JPMorgan To Roll Out Controversial Biometric Payments

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties‚ subscribe to Reclaim The Net. America’s largest bank and one of the largest in the world‚ J.P. Morgan‚ is preparing to launch biometric payments next year and is currently carrying out pilot projects. J.P. Morgan has chosen PopID – which verifies a person’s identity via facial recognition‚ among other methods – as the backbone for the project. The massive financial corporation is clearly unwilling to be left behind the likes of Mastercard or Visa‚ who are both implementing biometrics-powered payments. According to the bank‚ one of the first events where this was trialed was the Formula 1 race in Miami‚ and that was also the first time this happened at a Formula 1 venue. The ultimate goal is to expand authentication based on individuals’ fingerprints‚ palms‚ and faces to anyone interested‚ but with a focus on stores‚ restaurants‚ and various event venues. J.P. Morgan says this will be a faster and safer‚ as well as “personalized” way for customers to pay‚ while those with things to sell are promised higher turnover and improved customer loyalty‚ but also a centralized place to access transactions and marketing data‚ say reports. And what’s in it for the bank‚ other than potentially amassing large amounts of biometric data? Merchants will have the opportunity to buy J.P. Morgan Payments tablets‚ though this will not be obligatory‚ but support and transaction processing fees will be. In a statement‚ the bank revealed that it is betting on biometric payments as the industry is forecast to grow to 3 billion users and $5.8 trillion worth of transactions over the next two years. And the giant expects digital commerce to eventually cover online‚ mobile‚ and in-store checkout. To use J.P. Morgan’s version‚ customers will have to enroll in the program and verify their identity biometrically to pay at checkout or self-service machines. As for privacy concerns around the use of this technology – J.P. Morgan’s representatives describe it as “a perceived sensitivity towards biometrics.” The post JPMorgan To Roll Out Controversial Biometric Payments appeared first on Reclaim The Net.

New Election‚ Same Tactics: Reid Warns Of GOP Of 'Voter Suppression'

Donald Trump going up against Joe Biden is not the only thing familiar about the 2024 presidential election. There is also MSNBC’s Joy Reid spreading voter suppression conspiracy theories. On the Tuesday installment of The ReidOut‚ the eponymous host welcomed Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock to accuse officials in his state of suppressing the vote‚ the lack of evidence notwithstanding. After Warnock referenced his own election and the appointment of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court‚ Reid claimed that “All of that happened despite your state being in some ways a marquee for voter suppression.” She further claimed‚ “Your governor‚ Brian Kemp‚ who when he was secretary of State almost arithmetically attempted to remove voters from the polls and then very ceremoniously signed a voter suppression law under a portrait of a plantation‚ and yet‚ you have had your state had very high voter registration.” Reid probably meant voter rolls‚ because Kemp has not physically removed people from polling places. Reid offered up no evidence that routine voter roll maintenance was in any way sinister‚ instead asking‚ “What do you make of the state of voting rights at this point‚ Senator? Because there is a John Lewis Voting Rights Act that does exist‚ that I understand is potentially going to be reintroduced in the Senate. What's the state of voting rights in your state and nationally?” For his part‚ Warnock was happy to play along “After I won‚ after Jon Ossoff won‚ the state of Georgia actually doubled down on its voter suppression tactics and the question we have to ask ourselves is why and also how? We know why. They looked at the power of us standing together. The movement of a multiracial democracy emerging in our country‚ the future of our country‚ and they went after it as one court has said in another hearing with surgical precision. That’s what S.B. 202 was about‚ it’s about voter suppression and making it difficult for us to do what we did.” Later in the interview‚ Reid switched topics: We know that one of the ways that Donald Trump and Republicans are hoping to demagogue their way back into‚ you know‚ control of the White House and to hold on to control of the Senate‚ I mean‚ control of the House‚ and gain control of the Senate is the immigration issue. And they have been truly demagoguing an issue of a Georgia young woman who was killed‚ a Georgia young nursing student named Laken Riley. They’ve now passed a law called the Laken Riley Act‚ all Republican members and 37 Democrats voted in the House to support the bill. In something never said on The ReidOut during a gun control segment‚ she added‚ “The