaged in a persistent legal battle but achieved a significant victory on Thursday afternoon.‘It is entirely unclear to us, moreover, how the district court concluded that it could order the proactive dismantling of the Facility by way of a mandatory preliminary injunction.’Kathleen M. Williams, a federal judge in Miami, ruled last month that no additional detainees could be housed at Alligator Alcatraz and required it to be dismantled within 60 days.In a 2-1 vote on Thursday, a panel of judges with the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Atlanta blocked Williams’ ruling to shut down the facility. The ruling allows the detention center to remain open. Environmental groups have argued that the facility, which opened in July and is located in the Florida Everglades, should have been subject to federal environmental reviews. However, Alligator Alcatraz is a state-operated facility, and Florida has not received federal reimbursements for its operation.RELATED: Florida makes one thing absolutely clear after Obama judge orders teardown of Alligator Alcatraz Photo by ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS/AFP via Getty Images“It is entirely unclear to us, moreover, how the district court concluded that it could order the proactive dismantling of the Facility by way of a mandatory preliminary injunction,” Judge Barbara Lagoa wrote for the majority. “It is wholly unreasonable to conclude from the naked assurances of politicians and lawyers that the Facility is federally funded when not only is the record devoid of credible evidence that a legally binding payment decision has been made, but the record undisputedly contradicts that finding.”RELATED: Trump admin expands ICE detention space into notorious state prison Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty ImagesFlorida Attorney General James Uthmeier called the latest ruling “a win for Florida and President Trump’s agenda!”“The 11th Circuit not only blocked Judge Williams’ order to close Alligator Alcatraz, but they blocked her from proceeding with the case until the appeal is complete,” he wrote in a post on social media.Governor Ron DeSantis (R) declared that the “mission continues at Alligator Alcatraz” and celebrated the overturned ruling of “leftist judge” Williams.Like Blaze News?
