Anthony’s Leatherworks Leather Care Kit

I love leather – jackets, gloves, boots, belts, you name it. I love the feel, the heft of the thick hide, the undeniable style, the unparalleled crash protection, and the rich, earthy smell. What I hate, or at least neglect to do regularly, is taking care of leather. I’m a ride-it-hard-and-hang-it-up-wet kind of guy, which is another way of saying I’m lazy. Sure, for a while you can get away with just wearing leather, allowing it to break in and conform to your body and doing nothing else. But eventually the leather’s natural oils and the chemicals used to tan and treat the hide will dry out. The leather will go from supple to stiff, and if left for too long, it will crack and tear. My Joe Rocket Classic ’92 jacket before using the leather care kit. One of my favorite leather jackets is the Classic ’92 by Joe Rocket. It’s made of thick cowhide that’s dyed black, and it has timeless speedster style with exposed zippers, ribbed padding on the shoulders, and a pair of small white stripes on each upper arm. I’ve had my Classic ’92 jacket for years, and I’ve used it and abused it. Back in 2019, I wore it on the press launch for the Indian FTR1200 down in Baja, Mexico, and it got dirty and dusty during a 40-mile ride on a sandy road along the coast. When I got home, I hung it up and went on with life. During a podcast with Greg Sermabeikian, owner of Anthony’s Leatherworks, I told him about my bad habits with leather. He said leather care doesn’t have to be labor intensive as long as you have the right tools for the job. Sermabeikian sent me his company’s proprietary Leather Care Kit, which includes three treatments: spray-on De-Salter, which softens and refreshes dry (and sometimes funky) leather; brush-on Easy Cleaner, which creates a sudsy foam that removes dirt; and spray-on Total Leather Cleaner & Conditioner, which keeps leather soft, pliable, and healthy-looking. After using the leather care kit. First, I sprayed De-Salter all over the Classic ’92’s outer leather and let it dry for 2-3 hours. Next, I poured some Easy Cleaner in a bowl and used a small scrub brush to work it into the leather, then I hung up the jacket to dry for 24 hours. Lastly, I sprayed on a liberal amount of Total Leather Cleaner & Conditioner and used a soft rag to work it into the leather. Total hands-on time was about 20 minutes, and very little elbow grease was involved. Now my jacket looks great – better than new because the leather is broken in and more supple than ever. The Leather Care Kit is available directly from Anthony’s Leatherworks for $51.95. You can also buy the three leather treatments individually: De-Salter ($17.95), Easy Cleaner ($17.95), and Total Leather Cleaner & Conditioner ($21.95). Anthony’s Leatherworks also sells a Suede Care Kit ($45.95), which includes Easy Cleaner, Water & Stain Repellant, a 4-in-1 Suede Brush, and a Suede Eraser to remove stains. 2026 Mecum Auction Preview: British Invasion

1964 Triumph Bonneville TT Special (lot N313) As of this writing, there are over 580 motorcycles up for auction at Mecum’s annual motorcycle auction, which returns to the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Jan. 28-31, 2026. More motorcycles are being added daily, and we’ve highlighted some standout American, Japanese, and racing motorcycles. This post focuses on British motorcycles. Mecum’s motorcycle auction is a must-attend event for any gearhead, but if you can’t be there in person you can bid online or by phone – just fill out the registration form at Mecum.com. Richard Wolcott McNally Collection This 1967 Velocette Venom Special (lot W178) is part of the Richard Wolcott McNally Collection. If you’re in the market for a classic British bike, a great place to start is the Richard Wolcott McNally Collection. This extensive collection includes more than 150 motorcycles, mostly British-made classics from the 1940s-1970s. AJS, BSA, Norton, Triumph, Matchless, Ariel, Sunbeam, Greeves, Royal Enfield, and Velocette – they’re all well-represented, plus a few Italian, German, and Spanish bikes thrown into the mix. 1947 AJS 16M (lot W152) AJS, which stood for A. J. Stevens & Co. Ltd, manufactured automobiles and motorcycles in England from 1909 to 1931. The company was sold, and the AJS name was used by various manufacturers over the years. Up for auction from the McNally Collection are a 1947 AJS 16M (above, lot W152), a 1950 AJS 16MS (lot W153), a 1955 AJS 16M (lot W157), and a 1958 AJS 18CS (lot R262). 