Foreign Facebook Oversight Board Member Calls for Whole of Society Approach to Censor in US

Yet another Meta Oversight Board member has raised the alarm about so-called “bad actors” trying to undermine the electoral process — but rest assured she has the solutions to these problems: a whole of society approach to censoring speech. Meta Oversight Board Member Helle Thorning-Schmidt‚ the former Denmark prime minister turned alleged election expert‚ talked out both sides of her mouth in an op-ed calling on Big Tech to crack down on so-called “disinformation” — a common euphemism used by the left to censor online speech with which they disagree. At the same time‚ she stated that companies “must tailor their policies to basic principles of transparency and freedom of expression.” She warned that if we’re “not careful‚” 2024 could be the year that “fracture[s] democracy.” She also specifically called for governments to help in silencing speech‚ and urged Meta toward “closing the loopholes” in its censorship policies. Much like the Biden administration’s push for a “whole of society approach‚” she even had an explicit call for government and private entities to work together to censor speech. “[G]overnments‚ regulators‚ civil society and academics must work with us if we are to meet the challenge of combating election disinformation‚” Thorning-Schmidt pronounced. MRC recently exposed the Biden administration’s new strategy to censor and push leftist activism into American classrooms using a dizzying network of public and private actors both foreign and domestic. In the op-ed for the Financial Times‚ Thorning-Schmidt scaremongered‚ “the year that breaks election records may also fracture democracy.” Unfortunately‚ the former Prime Minister does not appear to see free speech as essential to a free democracy. Artificial intelligence (AI) has “amplified” the “risks” of supposed “disinformation” with deepfake images and other content‚ she claimed. While acknowledging the Oversight Board’s decision not to censor an edited video seemingly showing President Joe Biden inappropriately touching his granddaughter‚ she whined that Meta’s manipulated media policy “makes little sense.” Since the policy does not ban all types of edited content‚ and focuses specifically on AI rather than a more comprehensive approach‚ Thorning-Schmidt demanded a stricter policy. “There are clear tensions between allowing freedom of expression and protecting people from real-world harm‚” she asserted‚ urging the impossible task of analyzing a user’s intent. Even while urging transparency‚ and suggesting some content be labeled rather than removed‚ Thorning-Schmidt specifically insisted on moderation (i.e.‚ censorship) during crisis situations. “[In] crisis situations‚ including elections where the risk of violence is high‚ policies should reflect threats to physical safety and security‚” Thorning-Schmidt wrote. “A clear system for moderating content in a crisis is important.” This sounds all too familiar‚ as leftists have routinely used crisis situations‚ like the COVID-19 pandemic and recent banking failures‚ as opportunities to further their agenda. As leftist Chief of Staff for former President Barack Obama once claimed‚ “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before.” Thorning-Schmidt argued that governments should have to publicize their censorship requests‚ but did not adopt the idea that governments should not try to crush free speech at all. “Disproportionate censorship can contribute to a climate of misinformation and affect users’ rights to access information or share opinions‚” she rambled. Meta will be publishing its metrics on monitoring content‚ including election content‚ in 2024 after Oversight Board pressure‚ she wrote. Another Oversight Board member‚ Pamela San Martín‚ also recently claimed that Facebook’s 2020 election censorship was not sufficient. A Media Research Center poll found in November 2020 that 17 percent of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s voters would not have voted for him had they known the scandals censored by Big Tech and the legacy media. MRC Free Speech America Assistant Editor Luis Cornelio contributed to this report. Conservatives are under attack. Contact Facebook headquarters at (650) 308-7300 and demand that Big Tech be held to account to mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency‚ clarity on “misinformation” and equal footing for conservatives. If you have been censored‚ contact us using CensorTrack’s contact form‚ and help us hold Big Tech accountable.

