Nearly 2 Million Vehicles Recalled By Tesla, Here’s Why

Tesla has recalled 1.85 million vehicles because of a software issue potentially failing to detect an unlatched hood. The issue could increase the likelihood of the hood fully opening and obstructing the driver’s view. The electric vehicle manufacturer recalled the impacted vehicles out of an abundance of caution. Tesla recalling more than 1.8M vehicles due to hood issue https://t.co/jhZDU9RFHa — The Associated Press (@AP) July 30, 2024 Per Fox Business: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that an unlatched hood opening fully could cause the driver to crash because of their view being impeded. Tesla began rolling out an over-the-air software update to fix the issue in mid-June, NHTSA said. The updated software properly detects an open hood and alerts drivers accordingly. The Elon Musk-led automaker began investigating customer complaints of unintended hood opening events in Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in China in late March. From mid-April to June 7, Tesla analyzed samples in the field to understand the issue and latch commonalities across its various vehicle lines and regions. It found that hood latch problems were more common in China when compared to incidents in the European and North American markets. The EV maker began engineering studies on June 7 in Europe and North America to inspect hood latch assemblies for deformations in switches and on July 17 decided to voluntarily recall affected vehicles out of an abundance of caution. ICYMI! Tesla has issued a ‘safety recall’ on 1.8 million electric vehicles, but the good news is that it is just a software fix – although an important one as it will prevent the hood from flying open while driving It's going out as update 2024.20.100. More details… pic.twitter.com/xpmNViGqYs — Electrek.co (@ElectrekCo) July 31, 2024 Tesla rolled out an OTA software update to 1.85 million vehicles to comply with the NHTSA “recall” in the US. The issue concerns the non-detection of the hood being open while driving. https://t.co/NjDqw7MZXx pic.twitter.com/MQRhCzNZyA — Tesla Newswire (@TeslaNewswire) July 30, 2024 From The Hill: The NHTSA said the recall applies to certain 2021-24 Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-24 Model Y vehicles. A software update is available free of charge to vehicle owners, the NHTSA said, and owners do not need to return their vehicles for a physical repair. Tesla will mail notification letters to owners on Sept. 22, NHTSA said. Tesla began investigating customer complaints of “unintended hood opening events” on certain vehicles in China on March 25, according to the NHTSA. On July 17, Tesla decided to issue the recall “out of an abundance of caution.” Tesla’s recall number is SB-24-00-012. The NHTSA campaign number is 24V554000.

JOE BIDEN’S ‘pussified’ administration tries to distance itself from Hamas leader assassination by Israel

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, looking to be on the verge of tears, doesn’t even mention it, except to say he wasn’t aware of any murder plot, and is only concerned with getting Israel to agree to a ceasefire ASAP.

Netanyahu Takes Credit For Assassination Of Terrorist Commander: ‘Challenging Days Ahead’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took credit for the assassination of a top Hezbollah advisor during a press conference on Wednesday. Netanyahu said Israel faces “challenging days ahead” but will “charge a very heavy price for any aggression from any arena.” On Tuesday, an Israeli air strike successfully targeted Fuad Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsin. Israel launched the strike after 12 Druze children were killed by a Hezbollah missile in the northern Israel town of Majdal Shams. Around 40 additional people were wounded. Netanyahu did not directly take credit for the Wednesday assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, but did state that Israel delivered “crushing blows” on three Iranian proxies: Houthis, Hamas, and Hezbollah. Netanyahu’s office reportedly declined to comment on their role in Haniyeh’s demise. Israel often does not comment on targeted killings. He did comment on the recent strike of Yemen’s Hodeida port after the Houthis sent a suicide drone to Tel Aviv. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, vowed to have revenge and inflict “severe punishment” for the Hamas leader being killed in Iran. Netanyahu said “threats are being sounded from everywhere” following the assassination of Shukr but said the Jewish state is “ready for every scenario” and “will stay united and determined against every threat.” “We settled our score with [Hajj] Mohsin,” Netanyahu said “and we will settle our score with anyone who harms us. Everyone who takes aim at our children, everyone who murders our citizens, everyone who harms our country—their blood is on their own head.” He also pointed out that Shukr played a central role in the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. military personnel. The U.S. government has offered a  $5,000,000 reward for anyone who provides information on him. Netanyahu added that he will not give into domestic and foreign pressure to end the war because “all of the achievements in recent months were attained because we did not give in.”  “Together we will fight, and with God’s help, together we will win,” he concluded. The Biden-Harris administration has reportedly sought to restrain Israel’s response to prevent further escalating the ongoing conflict between the Jewish state and Hezbollah. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States government does not want to see the conflict “escalate” or spread.” Hezbollah has attacked Israel with missiles or drones nearly every day since October 7. Israel has responded by striking Hezbollah military infrastructure, commanders, and launch sites. About 80,000 Israelis have been evacuated from their homes in northern Israel since the hostilities began

Garland Responds To Dismissal Of Trump Documents Case

Attorney General Merrick Garland rebuffed a federal judge’s decision this month to dismiss the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump led by special counsel Jack Smith. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon of Florida agreed with defense attorneys who argued Smith’s appointment as special counsel by Garland in late 2022 was unconstitutional because it did not involve congressional approval. “For more than 20 years I was a federal judge. Do I look like someone who would make that basic mistake about the law? I don’t think so,” Garland said during an interview with NBC News that aired on Tuesday. In an exclusive interview with @kendilanianNBC, Attorney General Merrick Garland took issue with Judge Aileen Cannon’s dismissal of the classified documents case against Former President Trump. pic.twitter.com/SckDMfFwzR — NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt (@NBCNightlyNews) July 30, 2024 Smith has already moved to appeal the ruling. The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, located in Atlanta, has set an August 27 deadline for the special counsel to file an opening briefing. “Our position is that it’s constitutional and valid. That’s why we appealed,” Garland said. “I will say that this is the same process of appointing special counsel as was followed in the previous administration.” He mentioned special counsels John Durham and Robert Mueller as examples and emphasized the trend stretches back further “over the decades going back to Watergate and the special prosecutor in that case” in the 1970s. “Til now every single court, including the Supreme Court, that has considered the legality of a special counsel appointment has upheld it,” Garland said. Cannon, who was nominated to her position by Trump, said that she was dismissing the case because Smith’s appointment violated the Appointments Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Cannon wrote that the clause “is a critical constitutional restriction stemming from the separation of powers, and it gives Congress a considered role in determining the propriety of vesting appointment power for inferior officers.” She added, “The Special Counsel’s position effectively usurps that important legislative authority, transferring it to a Head of Department, and in the process threatening the structural liberty inherent in the separation of powers.” Trump, who is running another campaign for the presidency while facing multiple criminal matters, had pleaded not guilty to dozens of charges related to willful retention of classified documents and obstruction. The former president responded to Cannon’s ruling by saying on Truth Social, “This dismissal of the Lawless Indictment in Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts.” Trump has contended with three other prosecutions while on the 2024 campaign trail, including a 2020 election case led by Smith in Washington, D.C. He is seeking to overturn the conviction in a New York hush-money case.
