DNC Chair Admits Replacing Biden With Harris Was A Mistake: ‘The Primary Was Done’

As Jaime Harrison prepares to exit his position as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, he has a few parting thoughts to share. During a recent Associated Press interview, he offered some candid opinions about the party’s decision to push Joe Biden out of the 2024 race in favor of Kamala Harris. There has been ample debate on the left regarding whether the move was appropriate, and Harrison came down firmly on the side of those who think Biden should have remained in the race. According to Breitbart: Should Democrats have stuck with Biden? HARRISON: “That’s my normal default, is that you stick by your people, right, particularly people who have worked hard on behalf of the party.” “I went into this thinking, OK, you’ve got probably the most successful of my lifetime legislative president who has poured tons of money into making sure that not just Joe Biden and Kamala Harris get elected, but Democrats get elected — not just in the battleground states, but all states who support a lot of resources and his own time fundraising in order to strengthen the state parties.” “And then when he hits a roadblock, when he hits a bump in the road, do we stick with him, or do we jettison him? That’s the mentality that I had going into this. And my nature is, ‘I’m on the team with you, you’re my quarterback. You got sacked a few times. But you know what? I’m going to block the hell out of the next person that’s coming at you.’ And that is not always the mentality of everybody in my party. And so sometimes, people look on the sidelines, ready to call in the backup.” Was the party prepped for a possible candidate switch? HARRISON: “I had a very small group to whom I basically said, just game out for me what happens … if I have to do something, because people were asking for a big primary and this and that — and again, we have a short time frame, and so basically it was going back to the rules.” “I didn’t even talk to all of the people in my inner circle. There were two staffers … just in case anything happened, I wanted to make sure that I knew what we could do. And so we had some structure for what something would look like.” The Democratic Party’s controversial move has sparked plenty of mixed reactions from across the political spectrum: Should Democrats have stuck with Biden? #Election2024 — Georgia Log Cabin (@GeorgiaLogCabin) November 6, 2024 Here’s a question. Kamala was obviously a bad candidate, generationally wretched. Why don’t Democrats blame her more? It feels like it would serve a lot of purposes to do that yet the fingers are going elsewhere. — Matt Stoller (@matthewstoller) December 28, 2024 I tried to told yall Democrats should have stuck with Joe Biden. They came at the king and missed, keeping Biden in position to harm Harris Sloppy work, and it will result in blacks being pushed out of the Democrat coalitionhttps://t.co/sxvPhkHwMm pic.twitter.com/CLVb11c3YO — James David Dickson (@downi75) October 22, 2024 For his part, Biden has repeatedly claimed to believe that he would have been able to defeat Trump. As USA Today reported about its exit interview with the then-president last month: After he reluctantly pulled out in July, Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee, then lost in November. Could he have won? “It’s presumptuous to say that, but I think yes,” Biden said, adding he based that view on polling he had reviewed. He expressed no such confidence when asked whether he had the vigor to serve another four years in office, though. “I don’t know,” he replied. To be sure, many analysts doubt Biden could have won another term from voters who were gloomy about inflation and eager for change. What’s more, his shuffling gait and verbal miscues had raised questions about his fitness for office. Through an interview that stretched for nearly an hour, Biden was engaged and loquacious, though at times he spoke so softly that it was difficult to hear him. On his desk were index cards that seemed to have talking points and statistics, but he glanced at them only once, at the end, as if to make sure he had mentioned the items most important to him. Here’s some additional coverage of Biden’s post-election analysis:

Musk Outlines DOGE’s Plan To Cut $4 Billion Per Day In Projected FY 2026 Spending