Democratic DA Fani Willis slapped with yet another disqualification request

Democratic DA Fani Willis slapped with yet another disqualification request

A 229-page court motion filed Monday alleges Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis "has engaged in a pattern of prosecutorial‚ forensic misconduct" requiring her disqualification from overseeing the Georgia case against Trump co-defendant and former Georgia GOP Chair David Shafer. The Feb. 5 motion‚ which has been adopted by ex-Coffee County GOP Chairwoman Cathy Latham‚ another Trump co-defendant‚ also requests the disqualification of Willis' entire office and prosecution staff. The latest filing on Shafer's behalf came just days after Willis admitted to having an affair with Nathan Wade‚ the married and ostensibly unqualified man she tapped to run lead on the Georgia case. It is the fourth motion filed since Jan. 8 to disqualify the Black Panther's daughter. Latham's adoption means a total of five defendants in the Georgia case are now seeking Willis' ouster. The other three are former President Donald Trump‚ Michael Roman‚ and Bob Cheeley. The Feb. 5 motion to disqualify Willis rehashes many of the claims originally made in Roman's Jan. 8 motion to disqualify concerning possible criminal wrongdoing and misconduct on the Democrat's part‚ stressing that "all of the causes for the disqualification are self-inflicted blows." "The District Attorney's employment of Mr. Wade to investigate and prosecute the defendants and payments to Mr. Wade of over a half a million dollars from the Fulton County treasury while allowing Mr. Wade to pay for vacations for the District Attorney and other personal expenses constitutes a disqualifying conflict of interest as well as a violation of ethical rules applicable to attorneys and Fulton County employees‚ and potentially criminal laws‚" wrote Shafer's lawyer‚ Craig A. Gillen. Willis' lawyers claimed Friday in the state's response to previous motions to dismiss and disqualify that she has no financial conflict of interest or personal conflict of interest that would justify her removal. Whereas Wade said in an affidavit attached to Willis' Friday response that expenses for their romantic getaways "were roughly divided equally between us‚" Shafer's motion suggested otherwise — claiming receipts shared publicly show they "are not remotely 'roughly' equal‚" reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Receipts in Wade's divorce case revealed that the special counsel apparently blew $7‚200 on airline tickets‚ hotels‚ and cruise reservations for trips he took with Willis. The Democratic DA‚ on the other hand‚ appears to have spent only $697 on airline tickets for their trip to Miami. Wade has apparently been in a good position to pay more‚ having secured a higher hourly rate with Willis' office than at least one other special counsel and billed the county for over $728‚000 in legal fees‚ which the DA conveniently signed off on. Like the Trump's motion to disqualify‚ the Feb. 5 filing also suggests that Willis' publicized statements "have been severely prejudicial to the defense." "Straying wildly from the legal guardrails which are designed to protect the accused from improper‚ extrajudicial comments by a prosecutor‚ the District Attorney‚ for over a year-and-a-half‚ has given multiple interviews where she has improperly labeled some of the defendants as 'Fake Electors' and commented on the righteousness of her investigation and prosecution‚" said the motion. According to the filing‚ Willis' speech to a church congregation on Jan. 14 — where she characterized herself as a victim and intimated her critics were racists — was a tipping point. The motion alleges that in addition to prejudicing possible jurors‚ violating her oath of office‚ and breaking ethics rules‚ Willis' conduct constituted a breach of Georgia law concerning the employment of assistant district attorneys. The Journal-Constitution indicated that Shafer has requested that Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee change the venue for his case's later stages to a county that is not overwhelmingly Democratic to "ensure an impartial and less politically partisan jury." After all‚ the supermajority of Fulton County voters supported Joe Biden in 2020. Blaze News previously reported that McAfee‚ who is overseeing The State v. Donald John Trump‚ has scheduled a Feb. 15 evidentiary hearing to take up the misconduct allegations. Extra to all the requests for her removal‚ Willis also faces a Georgia Senate inquiry‚ pressing questions about possible improprieties from the county's audit committee chair‚ an impeachment push in the state legislature‚ and a congressional investigation. Trudeau exposed for inviting Ukrainian Nazi veteran to attend rally in Toronto after House speaker was blamed

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been exposed for inviting a man who fought in a Nazi unit in World War II to Parliament. It was previously believed that this was an error on the part of the speaker of the House‚ who resigned following the fiasco. In September 2023‚ Canada's Parliament faced international embarrassment after giving a standing ovation to Yaroslav Hunka‚ a 98-year-old veteran who fought in a Nazi unit for Ukraine in the Second World War. Hunka was even heralded as a Ukrainian and Canadian "hero" and received applause from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Trudeau for fighting communism.Due to the seemingly obvious fact that a soldier fighting for Ukraine against Russia in World War II would of course be under the Nazi banner‚ the Liberal government quickly faced criticism for the ordeal.Trudeau‚ who apologized at the time‚ saying it was "a mistake that deeply embarrassed Parliament and Canada‚" allowed House Speaker Anthony Rota to take responsibility for the incident‚ and Rota later resigned‚ the BBC reported. It has since been revealed that the prime minister himself invited the same man to attend a rally in Toronto‚ Ontario‚ to honor Zelenskyy during his visit to Canada. This event was on the same day he appeared in the Canadian Parliament. The invitation was sent on behalf of Trudeau through the Office of Protocol of Canada as a formal invite from the prime minister."Dear Yaroslav Hunka‚" the letter began. "The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau‚ Prime Minister of Canada‚ is pleased to invite you to a special event."The invitation featured an added disclaimer at the bottom‚ citing that guest recommendations were provided by groups like the Ukrainian Canadian Congress."Hundreds of Canadians were invited upon the recommendation of groups‚" the citation noted. "The individual in question was submitted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. The individual did not attend [the rally]." Canadian House Speaker Anthony Rota resigned after facing backlash over his applause for a Ukrainian solider with Nazi ties.