1966 BSA Spitfire MKII A65 (lot N55) BSA (British Small Arms) was a popular brand back in the day. The McNally Collection includes 16 BSAs in stunning condition, including a 1957 BSA Gold Star Road Racer (lot N288), a 1960 BSA A10 Super Rocket (lot N54), a 1965 BSA A50 Royal Star (lot W196), a 1966 BSA Spitfire MKII A65 (above, lot N55), and a 1968 BSA Firebird Scrambler (lot N60). 1968 Norton 750 Commando Fastback (lot R268) Norton is a legendary British marque, and the McNally Collection includes 10 collectible examples. A few standouts include a 1958 Norton Dominator Model 99 (lot N77), a 1964 Norton Atlas (lot W313), a 1968 Norton 750 Commando Fastback (above, lot R268), and a 1974 Norton Commando (lot N81). There are many more British bikes to drool over and bid on in the Richard Wolcott McNally Collection, so navigate to that page and start scrolling. Triumphs at the 2026 Mecum Auction 1959 Triumph T120 Bonneville (lot R272) Triumph is a storied British brand that’s one of the few still in existence – and today it’s stronger than ever. As many British bikes as there are in the McNally Collection, there are only three Triumphs – a particularly nice one is the 1959 Triumph T120 Bonneville (lot R272) shown above. The easiest way to narrow your search to a particular brand on Mecum.com is to enter the name as a search term. Typing “Triumph” in the search field brings up 27 examples (so far; more bikes are added every week until the auction in late January). 1969 Triumph T120R Bonneville (lot R650) We love the classic Bonnevilles, and there are quite a few up for auction, including a 1964 Triumph Bonneville TT Special (lead photo, lot N313) and a 1969 Triumph T120R Bonneville (above, lot R650). There are also classic Daytonas and Tigers, as well as a 1954 Triumph Thunderbird (lot R271). 1973 Triumph X75 Hurricane (lot N410) A few unique Triumphs that will cross the block include a 1968 Rickman Metisse Triumph (lot N82), a 1971 Triumph T100 Daytona Custom (lot N135), and a 1973 Triumph X75 Hurricane (above, lot N410) with Craig Vetter-designed bodywork and a gorgeous 3-into-3 exhaust. 1995 Triumph T309 Speed Triple (lot W103) There are also some modern Triumphs up for auction, including a 1995 Triumph T309 Speed Triple (above, lot W103) and a 1995 Triumph Daytona Super III (lot W101). David Silver Collection This 1904 BSA Minerva (lot R465) is part of the David Silver Collection. Another fascinating collection that’s up for auction in January is the David Silver Collection. According to Mecum, “This wildly eclectic roundup includes motorbikes, purpose-built race bikes, sport bikes and more from manufacturers all over the world and spans from the very beginning of bicycle production to the modern motoring age.” 1930 Matchless Silver Arrow Deluxe (lot R466) There are some fascinating British antiques in the Silver Collection, including a 1904 BSA Minerva (above, lot R465), a 1910 Ariel 3.5 HP Tourist Trophy (lot R467), a 1912 Royal Enfield Model 160 V-Twin (lot N271), a 1930 Matchless Silver Arrow Deluxe (above, lot R466), a 1933 Rudge Ulster (lot R774), and a 1938 BSA B20 (lot W208), among others. This preview is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more British motorcycles – as well as those from many other countries – up for auction in January. Go to Mecum.com to check out all the auction listings and register to bid. If you can, plan to attend the auction in person. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