While much of the attention in D.C. lately has been on the Senate confirmation hearings for President Donald Trump’s nominees, one pick who didn’t require approval by senators was busy getting down to the business of cutting federal costs. Elon Musk, appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, has set a high goal for slashing the nation’s debt and deficit by cutting out redundancies and inefficiencies across the board. This week, he offered some additional details about the fledgling plan, including his ultimate goal to cut an average of $4 billion per day ahead of the fiscal year 2026 budget. Doing so, he explained, would put DOGE on course to cut the deficit in half, from about $2 trillion to $1 trillion. I am cautiously optimistic that we will reach the $4B/day FY2026 reduction this weekend https://t.co/XQBK3rqkwo — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 1, 2025 As Yahoo! Finance reported, Musk is recruiting a number of fellow Big Tech visionaries to help achieve the goal: Elon Musk is taking on a new challenge, this time the U.S. federal budget. His goal? To cut $2 trillion from the $7 trillion annual budget by 2026. To achieve this, he’s launched the Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE. This is a team of tech leaders and innovators tasked with identifying waste and inefficiencies in government spending. The team behind DOGE includes some big names from the tech world. Marc Andreessen, Joe Lonsdale, Antonio Gracias, Steve Davis and Travis Kalanick – names synonymous with Silicon Valley success – are all on board. The group was put together with the help of entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. But there’s a catch: none of these tech titans have any government experience, and critics are already questioning whether their business-first mindset can handle the complexities of the federal bureaucracy. According to The Washington Post, the focus will be on cutting redundancies, using AI to automate processes and reviewing federal contracts to eliminate wasteful spending. Musk has acknowledged that achieving the full $2 trillion reduction is ambitious. Musk’s recent social media statements on the matter have attracted considerable attention: Reducing the federal deficit from $2T to $1T in FY2026 requires cutting an average of ~$4B/day in projected 2026 spending from now to Sept 30. That would still result in a ~$1T deficit, but economic growth should be able to match that number, which would mean no inflation in… — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 31, 2025 Deleted https://t.co/KlA2fW0oyY — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 1, 2025 DOGE has now saved taxpayers over $1 billion in crazy DEI contracts https://t.co/P81LgRKeOV — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 31, 2025 Musk himself has acknowledged that there are a lot of variables at play, so he has been careful to manage expectations along the way. As the New York Post reported last month: Musk, 53, explained that the $2 trillion goal he floated on the campaign trail was merely the “best-case outcome” and admitted that he believes there may only be a “good shot” at achieving just half of that. “I think we’ll try for $2 trillion, I think that’s like the best-case outcome,” Musk told Stagwell CEO Mark Penn during an X Spaces conversation. “If you try for $2 trillion you have a good shot at getting $1 [trillion]. “If we can drop the budget deficit from $2 trillion to $1 trillion and free up the economy to have additional growth, such that the output of goods and services keeps pace with the increase in the money supply, then there will be no inflation,” he added. “So that, I think, would be an epic outcome.” In the following clip, Musk provides additional thoughts about his deficit-cutting strategy:

Trump Admin GUTS The “Green New Scam” With New Order

The time has come to end this climate change nonsense. And the USDA was told to drop the hoax. Internal emails show a directive to scrub public sites of any climate change content by Friday’s end of business. The Office of Communications will decide what happens next. The deadline? Less than 24 hours, the end of business day, Friday. Looks like climate change just got it’s eviction notice. Imagine how the liberal media will respond to this. THIS is what WINNING looks like. USDA has been ordered to scrub all ‘Climate Change’ from their websites. “Climate Change is a Hoax…”-President Trump pic.twitter.com/32AX59NTp9 — Liz Churchill (@liz_churchill10) January 31, 2025 The wins are rolling in! And we’ve only started. #BREAKING: The Department of Agriculture has ordered that ALL references to “climate change” be removed from their website by end of day today, per ABC Trump is gutting ALL of the Green New Scam! pic.twitter.com/y83WsqMSVH — Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) January 31, 2025 ABC News reports: The U.S. Department of Agriculture has directed agency officials to review and remove content related to climate change from its public websites, according to internal emails obtained by ABC News. The directive instructs web managers to identify, archive, or unpublish materials mentioning climate change by “no later than close of business this Friday,” according to the emails. In an email sent Thursday, USDA Director of Digital Communications Peter Rhee detailed the process, requiring staff to “identify and archive or unpublish any landing pages focused on climate change” and track related content in an attached Excel spreadsheet for review. “OC will review the submitted materials and make determinations on next steps,” Rhee wrote, referring to the department’s Office of Communications. A separate email sent to website managers at the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) emphasized the urgency of the request. “USDA and ARS OC are requesting you comply with the instructions below from USDA’s Office of Communications,” the email read, instructing ARS staff to submit their content audit by 3 p.m. ET Friday to meet the department’s deadline. President Trump’s Envoy Just Flew Home With 6 Americans Held Hostage in South America Under Biden’s Watch