#Canada #AnthonyRota #justinTrudeau #Nazi #WorldNews — (@) Canadian Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre called Trudeau a "hypocrite" and a "fake" after the invitation became public."We now learned that Justin Trudeau was lying again. He told us that bringing the former Nazi to the Ukrainian president's visit was all the speaker's fault; it had nothing to do with him. His office didn't even know about it‚ he claimed. Well‚ now we know that was exactly false." — (@) The prime minister's office confirmed to state broadcaster CBC News that Hunka was indeed invited to the rally in Toronto. "Last September‚ there was a community event with the president of Ukraine in Toronto with over 1‚000 people invited. Hundreds of Canadians were invited‚" Trudeau's office said. "The individual in question's name was submitted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. The individual did not attend. Knowing what is known now‚ the individual shouldn't have been invited‚" the spokesperson added. The letter was initially revealed through an Access to Information request‚ Canada's version of a Freedom of Information Act request.Like Blaze News? Thugs tackle DC woman‚ spray mace in her face‚ apparently hold knife to her side‚ steal her iPhone — yet she says 'I love DC'

Doorbell camera video caught the moment when three individuals chased and tackled a woman in northwest Washington‚ D.C.‚ over the weekend‚ sprayed mace in her face‚ apparently held a knife to her side‚ and stole her iPhone and other belongings. Yet the 26-year-old victim told WTTG-TV after the attack that "I love D.C." and that she has no plans to move out of the city. What are the details? The woman was walking on 2nd Street Northwest just before midnight Sunday when she saw a black sedan pull up‚ after which three people got out and began running toward her‚ Fox News reported‚ citing a police report the cable news network said it obtained. Video captured the moment when the victim was running away from the trio on a sidewalk — but they easily caught up to her‚ shoved her so hard that she fell to the ground‚ and then they gathered around her as she screamed. Here's part of the video; based on the accompanying audio‚ it appears that at least two of the attackers could be females: — (@) WTTG‚ citing the police report‚ said the trio stole her wallet with her debit and credit cards‚ her ID‚ and her insurance card. The station added that they also demanded she unlock her iPhone‚ which they also stole. "I'm definitely feeling shaken up‚" the woman told WTTG Monday. "Just general feelings of being unsafe‚ like‚ in my neighborhood. I just feel‚ like‚ personally targeted and sort of violated." When the station asked her if she's considering moving out of the city over the trauma of her experience‚ the woman replied‚ "No‚ I love D.C. It just makes me sad that this is going to change how I experience D.C. and how I interact with my neighborhood and my space around me." WTTG said detectives are searching for the suspects and asking anyone with information to contact them. While the station said the victim was left "crawling back to her home" after the attack‚ the end of the complete video of the attack — shown in WTTG's video report below — appears to depict the victim rising to her feet and walking back down the sidewalk. Ivy League school reinstates SAT‚ ACT admissions requirement: One of 'the most reliable indicators for success'

