Letitia James wants NY hospitals to continue gender 'mutilation' of minors, despite Trump order

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) has warned hospitals in her state that they must continue providing so-called "gender affirming care" to minors, despite an executive order from President Donald Trump, or risk possible repercussions for engaging in "discrimination."On January 28, Trump issued an executive order prohibiting federal funding for medical facilities that supposedly help a child 18 years old or younger "'transition' ... from one sex to another." The order described such procedures as "chemical and surgical mutilation" and noted they often result in permanent reproductive damage."Countless children soon regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding. Moreover, these vulnerable youths’ medical bills may rise throughout their lifetimes, as they are often trapped with lifelong medical complications, a losing war with their own bodies, and, tragically, sterilization," the executive order explained.'[The EO is] already having its intended effect — preventing children from being maimed and sterilized by adults.'Despite Trump's order, James apparently wants to continue propagating what the order called the "radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex." In a letter issued Monday, James claimed that New York medical clinics that offer so-called "gender affirming care to minors" must continue doing so, with or without federal funding, to remain in compliance with state discrimination laws."Regardless of the availability of federal funding, we write to further remind you of your obligations to comply with New York State laws, including those that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their membership in a protected class, such as sex [and] gender identity or expression," James wrote."Electing to refuse services to a class of individuals based on their protected status, such as withholding the availability of services from transgender individuals based on their gender identity or their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, while offering such services to cisgender individuals, is discrimination under New York law," the letter continued. In closing the letter, James invited anyone who has "witness[ed]" a potential violation of her order to contact her office. In apparent response to James' letter, a spokesperson for the Greater New York Hospital Association indicated only that members were attempting to better understand the long-term "implications" of Trump's EO. "We are collaboratively working through every aspect of the EO to determine its legal and clinical implications. That work is ongoing," Brian Conway said, according to the AP.So far, it seems Trump is winning this legal tug-of-war. On Monday, the White House mentioned NYU Langone Health in New York City as one of several hospitals across the country — including in Colorado, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. — that have already begun to curtail or end gender-related treatment of minors in the wake of Trump's EO.NYU Langone has reportedly "abruptly" canceled at least two appointments for 12-year-old children seeking puberty blockers. The hospital did not respond to a request for comment from the New York Post."[The EO is] already having its intended effect — preventing children from being maimed and sterilized by adults perpetuating a radical, false claim that they can somehow change a child’s sex," the White House said in a statement Monday.Like Blaze News? RFK Jr. clears key confirmation hurdle in the Senate

Following a pair of heated hearings last week, the Senate Finance Committee voted on Tuesday to advance Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination to head the Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy's confirmation will now move to the Senate floor. Kennedy managed to secure support from all 14 Republicans on the committee, including Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who expressed hesitancy about the nominee following the hearing. All 13 committee Democrats voted against Kennedy. '20 years ago, Autism in children was 1 in 10,000. NOW IT’S 1 in 34.'"I’ve had very intense conversations with Bobby and the White House over the weekend and even this morning," Cassidy said Tuesday. "I want to thank VP JD specifically for his honest counsel.""With the serious commitments I’ve received from the administration and the opportunity to make progress on the issues we agree on like healthy foods and a pro-American agenda, I will vote yes," Cassidy added. Ahead of the vote, Trump reiterated support for Kennedy and his health advocacy."20 years ago, Autism in children was 1 in 10,000," Trump said in a Tuesday post on Truth Social. "NOW IT’S 1 in 34. WOW! Something’s really wrong. We need BOBBY!!! Thank You! DJT." Kennedy came under fire during his confirmation hearings last week, primarily over his views on vaccines. Kennedy reiterated that he is in favor of vaccines while also insisting that the science behind vaccines needs to be more thorough and transparent. Kennedy also called out hypocritical senators who harped on his health care views while also accepting money from Big Pharma. Like Blaze News? Grubhub user data compromised in major security breach

Popular food delivery company Grubhub announced it suffered a security breach involving a "third-party actor," which gave "unauthorized access to certain user contact information." The company announced this issue in a press release after it partnered with leading forensic experts and believes the incident has been fully contained. Grubhub explains that it detected "unusual activity within our environment traced to a third-party service provider for our Support Team. Upon discovery, we promptly launched an investigation, identifying unauthorized access to an account associated with this provider. We immediately terminated the account’s access and removed the service provider from our systems altogether." According to Grubhub, this security breach gave access to the following data: Names, email addresses, and phone numbers Partial payment card information for a subset of campus diners (card type and last four digits of the card number) The hacker also accessed hashed passwords for certain legacy systems. While they haven't accessed any codes associated with Grubhub Marketplace accounts, the company encourages users to use unique passwords to minimize risk. This means that if they use the same password for different accounts, they should definitely change their codes. Still, Grubhub says that the majority of user's data hasn't been accessed, which includes: Grubhub Marketplace customer passwords Merchant login information Full payment card numbers Bank account details Social Security or driver’s license numbers Finally, the company states to avoid further security breaches, it's implementing new measures: Engaged Forensic Experts: Partnered with a third-party cybersecurity firm for a comprehensive investigation. Strengthened Credential Security: Rotated all relevant passwords to prevent potential unauthorized access. Enhanced Monitoring: Deployed additional anomaly detection mechanisms across internal services. BGR will let you know as we learn more about Grubhub's security breach and whether it could have a broader impact on its users. Apple Invites now available as part of iCloud+ subscription

After a few weeks of rumors and leaks, Apple has finally revealed its new Invites feature, which is part of the iCloud+ subscription. According to the company, Apple Invites helps users plan events. It looks similar to the Fantastical app feature, which lets you plan meetings with several people and let them choose the best date and hour for most. With this release, the iCloud+ subscription has even more to offer. Despite more storage, iCloud Private Relay, Hide my Email, and HomeKit Secure Video, users can now take advantage of Apple Invites. This feature is available for every iCloud+ user, which goes from the 50GB tier to 12TB (as part of a standalone subscription). Apple One subscribers can also enjoy this feature. Here's how the company describes Apple Invites: "Create online party invitations - for birthdays, graduations, baby showers & more. Track RSVPs, create shared albums, and send instantly by email or text." It's unclear why Apple decided to release this feature now, but it's nice to see it continue to add value to its subscriptions. 9to5Mac first rumored this function almost a month ago when Filipe Espósito found references to it on iOS 18.2 and iOS 18.3 beta codes. "Code suggests that the Invites app will integrate with iCloud and will even have a web version on iCloud.com. The new app also integrates with a new iOS 18 daemon called GroupKit, which manages database models for groups of people. This daemon has been present since the first release of iOS 18.0 and hasn’t been used by any Apple apps so far." That said, with this new GroupKit API, it's possible that Apple will soon release it to developers so they can implement this feature in their own apps. Apple Invites is available as part of the iCloud+ subscription, and iPhone, iPad, and Mac users can take advantage of it by using the latest versions of their operating systems.