The good news just keeps coming with this administration! As a bit of a world traveler, I never required the assistance of U.S. diplomatic or embassy help. Well — except that one time we were raided by gypsies in Tirana, Albania and I lost a really cool hat as well as my (apparently very valuable) American passport. But that’s a different story. The point is… I always knew help was there if I legitimately found myself needing it in a foreign nation, if I could just make contact with the embassy. That’s how it always was.  We’re Americans, and we take care of our own.  No matter where in the world. It hasn’t been quite like that for some time, but this story might be part of the comeback tour! Yesterday morning, the White House Press Secretary hinted that something might be up in Venezuela — but she didn’t spill the beans fully: If you’ll recall, we alerted you to the fact that Americans were being held in Venezuela back in September when news started breaking that a U.S. sailor had been captured, highlighting an apparent hostage situation on the part of Venezuelan President Maduro: BREAKING: U.S. Sailor Being Held By Venezuelan Intelligence Agency Well... a few things have happened since then.  And one really big thing. President Trump stepped back into the White House. Fast-forward to today... and that's when President Trump's envoy (miracle worker extraordinaire) did what he does best. Check this out -- that's him, on his way back from Venezuela with... 1?  2? Nope -- he brought 6 of the American hostages back home who had been held for many long months by the tyrant Nicolas Maduro. BREAKING: President Trump's Envoy Rick Grenell just departed Venezuela with six Americans who were held hostage by Nicolas Maduro's regime under Biden. "They just spoke to President Trump, and they couldn’t stop thanking him." - @RichardGrenell ONE TRIP DID THIS! WOW!!! pic.twitter.com/Dq94hQPyvZ — George (@BehizyTweets) February 1, 2025 President Trump quickly posted to his Truth Social account the news. Ric Grenell may go down in history as one of the most prolific freer of foreign-held hostages... ever. Just been informed that we are bringing six hostages home from Venezuela. Thank you to Ric Grenell and my entire staff. Great job! Donald Trump Truth Social Post 07:29 PM EST 01/31/25 — Donald J. Trump Posts From His Truth Social (@TrumpDailyPosts) February 1, 2025 And how many meetings did it take Richard Grenell to walk away with a squad of six Americans in tow? How many expensive flights? How many weeks of media attention afforded to the tyrant Nicolas Maduro? One meeting, one two-way flight, and no media attention except what you're seeing here. President Trump’s envoy, Richard Grenell, just went to Venezuela and after one meeting there he’s bringing home 6 Americans that Biden left imprisoned in Venezuela. America First in action! pic.twitter.com/Mmz9sY2JUj — Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) February 1, 2025 And how long did it take, in total: Just a few hours ago, it was reported that @RichardGrenell was going to Venezuela to talk about our immigration problem. A few hours later, Ric walks away with 6 hostages. This administration is unbelievable. pic.twitter.com/HKOpxAp9fL — TheStormHasArrived (@TheStormRedux) February 1, 2025 The six grateful Americans all spoke to President Trump on the plane ride home, according to the post shared by Grenell. It has been reported that there are potentially 3 more Americans remaining to be freed, accused of terrorism and being mercenaries, according to a report in Fox News: Following a meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in Caracas to discuss, in part, the release of Americans being held in the country, Richard Grenell, President Donald Trump’s envoy for special missions announced on X Friday night that he was returning to the U.S. with six of them. "They just spoke to @realDonaldTrump and they couldn’t stop thanking him," Grenell said in his post without identifying the six men, four of whom were dressed in light-blue Venezuelan prison outfits. It’s been reported that at least nine Americans have been held by Venezuela where Maduro’s officials have accused most of them of