Although Juan Merchan, acting justice on the New York State Supreme Court, set Trump's sentencing, he indicated he would hand the president-elect an "unconditional discharge" on January 10, which means releasing a defendant without any punishment. The announcement marks one more legal victory for Trump, who since winning the 2024 election has seen the criminal cases against him grow weaker or be dismissed altogether, thanks to a landmark Supreme Court ruling that said former presidents have some immunity for actions relating to the core powers of the Oval Office. Now, keep in mind that it's highly, highly unlikely President Trump actually goes to jail for this. In fact, Judge Merchan's written decision implied that he will be granting President Trump a "conditional discharge," which means no jail time or penalties. Multiple people were shot in Washington, D.C. just around 8:00 PM on Friday evening. Emergency crews quickly arrived on the scene, and four people have been hospitalized. The identity of the shooter has not been revealed, nor has the motive. However, some reports are saying it was related to domestic violence. This news follows a string of violent attacks nationwide since the start of the New Year. At 8:18 pm Fifth District officers arrived at the scene and located an adult male and an adult female conscious and breathing and were transported to a hospital. Later two additional adult males arrived at an area hospital, and both were conscious and breathing. Detectives are on the scene and investigating. Hindustan Times added: According to reports, two men with gunshot wounds were transported to a nearby hospital while two others reportedly arrived at a hospital on their own.