Dartmouth College‚ a private Ivy League university in Hanover‚ New Hampshire‚ announced Monday that standardized testing scores will once again be required for admission. An article from the university explained that class of 2029 applicants will be required to submit SAT or ACT scores to be granted admission‚ according to a campus-wide email from President Sian Leah Beilock.Dartmouth previously suspended the requirement for undergraduate applicants in June 2020‚ citing COVID-19. Other institutions‚ including Brown University‚ the Massachusetts Institute of Technology‚ and Harvard University‚ also paused the requirement. MIT has since reinstated the admission policy."It was a pragmatic pause taken by most colleges and universities in response to an unprecedented global pandemic‚" the school stated in a recent press release. "At the time‚ we imagined the resulting 'test-optional' policy as a short-term practice rather than an informed commentary on the role of testing in our holistic evaluation process. Nearly four years later‚ having studied the role of testing in our admissions process as well as its value as a predictor of student success at Dartmouth‚ we are removing the extended pause and reactivating the standardized testing requirement for undergraduate admission‚ effective with the Class of 2029."According to the university‚ the requirement will "improve — not detract from — our ability to bring the most promising and diverse students to our campus."A new research study conducted by a group of faculty revealed that high school grades coupled with standardized testing are "the most reliable indicators for success" at the university."[The study] also found that test scores represent an especially valuable tool to identify high-achieving applicants from low and middle-income backgrounds; who are first-generation college-bound; as well as students from urban and rural backgrounds‚" the university stated.Economics professor Bruce Sacerdote‚ who participated in the research group‚ explained that some applicants opted not to share their test scores when it could have "helped that student tremendously‚ maybe tripling their chance of admissions."Lee Coffin‚ vice president and dean of admissions and financial aid‚ noted that the study's results were specific to Dartmouth and not a "grander statement about higher ed across the United States."Last year‚ Columbia University became the first Ivy League institution to permanently eliminate standardized test requirements for admissions. West Virginia University also dropped the requirement‚ claiming it would reduce the "stress" of the college application process for undergraduates‚ Blaze News previously reported. In October‚ ACT reported that test scores hit a 30-year low‚ with high school students' results declining for six consecutive years. According to ACT‚ the average composite score dropped by 0.3 points from 2022.Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors‚ sign up for our newsletters‚ and get stories like this direct to your inbox. CNN host can only respond with 'oh' after crime analyst explains why migrants don’t steal in red states

The best way to prove a point is to use cold‚ hard facts‚ and that’s exactly what CNN’s Erica Hill was hit with when chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst John Miller explained the reality of migrant-related crime. While Miller acknowledged that the majority of illegal immigrants pouring into cities like New York are “hard-working” and simply “in search of hope and a better life‚” there is another demographic that sees “a different opportunity.” “These individuals (I went over their wrap sheets yesterday) [have] multiple charges of grand larceny‚ robbery‚ [and] attempted robbery‚” Miller explained. “What the detectives are telling me is they have crews here that operate in New York‚ do all their stealing‚ then go to Florida to spend the money‚ and then come back. And I’m like‚ ‘Well‚ why don’t they just stay and steal in Florida?’ and they said‚ ‘Because there you go to jail‚’” Miller continued. “Oh‚” was all Hill could manage to utter in response. “I guess as a Floridian‚ I should thank these people‚” laughs Dave Rubin. “Keep doing it [Kathy Hochul]. Go for it [Eric Adams]. Open up all of your stores‚ and let them steal all your stuff.” Want more from Dave Rubin? To enjoy more honest conversations‚ free speech‚ and big ideas with Dave Rubin‚ subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America‚ defend the Constitution‚ and live the American dream.

'This will be my last tweet': Dutch woman posts sarcastic meme before assisted suicide for 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'

A woman from the Netherlands posted a sarcastic meme about getting medically-assisted suicide from her government before her estate eventually published a press release asking for acknowledgement for living sufferers.Lauren Hoeve‚ a 28-year-old from the Netherlands‚ described herself as a "stay-at-home cat parent. Ex-YouTuber and book blogger" on her still-active X account. "This will be my last tweet. Thanks for the love‚ everyone. I’m going to rest a bit more and be with my loved ones. Enjoy a last morbid meme from me‚" Hoeve wrote.About a week later‚ the woman's parents posted a press release about their daughter's passing. "Lauren passed away peacefully ... she requested euthanasia after years of unbearable suffering caused by severe myalgic encephalomyelitis‚" the statement began. "Lauren believed that our attention should be on the living. Millions of people are affected [by the disease] with no established treatment pathways and no cure.""Why is their suffering acknowledged enough for euthanasia but not enough to fund clinical research?" the parents added. This will be my last tweet. Thanks for the love‚ everyone. I’m going to rest a bit more and be with my loved ones. Enjoy a last morbid meme from me. ❤️😎👍 — (@) Hoeve's assisted suicide was highly publicized before it took place‚ a post on X linking to an article about her medical process reached over 655‚000 viewers. The article from RTL featured a photoshoot‚ her plans before death‚ and claims that Hoeve also had autism and ADHD."Choosing euthanasia feels like the nicest thing I can do for myself‚" Hoeve told the outlet.Unlike Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying program‚ which is only available for those over 18‚ the Netherlands' assisted suicide eligibility extends to 12-year-old children. "Minors may themselves request euthanasia from the age of 12‚ although the consent of the parents or guardian is mandatory until they reach the age of 16‚" a government website explained. "Sixteen and seventeen-year-olds do not need parental consent in principle‚ but their parents must be involved in the decision-making process. In August 2018‚ a 29-year-old woman also received help from the Dutch government to kill herself. As the BBC reported‚ Aurelia Brouwers was given poison to drink by a doctor — from which she soon died — because she had self-described mental health issues."I'm 29 years old and I've chosen to be voluntarily euthanised. I've chosen this because I have a lot of mental health issues. I suffer unbearably and hopelessly. Every breath I take is torture‚" the woman stated.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention‚ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome carries symptoms such as difficulty thinking‚ problems sleeping‚ sore throat‚ headaches‚ feeling dizzy‚ or severe tiredness.Like Blaze News? Turley points out why appeals court ruling against Trump may actually be a victory: 'They succeeded in doing that'