being involved in terrorism or acting as "mercenaries." On a call earlier on Friday with reporters, Mauricio Claver-Carone, the U.S. special envoy on Latin America, said that "American hostages need to be released immediately, unequivocally." But he added that "this is not a quid pro quo. It’s not a negotiation in exchange for anything. Trump himself has made that very clear." Grenell apparently said the most badass, Jack Bauer, Navy SEAL (the Charlie Sheen version...) thing he could have possibly said upon greeting the 6 Americans: "Hello. I'm an American diplomat sent by President Trump and I'm here to bring you home." “Hello. I’m an American diplomat sent by President Trump and I’m here to bring you home.” pic.twitter.com/mMJ7nDu88s — Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) February 1, 2025 There are reports that the discussions between Grenell and Maduro included a warning about consequences if the Americans' detainment continued. He also allegedly demanded that Maduro accept flights from American bringing its' "criminals and gangs" back, as part of the new U.S. immigration policy, according to a story in The Hill: Grenell met with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to send a warning about the consequences that would come from the continued detainment of the Americans. Mauricio Claver-Carone, Trump’s special envoy for Latin America, told reporters in an earlier call on Friday that Grenell was visiting Latin America on a “very specific mission” that did not affect the U.S.’s posture towards Maduro’s leadership. The U.S. government maintains Maduro’s election victory was “illegitimate” and a “desperate attempt to seize power.” Reports suggest the deal involved Venezuela agreeing to accept Venezuelan migrants from the U.S. and the release of the Americans in exchange for the U.S. giving Venezuela certain concessions. However, the details of the agreement were not immediately clear. Claver Carone said Grenell’s demands to Maduro involved Venezuela accepting back its “criminals and gangs” in addition to the release of American hostages, according to The Washington Post. We are home. God bless these Americans. pic.twitter.com/L36mNkvEom — Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) February 1, 2025 In summary, what lesson can we take away from today's events? In dealing with foreign tyrants, rescuing Americans, and handling the business of the United States... there are two giant, important, critical takeaways to remember: 1.) Get rid of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the democrats. 2.) Replace with President Trump, America First patriots, and people who remember that it's supposed to mean something special to be an American -- and that's okay. Welcome home guys.

Here’s What The Polls Say About President Trump’s Second Term So Far…

President Trump’s second term kicked off with a bang a little over 10 days ago…and the ratings are in! Even MSM outlets like NBC News are being forced to admit that President Trump’s second term is off to a great start, with people having an overall better image of him than at the start of his first term in 2017. You’ve also got CNN admitting that President Trump is the first president to have a higher approval rating in the first few weeks of his second term compared to any week of his first term: CNN: “Donald Trump is the first President ever whose net approval rating in the first month of his second term is higher than any rating that he had as an entire first term.” pic.twitter.com/VrYcTNWtLj — jay plemons (@jayplemons) January 26, 2025 On immigration policy and deportations, over half of Americans are backing President Trump’s initiatives. Polls also showed that the economy is the #1 issue on the minds of Americans. Here’s what the NBC News report had to say: President Donald Trump made quick work of his first week-plus back in office — ticking off a number of campaign-trail promises, issuing a boatload of pardons (some controversial) and enacting retribution on his political opponents. So far, the early polling shows Trump starting with more backing from voters — and more wiggle room — than he had going into his first term in the White House. But it remains to be seen how voters will judge his first actions as president. The former president entered his second term with a better image rating than he had in January 2017. NBC News/Wall Street Journal polling from the days before his first inauguration found just 38% of adults giving him a positive rating, while Fox News found 42% of registered voters viewed him positively at that point. Now, Fox News’ most recent poll showed Trump with a 50% positive rating among registered voters and a 50% unfavorable rating. A new Wall Street Journal poll found that 47% of registered voters viewed him favorably, while 51% viewed him unfavorably. Both polls were conducted before Trump took office. Polling is split on