legislation requires the detention of any migrant who’s accused of burglary or theft. My understanding is that burglary and theft are already illegal. What does this law add to the current existing law? Is it just a messaging bill? Does it do anything or change anything? I will note for our audience that overall crime is down this year across this country. And migrant crime is negligible. Crime by migrants is negligible. What does this law do? Does it do anything?” Warnock responded by accusing Republicans of using “smoke and mirrors” to pretend that they are doing something on the border after killing the Senate’s border-foreign aid bill. Here is a transcript for the March 12 show: MSNBC The ReidOut 3/12/2024 7:11 PM ET JOY REID: All of that happened despite your state being in some ways a marquee for voter suppression. Your governor‚ Brian Kemp‚ who when he was secretary of State almost arithmetically attempted to remove voters from the polls and then very ceremoniously signed a voter suppression law under a portrait of a plantation‚ and yet‚ you have had your state had very high voter registration. What do you make of the state of voting rights at this point‚ Senator? Because there is a John Lewis Voting Rights Act that does exist‚ that I understand is potentially going to be reintroduced in the Senate. What's the state of voting rights in your state and nationally? RAPHAEL WARNOCK: Well‚ I introduced‚ or reintroduced‚ the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act just a few days ago. I testified regarding it in the Senate Judiciary Hearing earlier today. After I won‚ after Jon Ossoff won‚ the state of Georgia actually doubled down on its voter suppression tactics and the question we have to ask ourselves is why and also how? We know why. They looked at the power of us standing together. The movement of a multiracial democracy emerging in our country‚ the future of our country‚ and they went after it as one court has said in another hearing with surgical precision. That’s what S.B. 202 was about‚ it’s about voter suppression and making it difficult for us to do what we did. … REID: Let me ask you another question‚ because we know that one of the ways that Donald Trump and Republicans are hoping to demagogue their way back into‚ you know‚ control of the White House and to hold on to control of the Senate‚ I mean‚ control of the House‚ and gain control of the Senate is the immigration issue. And they have been truly demagoguing an issue of a Georgia young woman who was killed‚ a Georgia young nursing student named Laken Riley. They’ve now passed a law called the Laken Riley Act‚ all Republican members and 37 Democrats voted in the House to support the bill. The legislation requires the detention of any migrant who’s accused of burglary or theft. Does it do anything? WARNOCK: Let me first of all just say that my heart goes out to this young woman's family‚ Laken Riley did not deserve what happened to her. To answer your question succinctly‚ this is smoke and mirrors by people who are not serious. We had a bipartisan piece of legislation in front of us. It had a lot of provisions‚ some provisions that some folks on my side didn't like‚ but the only way to get comprehensive immigration reform‚ the only way to address the current crisis on the border in divided government is on a bipartisan basis. And so rather than demagoguing this tragic death by this young woman‚ they ought to get serious. And let's pass some bipartisan legislation and deal with the crisis at the border.

The View’s Sunny Hostin Makes a FOOL Out of Herself on the Law and Crime

The View’s staunchly racist and anti-Semitic co-host‚ Sunny Hostin (the descendant of slave owners) often lords her long-ago past of being a federal prosecutor over the rest of the cast as they default to her for legal analysis. The problem with that is that her interpretations of the law and legal procedure are often colored by her political opinions and they tend to fall apart under even layman scrutiny. Well‚ that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday when her claims about reasonable doubt and crime were busted. At the top of the show‚ a majority of the cast kvetched about Special Counsel Robert Hur’s congressional testimony from the previous day. Hostin claimed Hur couldn’t be trusted because he “was appointed by Trump” to be special counsel. That was a lie. Hur was appointed special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland on January 12‚ 2023: By virtue of the authority vested in the Attorney General‚ including 28 U.S.C. §§ 509‚ 510‚ 515‚ and 533‚ in order to discharge my responsibility to provide supervision and management of the Department of Justice‚ and to ensure a full and thorough investigation of certain matters‚ I hereby order as follows: Robert K. Hur is appointed to serve as Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice. Hostin also didn’t seem to understand what the legal standard “beyond a reasonable doubt” meant in terms of prosecuting a case before a jury‚ or at least didn’t want to give credence to Hur’s reasoning for why he didn’t think he could bring the case against President Biden: HOSTIN: Specifically‚ his description of saying that Joe Biden‚ part of the reason he wouldn't charge Biden was that the President could portray himself as an elderly man with a poor memory who would be sympathetic to a jury. That is not the standard when you're a prosecutor. The standard is can you prove your case beyond a reasonable doubt?! One second. [Applause] That is the standard! “And that was one of the reasons he felt that he couldn't win the case [beyond a reasonable doubt]‚” non-lawyer Alyssa Farah Griffin plainly spelled out. “Nope! That is the legal standard!” Hostin shrieked in denial. Thinking she was calling out a double standard‚ Hostin demanded to know where the Department of Justice investigation into former Vice President MIke Pence's classified document retention. Special Counsel Jack Smith investigated and closed the case back in June 2023‚ with no charges filed. Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul was The View’s special guest that day and – as a proponent for the far-left’s bail reform and other weak-on-crime policy proposals – Hostin took it upon herself to voice progressive frustration over the Governor calling up the National Guard and State Troopers to help keep the New York City subway system safe. “Why now‚ why deploy to the subway and how do you respond to some of your fellow Democrats calling the move theatrics that play into Republican narratives that blue cities are poorly run war zones?” she whined. Hochul pushed back: “I’m not buying it. My job is to keep you people safe.” She said average New Yorkers were appreciative of the extra protection and commended the National Guard for stepping up and answering the call. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: ABC’s The View March 13‚ 2024 11:06:19 a.m. Eastern (…) SUNNY HOSTIN: I actually disagree with the assessment that this special counsel that was appointed by Trump was nonpartisan. [Applause] There is no way that a prosecutor puts -- summarizes things in a report that are not contained in the transcripts. That is not how the procedure is done‚ because I have -- ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: So‚ you think only Democrats can try cases against Democrats and only Republicans can try cases against Republicans? HOSTIN: No‚ what I’m saying is back in the day when I was a prosecutor‚ I didn't know which of my colleagues were Republican‚ which were independents‚ which were Democrats. FARAH GRIFFIN: But it's public record who appointed them. HOSTIN: Yes‚ that's true. I was in the Clinton administration and I was also in the Bush administration. But‚ and that is frequently the case‚ but this prosecutor was very partisan and I can tell from -- FARAH GRIFFIN: What specific regard? HOSTIN: Specifically‚ his description of saying that Joe Biden‚ part of the reason he wouldn't charge Biden was that the President could portray himself as an elderly man with a poor memory who would be sympathetic to a jury. That is not the standard when you're a prosecutor. The standard is can you prove your case beyond a reasonable doubt?! One second. [Applause] That is the standard. FARAH GRIFFIN: And that was one of the reasons he felt that he couldn't win the case. HOSTIN: Nope! That is the legal standard! WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Hold on. Let's -- SARA HAINES: Thank you. Sara. Just jumping in here -- I actually in watching it I tend to think when everyone is mad at you at the same time you’ve probably hit the right tone on both sides. So‚ I didn't feel -- I forgot who asked about “did you know the firestorm you would be releasing?” JOY BEHAR: Adam Schiff. HAINES: I don’t want prosecutors to be thinking about that. I want prosecutors to do their job. It should be absent of the response to that job. HOSTIN: But he didn’t use the right legal standard! HAINES: But what I’m saying is‚ I actually took it as the fact that everyone was mad I heard a lot of political noise and what became very clear‚ which he made in his report‚ is how different the situation was with Donald Trump. (…) 11:49:17 a.m. Eastern HOSTIN: Governor‚ after a series of high-profile crimes on New York City subways‚ right‚ you deployed hundreds of state police and National Guard troops into the subway system. But since the pandemic‚ you have done a wonderful job. Overall crime is down in the city. GOV. KATHY HOCHUL (D-NY): Yes‚ it is. HOSTIN: My question is: why now‚ why deploy to the subway and how do you respond to some of your fellow Democrats calling the move theatrics that play into Republican narratives that blue cities are poorly run war zones? HOCHUL: I'm not buying it. I’m not buying it. My job is to keep you people safe. [Applause] I have to -- any way I can I'll keep New Yorkers safe and I’ll tell you who does show appreciation for it‚ the people out there on the streets. I've been walking the streets. I walk into businesses‚ people are saying‚ thank you for taking such strong action. (…)