Turley points out why appeals court ruling against Trump may actually be a victory: 'They succeeded in doing that'

Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley explained on Tuesday why the appeals court ruling against Donald Trump is not a total loss for the former president. On Tuesday‚ the District of Columbia Court of Appeals rejected Trump's arguments that presidential immunity protects him from criminal prosecution in special counsel Jack Smith's election subversion case. The three-judge panel explained: For the purpose of this criminal case‚ former President Trump has become citizen Trump‚ with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant. But any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as President no longer protects him against this prosecution. ... At bottom‚ former President Trump's stance would collapse our system of separated powers by placing the President beyond the reach of all three Branches. Presidential immunity against federal indictment would mean that‚ as to the President‚ the Congress could not legislate‚ the Executive could not prosecute and the Judiciary could not review. The forceful ruling‚ while a loss for Trump‚ is not a total victory for Smith‚ according to Turley. "The most practical impact of this appeal was indeed the delay that it caused. It was very important for the Trump team to try to push this trial back. They succeeded in doing that‚" Turley reacted on Fox News. "The next stage here is that they can ask for review of the entire court — what’s called an en banc petition. That has to be reviewed and voted on even if they reject it‚ and that will take some time‚" he explained. "And then they will no doubt appeal to the Supreme Court‚ which now has a considerable stack on the desks of these justices‚ including election-related cases." Smith originally requested Trump's trial begin in January‚ giving the president just five months to prepare for trial. Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected that request and said the trial would begin on March 4‚ one day before Super Tuesday. But Chutkan finally acknowledged last week the trial will not begin on time‚ and pushed back its start back indefinitely. The trial was derailed when she originally rejected Trump's immunity arguments‚ which the president's lawyers appealed‚ thus stalling court proceedings. Smith tried to prevent a trial delay by petitioning the Supreme Court to bypass the appeals court — arguing the "public interest" necessitates a speedy trial — but the Supreme Court rejected the request. With the trial delayed and Trump left with two appeal options‚ it's becoming less likely the trial will be concluded by Election Day. Like Blaze News? Oklahoma sports broadcaster wins astonishing $25M lawsuit after outlet incorrectly reports he used N-word