Americans’ expectations for Trump. According to CNN polling, 56% of American adults say they expect Trump to be a very good or fairly good president, while 43% expect him to be fairly poor or very poor. (CNN’s preinaugural poll in January 2021 found slightly higher expectations ahead of Joe Biden’s term, while its polling in January 2017 found adults split on their expectations for Trump, with 48% saying they think he’d be very or fairly good and 48% saying he’d be very or fairly poor.) A preinaugural poll from The New York Times and Ipsos found that 47% of adults are either excited or optimistic about his presidency, while 51% are either pessimistic or worried about his presidency. Meanwhile, when it comes to some of the key issues Trump has pursued in the earliest days of his second term, the polling shows both opportunity and peril for his presidency. Polling from CNN and The New York Times showed that the economy is far and away the most important issue on Americans’ minds. But many of the headlines Trump has made so far center around issues like immigration and pardons, particularly his decision to issue a sweeping pardon for those convicted over their conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Americans appear broadly more open to Trump’s efforts on deportations than they do on the Jan. 6-related pardons. The polls also show that public support for Trump’s actions falls off when voters consider the potential outcomes if (or when) Trump takes the hardest line on those issues. The Wall Street Journal found just 38% of registered voters backed blanket pardons for all Jan. 6 defendants (57% opposed it). That’s compared with 43% who said they’d back pardons for all except those convicted of assaulting police officers and 54% who opposed it. (Trump ended up pardoning virtually all who faced federal charges, including those convicted of violent offenses. A handful of others convicted on conspiracy charges got their sentences commuted.) On immigration enforcement, there appears to be a majority or strong plurality baseline of support for Trump’s broad pledge of enacting widespread deportations. The Wall Street Journal found that 52% of registered voters favor a call to “detain and deport millions of undocumented immigrants” and 45% oppose it, while 55% of adults in the New York Times/Ipsos poll supported deporting all immigrants in America illegally and 42% opposed it. So, why is the consensus on President Trump’s second term generally higher than in his first? Maybe it had something to do with the pause… With President Trump out of office for these past four years, and really, America having no real leader (at least on the surface…), Americans are so relieved to have a real president back in charge… Someone with a mandate who is taking action to bring about a new American golden age… Jamie Roe shared some great thoughts in an opinion piece for USA Today: Let’s face it: For the past four years, it has seemed to a lot of us that we haven’t had a leader in our nation. Throughout his term as president, we watched Joe Biden seemingly unable to find his way off a stage, shaking hands with air, stumbling along while trying to read a teleprompter, being nearly hidden from the media and getting our information from a press secretary who reads answers out of a binder (like telling us the border is secure and Biden would never pardon his son). The best news from Inauguration Day is the realization that we have a president again. After four years of wondering who is actually calling the shots in Washington – because we suspected it wasn’t Biden – there is no question who is in charge now. Donald J. Trump is back, he’s ready to lead, and we know exactly what he will do because it will be exactly what he said he would do in his reelection campaign: Put America first. Look at his first day back in office. Up early for a church service, tea at the White House with Biden, headed off to the U.S. Capitol for his swearing-in ceremony, delivered a speech to refocus the nation, gave a second speech to supporters in the Capitol, signed Cabinet nominations and executive orders before leaving the Capitol, went to the rally/parade, headed back to the White House, signed dozens more executive orders, held an hour-long impromptu news conference with reporters in the Oval Office, changed into formal wear and headed to the inaugural balls, danced at three of them with the first lady and gave further remarks to attendees, then returned to the White House for the night. Does anyone think Biden could have done all of that? Change and vigor have arrived back in Washington. What are your thoughts? Are you even happier with Trump 2.0? What would you like to see President Trump and his administration focus on in the coming days, weeks, and months? Let us know your thoughts in the comments…

President Trump Just BANNED Brennan, Bolton, Clapper… From ALL FEDERAL BUILDINGS!

