A House Democrat is facing blowback from Republicans after saying this week there should be a “speedy path to citizenship” for all the millions of illegal immigrants in the United States. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) called for mass amnesty during a press conference to introduce a bill that seeks the public disclosure of data from facilities operated by or are affiliated with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “We are an immigrant-filled community,” Frost said. “We are a community filled with people. And yes, people are going to have different statuses, and to my Republican colleagues who say, ‘I don’t want any undocumented people in this country,’ I actually agree with you. White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Adviser Stephen Miller warned: “If the Democrats were to obtain full political control of Washington they would swiftly complete the project of relocating the destitute and developing nations of the world in your communities and then giving them the full rights and privileges of US citizenship.” Chuck Ross, an investigative reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, made an observation that underscored Frost’s growing influence in the Democratic Party. “Notably, Maxwell Frost is vice-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, which is tasked with ‘developing and supporting a strong Caucus-wide message that forcefully communicates where House Democrats stand,'” Ross said on X. “And that messages [sic] is supposed to ‘sharply contrasts that with the extreme policies of House Republicans.'”

U.S. Border Patrol agents found and shut down a massive tunnel linking Tijuana, Mexico, to San Diego, California, built to unlawfully smuggle narcotics into the United States. The tunnel spanned nearly 3,000 feet, extending more than 1,000 feet into the United States, with a projected exit point near a warehouse in San Diego, California. It featured a sophisticated ventilation system, electrical wiring, lighting, and a rail track for transporting drugs. In February, the Trump administration designated six Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. “As we continue to strengthen the nation’s air, and maritime border security, it’s not surprising that foreign terrorist organizations would resort to underground routes,” said Jeffrey D. Stalnaker, the Acting Chief Patrol Agent of the San Diego Sector. “Disruption of narcotics smuggling tunnels is critical to protecting American lives.” Federal authorities first discovered the tunnel while it was under construction in April, sending the San Diego Border Patrol Sector Tunnel Team in to investigate the project. Those agents, Border Patrol says, encountered various barricades that “were placed haphazardly by the tunnel workers” in an effort to prevent law enforcement from investigating the passageway into America. Mexican authorities also investigated the tunnel and discovered the origin point in a residence in Tijuana. “I’m grateful for the exceptional work of the Tunnel Team agents who placed themselves in danger, as well as the cooperation of our Mexican law enforcement partners,” Stalnaker said. The tunnel will now be filled with thousands of gallons of concrete to prevent it from being used by drug smugglers. Mexican cartels have carved tunnels into the United States for decades. Nearly 100 tunnels have been discovered and obstructed since 1993 in the San Diego area alone. The detection of the tunnel comes as the Trump administration has drastically reduced the number of illegal border crossings and placed financial pressure on the cartels. The Treasury Department unveiled sanctions against five leaders of the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion on Wednesday. The move came after the federal agency announced sanctions on leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel del Noreste.

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti warned leftist activists not to defy the Volunteer State’s protection of kids from transgender procedures after securing a major victory at the Supreme Court on Wednesday.  Skrmetti made the comments in an interview with Morning Wire just hours after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of a Tennessee law that protects children from irreversible transgender medical procedures. In December, Skrmetti and his team defended the law before the court after the ACLU and the Biden administration sued to overturn it.  “It is a really important ruling,” Skrmetti told The Daily Wire. “It affects an increasingly large number of kids. And the evidence that keeps coming in shows more and more that there is a huge risk to kids from these procedures with very little, if any, benefit. So it’s really important that our legislatures be allowed to follow the evidence and do what they need to do to make sure kids are protected.” Skrmetti added that any state with “shield laws” to protect people sending in transgender drugs into Tennessee would end up in court.  “The full faith and credit clause says that Tennessee’s laws are binding in Tennessee. Other states can’t get cute and try to find ways around that. We’ve seen a lot of states try to do this. I think it’s a bad idea. They shouldn’t do it and if they keep it up, they’re going to end up in court and they’re going to lose,” he said.  Opponents of Tennessee’s law claim that it violates the 14th Amendment because it would allow boys to be prescribed testosterone to address developmental issues but not allow girls to be given testosterone for a so-called transition.  Skrmetti said that this line of thinking was a “fatal flaw” in the arguments made by the law’s opponents.  “With any medical treatment, you’re not just handing someone a drug, you’re giving them a treatment to treat a specific condition. And different drugs have different effects on different conditions,” he said. “And we differentiate between those purposes all the time. So I thought that was a fatal flaw in the argument on the other side.” Dozens of states followed Tennessee’s lead after Governor Bill Lee signed its ban into law in March 2023. That came after Daily Wire host Matt Walsh published an investigation into the Pediatric Transgender Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, showing it had removed the breasts of girls who identified as boys and prescribed cross-sex hormones to gender-confused children. Two drag queens performed a flamboyant lip-sync routine on the Oregon House floor on Wednesday as part of a Democratic resolution celebrating “black drag performers,” prompting Republican backlash over using the legislative chamber for “political theater.” The resolution recognizing “the artistry of black drag performers” in Oregon was introduced by Rep. Travis E. Nelson, a Democrat and the state’s “first black LGBTQIA+ House member,” The New York Post reported. “Your presence, artistry, and courage are a powerful reminder of the joy, resilience and cultural impact of drag in Oregon and beyond,” Nelson told the drag queens. “Thank you for sharing your light with us this morning.” The resolution passed in the state House with a vote of 34-9, with two Republicans voting in favor. Two drag queens danced wildly around the chamber for nearly five minutes in honor of the resolution, wearing eccentric outfits including a yellow jumpsuit and a rainbow-colored one-piece with a blue wig. “I’m not sure the Founding Fathers envisioned taxpayer-funded legislative chambers being turned into platforms for political theater,” GOP state Rep. Dwayne Yunker posted on X, along with footage of the performance. “The House floor is meant for serious debate, lawmaking, and serving all Oregonians, not partisan spectacles designed to push cultural agendas,” he added. GOP Rep. Cyrus Javadi was at the front of the chamber, clapping along to the performance with his teenage daughter. Javaldi was one of the two Republicans who voted in favor of the resolution. Social media erupted with criticism following the display, with many commenters calling it inappropriate for government proceedings. “I am completely embarrassed of the state I live in. Our tax dollars are being spent on this crap,” one account posted on X. “The Oregon House of Representatives….let that sink in,” another social media user wrote. “Parents are doing all they can to clean their schools and elected representatives are doing this in the house (sic) of the people. No words.” “I am thankful every day that Trump won the 2024 election,” another posted in response.