Can Hamsters Eat Brussels Sprouts? Vet Verified Nutrition Facts

Click to Skip Ahead Brussels Sprout Benefits Risks How Many Can a Hamster Eat? What Do Hamsters Eat? Hamster-Safe Human Foods FAQ Hamsters are adorable little rodents kept as pets by many families across the world. Hamsters are omnivores; in the wild‚ they live on a diet consisting mainly of plants‚ seeds‚ cereals‚ leaves‚ plants‚ and insects. Pet hamsters‚ therefore‚ need their diet at home to mimic their original eating habits and requirements as much as possible. However‚ giving our furry friends a treat is also a pleasure‚ and part of the fun of owning a small animal! You may be wondering‚ then‚ if you can feed Brussels sprouts to your pet hamster. Is it a safe vegetable to give to them? Brussels sprouts are indeed a great and safe vegetable to feed to your hamster‚ with many health benefits due to the nutrition these veggies pack. However‚ there are a few limitations to feeding sprouts to hamsters. The Benefits of Hamsters Eating Brussels Sprouts It is advisable to feed a selection of veggies to your hamster every week‚ and Brussels sprouts are a fabulous vegetable to include. It also appears most hamsters enjoy munching these mini cabbages too. Many nutrients are contained in sprouts‚ making them a suitable addition to your hamster’s diet. They are a good source of fiber‚ antioxidants‚ and moisture. Image Credit: Phoenix Mammadovs‚ Shutterstock 100g of raw Brussels sprouts contains: 43 calories 86g water 8 g fiber 38 g protein 2 g sugar 3 g fat Brussels sprouts also contain Vitamins A‚ C &; K‚ potassium‚ phosphorus‚ calcium and iron. What Are the Risks of Feeding Brussels Sprouts to My Hamster? Brussels sprouts are safe to feed to hamsters‚ but they should be fed raw and fresh‚ not cooked. Cooking sprouts reduces the nutritional content significantly‚ plus it seems that hamsters don’t enjoy them as much. Brussels sprouts belong to a group known as cruciferous vegetables‚ which include cabbage‚ broccoli‚ and cauliflower‚ to name a few. These are healthy vegetables that are nutrient-rich and high in fiber‚ which is why they have a reputation for a smelly side effect. While fiber is an important component of a hamster’s diet‚ too much can cause gas‚ bloating‚ or diarrhea – you can have too much of a good thing! Hamsters are particularly sensitive to gastrointestinal upset‚ and a simple case of diarrhea can quickly become a serious problem. For this reason‚ we mustn’t go overboard with the sprouts. Image Credit: Ari N‚ Shutterstock How Many Brussels Sprouts Can a Hamster Eat? This is always worth checking with your veterinarian for a tailored answer‚ as it will vary from hamster to hamster‚ but a general rule of thumb is not to feed Brussels sprouts to baby hamsters and only half a Brussels sprout to adult hamsters twice a week. Consider cutting the sprout into quarters‚ and if it is a new veggie for your hamster‚ try offering one quarter at first to see if it is tolerated and doesn’t cause any upsets. What Do Hamsters Eat? The best and most balanced diet for domesticated hamsters includes a daily mixture of roughly: 75% of a pellet compound formulation 20% fresh produce‚ seeds‚ animal protein (eg. mealworms‚ boiled egg) 5% treats‚ including fruit Pellets are a commercial diet offering complete nutrition for your hamster. They are readily available from pet stores‚ supermarkets‚ or online stores. These complete pellet diets contain all the correct nutrients and amount a hamster needs. Be sure to purchase a complete and balanced diet specifically for hamsters‚ as diets for other rodents are not the same and cannot be fed instead. Avoid foods that contain a lot of seeds or fruit‚ as your hamster will likely fill up on these tasty bits‚ leaving behind the more essential components. Fresh produce‚ such as leafy greens‚ dandelions‚ and vegetables can be offered daily; they love to eat these types of foods‚ and they’re good for their health. Remember to provide hay or grass (eg. Timothy hay) that can double as a healthy snack and bedding material – hamsters love to burrow! Image Credit: Raquel Vizcaino‚ Shutterstock What Human Foods Can Hamsters Eat? As with all extra treats and snacks for hamsters (and all pets)‚ treats need to be given in moderation. Here are a few healthy and safe (human) foods you can feed to your pet hamster. Any uneaten fruits or veggies need to be removed from their enclosure after around 10 to 12 hours to avoid spoilage. Leafy greens Sweet Potato Cauliflower Seeds Carrots Apples Raisins Peas Pepper Cucumbers Blueberries Spinach Image Credit: atewi‚ Shutterstock Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Can Hamsters Eat Tomatoes? While tomatoes are not toxic to hamsters‚ they’re also not the best fruit to offer due to their high acidic content‚ which can potentially cause digestive issues‚ such as diarrhea or wet tail. Can Hamsters Eat Strawberries? Yes‚ strawberries are a safe and healthy treat for your hamster to consume in small amounts. Can Hamsters Eat Grapes? Yes‚ but only occasionally. For example‚ ¼ of a grape per week. This is due to the high sugar content of grapes which can contribute to obesity. Can Hamsters Eat Oranges? No‚ it is best not to feed oranges to hamsters due to the high citric acid content and sugar levels. Conclusion Brussels sprouts are a healthy vegetable‚ both for humans and hamsters. Just be sure to feed in them moderation and monitor for any signs of gastrointestinal upset. Always check in with your veterinarian if you are unsure about the serving sizes‚ or have any health concerns. Spies‚ lies‚ and TikTok ties exposed

Did you know that ByteDance‚ which is TikTok’s parent company‚ also makes movies? Its studio in Beijing is located close to the headquarters of China’s Ministry of State Security. This is convenient because ByteDance‚ while streaming billions of individuals onto our screens via TikTok‚ is also building an artificial intelligence infrastructure that is run by the Chinese intelligence service. ByteDance is not an entertainment company. It is part of the military intelligence apparatus of the Chinese Communist Party. TikTok’s algorithm was written to keep people glued to their phones. The party has ruled that TikTok’s algorithm is a national security asset.China is trying to destroy us without firing a shot‚ and we’re playing footsie. Military strategists in China say they need mind superiority through “perception manipulation” via propaganda. They do this by changing how people look at the present‚ cutting off a people's historic memory‚ warping their view of their own country’s past so people will be open to changing their views. They aim to change the paradigm of the way people think by targeting people to change the way they view their problems‚ and thereby‚ changing their belief. They want to deconstruct symbols. By getting people to reject certain traditional symbols‚ they modify a nation’s identity. We’ve got our own people in our own country trying to do all those things. When you’re taking down the statutes or reimagining history‚ what do you think you’re doing? You’re dismantling historical narrative‚ so we are more likely to collapse. Here's the kicker‚ according to the Chinese Communist Party: The ultimate goal is to manipulate a country’s value and to achieve strategic goals without an actual overt military battle. China is trying to destroy us without firing a shot‚ and we’re playing footsie . Meanwhile‚ we're also having China build everything. The Chinese crane manufacturing company at the center of a congressional espionage investigation denied posing a threat to U.S. national security. Here's what happened. At our seaports‚ China builds ship-to-shore cargo cranes. Those are the giant cranes you saw Tom Cruise operating in “War of the Worlds.” Spying devices were found in all the cranes China was making. China was in complete denial of any espionage activity‚ but we know the truth: The Chinese are just spying on our ports. Trojan horse sound familiar? Then there’s the threat that China poses on a global scale. This week‚ the chiefs of all the major U.S. spy agencies spoke before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The threats reported during that meeting noted that trade between China and Russia has been increasing since the start of the Ukraine war and that the Chinese exports of goods‚ with potential military use‚ rose more than threefold since 2022.China is helping Russia. China is partnering with Russia. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.)‚ an ally of former President Donald Trump‚ has so far refused to call on a vote that would provide $60 billion more for Ukraine. The measure has passed in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Why would we want to get into a bigger war with Russia when we now know that China is in bed with Russia? Our real enemy is China. CIA director William Burns testified that continued support for Ukraine would send a message to China. Would it? Really? “It's our assessment that Chinese leader Xi Jinping was sobered by what happened in Ukraine‚” he said. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told the committee‚ “The crisis in Gaza is a stark example of how regional developments have the potential of broader‚ even global implications.” Haines also noted attacks by the Houthi militias on shipping and said the militant groups “al-Qaeda and ISIS‚ inspired by Hamas‚ have directed supporters to conduct attacks against Israeli and U.S. interests.” Well‚ that sounds good‚ right? We should send more money to Iran! After a protester interrupted the hearing with shouts about the need to protect civilians in Gaza‚ the spy chiefs turned to protecting the Palestinian enclave. The reality is‚ children are starving. They’re malnourished because humanitarian assistance can't get to them. Whose fault is that? They said it’s difficult to distribute humanitarian existence effectively unless you have a ceasefire.Sure.Emotions rose in the hearing as some senators discussed illegal immigration along the U.S. border with Mexico. Immigration is not a forefront concern of these people. It wouldn’t have been brought up unless a senator pressed the intelligence agency officials to discuss it. Yet‚ here tensions rose. FBI director Christopher Wray expressed concern about “terrorism implications” from potential targeting of vulnerabilities at the border. He discussed rising threats from Americans inspired by Islamic groups and other foreign militants since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. So‚ who are we talking about when officials reference a “rising threat from Americans?” What Americans are we talking about? Are we talking about those monstrous MAGA Trump supporters who are somehow or another “inspired” by foreign militants? Because I know you would never want to say the word “Muslim.” But anybody who believes in the Constitution seems to be on a terrorist watch list right now. Meanwhile‚ the Italian police just arrested three Palestinians allegedly planning terrorist attacks in Italy. And what are we doing? The Department of Justice has just issued a gag order that has required immigration judges to seek department approval before speaking out publicly on anything regarding the border. So‚ we’re now silencing the speech — the First Amendment rights — of our judges. Toward freedom or away from freedom? You can decide for yourself.Want more from Glenn Beck? Dem witnesses dodge when asked whether only citizens should be allowed to vote in federal elections

Several witnesses who spoke at a recent congressional hearing refused to say whether voting in federal elections ought to be limited to U.S. citizens only.On Tuesday‚ a panel of five witnesses — three brought by Democrats and two by Republicans — appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. If passed‚ the bill would require federal approval before some changes to local and state election laws could be implemented. Proponents of the bill claim such onerous federal oversight of election practices is necessary to prevent discriminatory voter suppression efforts.During his designated time‚ Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) asked the panelists to give a "yes or no" response to two questions about federal elections vis-a-vis U.S. citizenship. The first question he posed was: "Do you believe that only citizens of the United States should be able to vote in federal elections?"Despite Lee's directive that the panelists reply either yes or no‚ the three Democrat witnesses‚ representing various left-wing activist groups‚ refused to give a straight answer."We don’t have a position about non-citizens voting in federal elections‚" said Damon Hewitt‚ executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law‚ a "racial justice" legal organization. "We believe that’s what the current laws are‚ and so we’re certainly fighting for everyone who is eligible under current law to vote."Lydia Camarillo — president of Southwest Voter Registration Education Project‚ which seeks to "empower Latinos and Latinas through their vote" — first attempted to sidestep the issue by claiming that "state law" makes those decisions. When Lee pressed her to clarify whether the federal government had any right to determine who votes in federal elections‚ she replied‚ "I don’t have a position on that."Sophia Lin Lakin‚ director of the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project‚ similarly weaseled out of answering the question directly: "Federal law prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections‚ and our focus is on enabling all eligible voters to be able to vote and cast their ballot."Lee then followed up that question by asking whether people ought to prove that they are U.S. citizens when registering to vote. Again‚ he received a string of obfuscations."I think your first question kind of answers the second‚" said Hewitt. "Based upon the applicable rules‚ federal or state elections‚ what have you‚ we know we have to follow those rules. The question is what is the impact of those rules?"Camarillo then tried to deflect by briefly rambling about voter registration affidavits‚ but when Lee redirected her back to the question at hand‚ she said with obvious disdain‚ "It's already redundant in many states‚ and it's already been asked."For her part‚ Lakin asserted that laws requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote are "discriminatory."The two Republican witnesses — Maureen Riordan of the Public Interest Legal Foundation and Hans von Spakovsky of the Election Law Reform Initiative at the Heritage Foundation — both affirmed that only U.S. citizens should be allowed to vote and that they should be required to provide documentary evidence of their citizenship when registering to vote. Von Spakovsky later added that voter ID laws increase voter participation in all racial groups‚ including blacks and Hispanics. "That's not my opinion‚" he said. "That's based on turnout data that we now have for more than 15 years."At the conclusion of his time‚ Lee lamented that the Democrat witnesses could not agree with the "overwhelming majority of Americans" who want only documented U.S. citizens voting in federal elections. "You have to show identification to board an airplane ... to go to the doctor ... to pick up prescriptions‚" he said. "Why not voting?"The entire hearing can be seen here. Lee's time begins just before the 1:19:00 mark.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

'Elon Musk is mad at me': Don Lemon says Musk ended host's partnership with X 'hours after' their interview

Television host and political commentator Don Lemon says that Elon Musk's X canceled their partnership agreement just hours after Lemon interviewed the platform owner for the first episode of his new show. The social media app announced in January 2024 that Lemon‚ among others‚ was set to launch a new show on the platform to showcase a diverse range of viewpoints. However‚ as Lemon noted through a statement‚ the two entities have ended their partnership agreement after the very first episode was filmed."Elon Musk has canceled the partnership I had with X‚ which they announced as part of their public commitment to amplifying more diverse voices on their platform‚" Lemon wrote in a statement. The former CNN host said that it took mere hours after his interview of Musk for the billionaire to pull the plug."He informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday. That interview will remain the premier episode of the 'The Don Lemon Show.'""Elon publicly encouraged me to join X with a new show‚ saying I would have his 'full support‚' and that his 'digital town square is for all.' He and his team pursued the deal in numerous conversations and made significant commitments about the support X would provide for the show‚" Lemon continued. The 58-year-old did not specify what questions could possibly have led Musk to cancel the agreement but alleged that a line of questioning "from people like [him]" wasn't allowed."I made the decision to work with them in a unique partnership that I believed would ultimately assure that my work would be available to the most people‚ in the largest possible venue. I took Elon and his management team's word that they‚ for the first time‚ were interested in working directly with new and diverse voices.""There were no restrictions on the interview that he willingly agreed to‚ and my questions were respectful and wide ranging‚ covering everything from SpaceX to the presidential election. We had a good conversation. Clearly he felt differently. His commitment to a global town square where all questions can be asked and all ideas can be shared seems not to include questions of him from people like me‚" he concluded. — (@) Just 33 minutes after Lemon's statement was posted on X‚ the platform's official business account released its own statement:"X is a platform that champions free speech‚ and we’re proud to provide an open environment for diverse voices and perspectives. The Don Lemon Show is welcome to publish its content on X‚ without censorship‚ as we believe in providing a platform for creators to scale their work and connect with new communities."X officials did not explain the reasoning for the breakup‚ simply saying that "like any enterprise‚" they "reserve the right to make decisions" about business partnerships. X is a platform that champions free speech‚ and we’re proud to provide an open environment for diverse voices and perspectives. The Don Lemon Show is welcome to publish its content on X‚ without censorship‚ as we believe in providing a platform for creators to scale their work… — (@) Following his formal statement‚ Lemon posted a video that appeared to have been recorded on his phone about the apparent fallout from the interview."Elon Musk is mad at me‚" he began. Lemon added that it was indeed the interview that Musk was "apparently so upset about" that ended the partnership. The host noted that nothing would change regarding his new show "except for my relationship with Elon and X‚" adding that there was "a whole lot that went down." Some speculated that a race-based conversation with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy led to the ouster‚ while others thought that comments about the age of candidate Nikki Haley contributed to the firing‚ as well.Lemon was awarded a reported $24.5 million as part of his dismissal from CNN. First guest. @elonmusk like you’ve never seen him before.

You won’t want to miss this. #TheDonLemonShow — (@) Like Blaze News?