For the media and democrats still reeling because President Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do, the constant influx of news relating a never ending stream of the most recent ‘wins’ by the Trump administration has to be getting unbearable at this point. For me… this is news writing heaven!  Every bit of newly discovered bad news we didn’t already know about the Biden administration’s failures is accentuated by the good news — because President Trump is addressing all of it! And here’s another victory for the Constitution, privacy, and national security. President Trump just took fresh action to curtain the danger presented by the now infamous 51 former intelligence officials who recently had their security clearances revoked. Now, the likes of John Brennan, Leon Panetta, James Clapper, and John Bolton are hereby BANNED from unescorted access to any federal government building or facility! BREAKING: Trump DROPS THE HAMMER, bans former CIA Director John Brennan from ALL federal buildings. pic.twitter.com/VmXTpslqaV — Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) January 31, 2025 The initial news was that Brennan had been banned. But it quickly became clear that all 51 of the former intelligence officials who liked about the Biden laptop and rubber stamped the “Russian disinformation” cover story to help Biden and hurt Trump in the 2020 election would be losing their privileges. Trump just banned the 51 intel agents who lied about Biden’s laptop from entering all federal buildings pic.twitter.com/xEkMUgk7iP — End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) January 31, 2025 The Jan. 29th memorandum expanding the day-one Executive Order revoking their security clearances orders their immediate ban from federal buildings without an escort, according to a report in the Daily Wire: President Donald Trump is taking further action against the 50 former intelligence officials who falsely suggested Hunter Biden’s laptop was “part of a Russian disinformation campaign,” instructing agencies to also ban those individuals from stepping foot in secure U.S. government facilities, according to a memo obtained by The Daily Wire. The Jan. 29 cabinet memorandum, first obtained by The Daily Wire, expands Trump’s day-one executive order, which revoked the security clearance for the 50 individuals. Sent “on behalf of the President,” it orders the country’s top national security agencies to “revoke unescorted access to secure U.S. Government facilities from the 50 former intelligence officials named in the Executive Order.” “These individuals no longer possess a need to access secure facilities, and as outlined in the Executive Order, do not have the appropriate security clearances to access classified information,” the memo states. Included in the list of individuals are prominent members of the intelligence community, including former CIA directors John Brennan, Michael Hayden, and Leon Panetta, who also at one time served as Secretary of Defense. It also includes the former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and John Bolton, the longtime diplomat who most recently served under Trump as his national security advisor. The memo was sent to the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Director of National Intelligence, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. It was also distributed to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, who is tasked with informing any other “clearance-granting U.S. Government entity” of the ban “to ensure compliance.” The action comes as part of the Trump administration’s effort to weed out government officials who participated in political weaponization of their power. His initial executive order charged that “the signatories willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions.” You can read the entire memorandum here:  Cabinet Memo 1-29-2025 As I researched this story I was reminded that Biden pardoned basically everyone and the kitchen sink — but not Brennan. Trump just banned Brennan from all federal buildings along with the other 51 intel officers Brennan was not issued a pardon by Biden Raise your hand if you want Trump to instruct AG Bondi to go after John Brennan for his role in the Russia Collusion hoax pic.twitter.com/LCXK4B1t7e — @Chicago1Ray (@Chicago1Ray) January 31, 2025 That man was instrumental at every stage working against President Trump at the behest of his enemies in the Deep State and power elites of the democratic party. The conspiracy theorist in my can’t help but wonder — was he intentionally not pardoned, even though he would obviously stand under the threat of repercussions for his known role in the lawfare and smear campaigns against President Trump? Was he not pardoned in an attempt to avoid highlight him as a threat to President Trump during his current term? Was he simply supposed to take the fiery verbal darts, all the while maintaining enough clearance and accessibility to information that could be used to once again weaponize the systems against President Trump during his current term? Maybe.  But if so, President Trump just proved his instincts and intelligence worthy of the presidency. If that wasn’t intentional, he just revealed his character, ability to keep promises, and calculating shrewdness. It’s hard to burn the place down on the way out… if you don’t have access. Former intel agents lose security clearance. Current Office of Personnel gets locked out of personal files of federal employees. Former FBI agents with questionable (or confirmed) character flaws proving they will carry out unconstitutional, corrupt, and immoral investigations are ‘purged’ from the Agency. Those same intel agents get banned from all federal buildings. I’m seeing a pattern here with one key point: mitigate the fallout of your bold actions before you take them. It seems that President Trump is highly focused on that line of thinking right now — no reason to take one step forward just to take 3 steps back because of the usual pushback or fallout. And for all practical purposes, it seems to be working! While many President-Elects would have sat back or hit the coast button for a few months waiting on the inauguration, President Trump did something to a degree that no President has ever done before him. It is now obvious that his team had every day plotted and planned for… months?  Years? By the time he took the oath, his administration was already in full swing from the very first moment. As such, his enemies don’t have time to react until he’s on to the next thing, and the next, and the one after that. Wisdom says don’t leave the snakes in the hen house once they reveal themselves to you. Experience says mitigate their likely next move after you kick them out of the hen house. President Trump had wisdom the first go-around, but now he has the experience to neutralize the secondary threat before it ever happens; not just the initial threat. Tired of winning yet?  Nope — me, either.

