When I opened up my email and Twitter feed this morning‚ I was bombarded with claims that Elon Musk has suddenly reinstated a rule on Twitter against “misgendering” people with the wrong pronouns. Fox Business ran this headline: From that Fox Business article‚ here is a portion: After Elon Musk acquired the Twitter platform in response to a satire outlet being banned for misgendering‚ he has since defended reinstating a version of rules against such conduct. Musk famously purchased the Twitter platform after it had suspended the Babylon Bee‚ a Christian satire outlet for tweeting a headline naming the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine‚ who identifies as transgender‚ as 2022’s “Man of the Year.” But after having rebranded the platform as X‚ Musk appears to have replaced certain guidelines against misgendering or using the former names of transgender individuals. In an article headlined‚ “X quietly revived anti-misgendering policy that Musk dropped last year‚” Ars Technica was reportedly among the first to note “X’s updated policy confirms that X will ‘reduce the visibility of posts that purposefully use different pronouns to address someone other than what that person uses for themselves‚ or that use a previous name that someone no longer goes by as part of their transition.’” “Musk has since been called out on his platform by some of its most popular users‚” the activist behind LibsOfTikTok‚ Chaya Raichik‚ wrote. “Apparently X might’ve reinstated their “misgendering” rule so I gotta test it out… Richard Levine is male. I’d even settle for someone with a basic grasp of the English language and knowledge of how to properly construct an article. What in the world is going on with that first sentence? That’s what passes for journalism these days?  Claiming that Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion just because one satire account got banned? That may have been a very‚ very small sliver of the pie of reasons why Elon Musk bought Twitter‚ but I’m pretty sure that was not the single driving factor the way that article makes it seem. Good grief Fox Business‚ might be time to increase your hiring standards. Anyway‚ not only is that first sentence wildly inaccurate‚ but the underlying claim that Elon Musk reinstated misgendering rules is also not true. A train derailment in Pennsylvania early Saturday morning sent several cars into a river. According to reports‚ a Norfolk Southern train derailed in Lower Saucon Township in Northampton County around 7:15 a.m. “Northampton County Emergency Management as well as the Lehigh County Hazmat team are on site and providing support. Norfolk Southern is on site and is doing an assessment‚” the County of Northampton posted on social media. Officials said multiple train cars ended up in the Lehigh River. We will investigate this incident to understand how it happened and prevent others like it.” Per Fox News: Norfolk Southern had multiple derailments last year‚ with one of the most notable in Ohio “when 38 cars of a 151-car train carrying hazardous materials derailed and 12 others caught fire‚” CBS News Philadelphia reports. Norfolk Southern said in a statement to Fox News Digital they responded to the incident near Bethlehem and “appreciate the quick‚ professional response by local emergency agencies.” Crews and contractors are developing a clean-up plan at the derailment site. A corporate fact sheet from Norfolk Southern says the company “has the most extensive intermodal franchise in the East” and ships over 2‚900 commodities for its customers. The company also says it is the “largest rail shipper of metals in North America.”
