Trump’s comments come on the third anniversary of the deadly ISIS bombing attack on August 26, 2021, at the Abbey Gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. The attack killed 13 American soldiers and 170 Afghan civilians.  “This is the third anniversary of the BOTCHED Afghanistan withdrawal, the most EMBARRASSING moment in the history of our Country. The Harris campaign is pushing for a major rule change to the September 10 ABC debate against Donald Trump, requesting that both candidates’ microphones stay on for the entirety of the night. When Trump agreed to two debates against President Joe Biden, both campaigns approved of rules that would mute the microphone of the candidate who was not speaking. Political commentators generally agreed that the muted mics helped Trump during the June 27 CNN debate against Biden, and now, the Harris campaign wants both the vice presidential candidates’ and Trump’s microphones to stay hot during the upcoming debate on ABC. “We have told ABC and other networks seeking to host a possible October debate that we believe both candidates’ mics should be live throughout the full broadcast,” Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser for Harris campaign, told POLITICO. “Our understanding is that Trump’s handlers prefer the muted microphone because they don’t think their candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes on his own. We suspect Trump’s team has not even told their boss about this dispute because it would be too embarrassing to admit they don’t think he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the benefit of a mute button.” POLITICO reported that Harris’ team wants to keep Trump’s mic on when the Democratic nominee is speaking because they believe he could interrupt her and say something that will potentially hurt him in the eyes of voters. The Harris camp, after having already agreed to the CNN rules, asked for a seated debate, with notes, and opening statements. This seems to be a pattern for the Harris campaign. They won’t allow Harris to do interviews, they won’t allow her to do press conferences, and now they want to give her a cheat-sheet for the debate. My guess is that they’re looking for a way to get out of any debate with President Trump.” Harris mocked Trump last month for not immediately agreeing to debate her on September 10 after Biden dropped out and she became the Democrats’ de facto nominee. Trump then announced that he would debate Harris on ABC on September 10, pushing her to agree to two other debates — one on Fox News on September 4 and another on NBC on September 25.