CBS Journalists FURIOUS As Network Prepares to Settle $10B Trump Lawsuit

Staffers at CBS News are reportedly fuming as the network prepares to settle President Trump’s lawsuit against them. President Trump is suing CBS News for $10 billion after they were caught deceptively editing Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes interview. Now, the upper echelons at the network have green-lit talks with President Trump’s representatives about negotiating a payout. But, the so-called ‘journalists’ over at CBS are outraged over this proposition, as they worry it could endanger the ‘free speech’ of the press. I guess they must think that ‘free speech’ constitutes lying and manipulating the American people? Here’s what’s being reported: CBS STAFFERS ‘FUME’ AS PARAMOUNT CONSIDERS TRUMP SETTLEMENT CBS News journalists are outraged as Paramount explores settling Trump’s $10B lawsuit over a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala. Journalists at the Tiffany Network’s news division are up in arms as Paramount chairwoman Shari Redstone green-lighted talks with the president’s representatives over a payout, the Status newsletter reported on Friday. Then-candidate Trump filed a lawsuit in October in which he accused the long-running investigative program “60 Minutes” of manipulating an interview with Harris in a way that was unfavorable to him. Insiders told Status that both CBS News president Wendy McMahon and “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens are strongly opposed to settling as staffers fumed that a payout could have negative ramifications for press freedom. Legal experts also have dismissed the lawsuit as meritless. “There is absolutely no reason, from a legal perspective, for CBS to settle — this is a ridiculous case,” First Amendment attorney Theodore Boutrous Jr. told Status. Nevertheless, Redstone, the 70-year-old daughter of the late media mogul Sumner Redstone, is believed to be eager to put the legal saga behind her in order to boost the odds that Trump administration regulators will rubber-stamp a merger between her company and Skydance Media, according to the New York Times. Variety added: Paramount Global and CBS News may have very different views on the journalism produced each week by “60 Minutes.” Staffers at CBS News, the unit that serves as home to the venerable newsmagazine as well as “CBS Evening News” and has ties to the early days of TV news when Edward R. Murrow held sway, are steaming over the prospect that parent corporation Paramount Global may settle a $10 billion lawsuit filed by now-President Donald Trump against “60 Minutes” that appears to be underpinned by weak arguments. Two reports in recent weeks, one published Thursday by the New York Times and another earlier this month by the Wall Street Journal, suggested executives at Paramount were considering ways to bring the suit to a close. Filed in federal court in the Northern District of Texas in November, the suit alleges “60 Minutes” tried to mislead voters by airing two different edits of remarks made in an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, then Trump’s rival for the White House. CBS sought to have the case thrown out in a subsequent filing. Though the suit is seen as shoddily constructed by legal experts, it is levied as Paramount is moving to be acquired by Skydance Media, a transaction worth billions to Shari Redstone, the controlling owner of Paramount through her family’s National Amusements Inc. theater chain. CBS News staffers believe Paramount and Redstone could seek a settlement in order to ensure the Skydance deal goes forward without substantial delay. A court filing on Friday suggested talks could be in the offing. Attorneys for President Trump filed a request to postpone a deadline to respond to CBS’s motion to dismiss by Feb. 7. Such a motion doesn’t mean a settlement is near, but it could indicate the two sides are having discussions about potential outcomes. The court approve the extension. But there are also new pressures being brought to bear. “Late Wednesday, CBS News was sent a Letter of Inquiry from the Federal Communications Commission asking for the full, unedited transcript and camera feeds from our interview with Vice President Harris which aired on October 7, 2024,” CBS News said in a Friday statement. “We are working to comply with that inquiry as we are legally compelled to do.” The FCC has also reinstated a complaint made last year against New York’s WCBS, also part of Paramount, accusing the station of “intentional news distortion,” tied to the“60 Minutes” interview with Harris.

UN decries sexual violence as weapon of war in DRC

GENEVA — As fighting between M23 rebels and Congolese armed troops escalate in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights warns that the warring parties increasingly are using rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war. “Conflict-related sexual violence has been an appalling feature of armed conflict in eastern DRC for decades,” said Jeremy Laurence, spokesperson for U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk. Laurence emphasized that the high commissioner “is particularly concerned this latest escalation risks deepening” the “conflict-related sexual violence much further.” The ongoing crisis in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, or the DRC, continues to escalate, with tensions involving the Congolese government and the M23 rebel group. The DRC government has officially designated the M23 rebel group as a terrorist organization, while the United Nations and the United States classify it as an armed rebel group. The DRC government has repeatedly accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebel group, a claim that Rwanda denies. Kigali, in turn, alleges that Kinshasa collaborates with the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, a Hutu armed group with ties to the perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, an allegation the DRC rejects. Military operations in the region remain fluid, with clashes leading to significant displacement and humanitarian concerns. Analysts warn that continued instability risks deepening the regional conflict, and several peacekeepers from the Southern African Development Community already have been killed since the recent rebel offensive. The key parties involved in the crisis include the DRC government, the M23 rebels and Rwanda. And all are pointing fingers at each other and claiming advances in one form or another. Laurence told journalists at a briefing in Geneva Friday there has been a marked increase in the incidence of rape and sexual violence, as fighting between the hostile armed forces has expanded toward South Kivu, following M23’s takeover nearly a week ago of Goma — North Kivu’s mineral-rich capital. Since the crisis started, the United Nations has received reports of more than 200 cases of rape and sexual violence. “The numbers, sadly, will likely be higher,” Laurence said. “As we know, in past conflicts, often for reasons of stigmatization, could be for social, cultural or personal reasons, many women may not report instances of this. The grim story is, the figure is, dare I say, higher, considerably.” Tarik Jasarevic, spokesperson for the World Health Organization, warned that “with the higher risk of violence, including rape, there is a risk for pregnant women, and we know that there is a high maternal death rate that we observed even before this violence. “Also, in this part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we have had a crisis of malaria, measles, cholera and the new, more severe strain of mpox. So, with this violence, the increased spread of these viruses is even bigger,” he said. The United Nations reports at least 700 people have been killed and more than 2,800 injured since M23 rebels seized Goma on Sunday. DRC Foreign Minister Therese Kayikwamba Wagner has accused Rwanda of illegally occupying part of her country by using what she alleges are a proxy, the M23 rebels, whom the DRC designates as terrorists. Kayikwamba said Friday that Rwanda was trying to orchestrate a regime change. Yolande Makolo, Rwanda’s government spokesperson, denied these charges, maintaining that Rwandan troops were being deployed only to prevent the conflict from spilling over into its territory. Meanwhile, Laurence noted the U.N. human rights office has received reports of conflict-related sexual violence committed by divergent groups, such as “the army and allied Wazalendo fighters in Kalehe territory.” “We are verifying reports that 52 women were raped by Congolese troops in South Kivu, including alleged reports of gang rape,” he said.  “Additionally, DRC officials report that at least 165 women were raped by male inmates during the prison break by more than 4,000 inmates from Goma’s Muzenze prison on 27 January, as M23 began its assault on the town.” The rights agency reported bombs struck at least two sites for internally displaced persons, causing civilian casualties. The agency documented summary executions of at least 12 people by M23 between Sunday and Tuesday. The International Organization for Migration, or IOM, reports that several displacement sites in Goma and on the outskirts, where over 300,000 displaced persons have sought refuge, “have been partially or completely emptied as families fled the fighting.” “Millions of people were already displaced by years of conflict in eastern DRC, and humanitarian needs were massive,” Amy Pope, IOM director general said Friday. “With the current alarming upsurge in fighting, an already dire situation is rapidly becoming very much worse.” Reports indicate that M23 has progressed farther south toward Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu. In other areas under M23 control in South Kivu, such as Minova, M23 reportedly has occupied schools and hospitals, forced displaced people out of camps and subjected the civilian population to forced conscription and forced labor. Türk warned that the current widespread proliferation of weapons in Goma “is exacerbating the already significant risks of serious violations and abuses.” “We continue to receive urgent requests from civilians for protection and are working with U.N. colleagues and other partners to ensure their safety,” he said. Türk called for investigations into the commission of violations, stressing the importance of holding perpetrators to account.