A jury in Oklahoma has awarded a sports broadcaster $25 million after an outlet erroneously reported that he had used the N-word during a hot-mic moment. In March 2021‚ former friends and fellow broadcasters Scott Sapulpa and Matt Rowan sat down to announce a girls' basketball game between Norman High School and Midwest City High School. When the national anthem began to play before the game‚ the team from Norman took a knee‚ prompting a profanity-laced tirade from Rowan."They’re kneeling? F*** them. I hope Norman gets their a** kicked‚" Rowan ranted.Sapulpa then chimed in and asked‚ "Are you serious?"Rowan ignored Sapulpa's question. "F*** them. I hope they lose. Come on‚ Midwest City‚" Rowan continued. "They’re going to kneel like that? Hell with them. They even saluting the flag? Some of them aren’t. F***ing n*****s."Unbeknownst to the two men‚ their mics remained turned on‚ and Rowan's comments were broadcast to the livestreaming audience. At 11 a.m. the following day‚ the Oklahoman‚ the largest newspaper in the state‚ reported on the comments without identifying a speaker. A sports reporter then updated the article at 12:37 p.m. that day to report that Sapulpa had made them. At 3:05 p.m.‚ the outlet removed Sapulpa's name in connection with the comments‚ and at 5:35 p.m.‚ correctly attributed the remarks to Rowan.Unfortunately‚ the damage had already been done. Last week‚ during a civil trial alleging defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress‚ Sapulpa testified that he was soon bombarded with hateful text messages‚ including: "Racist f***er‚""Racist trash. Pls kill yourself‚""You racist piece of s*** f*** you I hope your kids get als‚" and"Your parents raised a b****."Hulbert Public Schools‚ where Sapulpa worked as a teacher and had previously coached football‚ immediately placed him on administrative leave‚ even though administrators knew he wasn't the speaker. "While it has been reported incorrectly that our employee was the announcer who said racist language‚" said a statement from Hulbert Superintendent Jolyn Choate‚ "our employee should have stood up for the students and contested the racist language from the other announcer and the hate and intolerance it represents."Attorney Bob Nelon‚ who represented Gannett‚ the media conglomerate which acquired the Oklahoman in 2019‚ used similar reasoning during trial. "[Sapulpa] can’t disassociate himself from the true fact he was part of a broadcast team who used racist language‚" Nelon claimed.Sapulpa countered that he did confront Rowan about the inappropriate language‚ but that conversation wasn't caught by the mics. Sapulpa claimed that the case of misidentification caused Hulbert High School‚ his alma mater‚ not to renew his contract and for other school districts to refuse to hire him."There would be some backlash‚" Broken Arrow associate athletic director Alton Lusk admitted on the stand. "There would be people who know [Sapulpa] and know he didn’t say that‚ but on the other hand‚ there would be some people who don’t know. "So‚ for me‚ I wouldn’t recommend him [for hire]‚ personally‚" Lusk added.About six months after the broadcast‚ Sapulpa landed a job as an after-school coordinator and girls' softball coach with Pawhuska Public Schools. Pawhuska head football coach Matt Hennessey agreed with Lusk that Sapulpa was unlikely to get a more prominent position in the school district.Sapulpa alleged that the Oklahoman's mistake also led to the collapse of his private business‚ Pullman 360‚ and the destruction of many of his personal relationships‚ including with former players and students."They wanted to be first; they wanted to be on the front page‚" Sapulpa's attorney‚ Michael Barkett‚ said in closing arguments. "Scott was not a person to them; he was a name."In speaking on behalf of Gannett‚ Nelon claimed that the Oklahoman made a "temporary error." He also argued that assessing a heavy fine against Gannett would ultimately harm the other small-town outlets it owns. "Mistakes happen‚" Nelon said. "Gannett is made up of people — over 11‚000 people. When you punish Gannett‚ you're punishing all those small-town newspaper editors."On Monday‚ the jury sided with Sapulpa‚ determining that he deserved $5 million in actual damages and $20 million in punitive damages."We're just so happy for Scott‚" Barkett said. "Hopefully this will vindicate his name."Gannett said it plans to appeal. "There was no evidence presented to the jury that The Oklahoman acted with any awareness that what was reported was false or with any intention to harm the plaintiff in this case‚" said spokesperson Lark-Marie Anton.Rowan also testified at trial and admitted he was the one who made the remarks. Rowan blamed the issue on a "poor choice of words" and anger over the Norman team's decision to disrespect the national anthem. "It deeply offended me‚" Rowan stated.A statement widely shared and attributed to Rowan indicated that spiking sugar levels resulting from his diabetic condition may have caused him to "become disoriented" that day during the game‚ but Rowan distanced himself that statement on the stand‚ claiming that an unidentified attorney had written it for him. Both men stated that they have not spoken since shortly after the incident.Like Blaze News? Biden tries to blame Trump‚ GOP for border crisis — but Fox News reporter pulls out the facts to rain on his parade

President Joe Biden tried on Tuesday to blame Donald Trump and the Republican Party for the border crisis — but the attempt quickly failed. For years‚ the Biden administration denied there is a crisis at the border and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has repeatedly claimed the border is "secure." The White House has stood on these claims despite overseeing record-setting illegal immigration. But Biden is now trying to blame Trump and the GOP for the crisis that unfolded under his watch. In a speech about the so-called border bill — which gives three times as much taxpayer money to Ukraine than to the border crisis — Biden asserted that if the bill fails to become law‚ Trump and Republicans are responsible for the chaos at the border.Biden said:If the bill fails‚ I want to be absolutely clear about something: The American people are going to know why it failed. I will be taking this issue to the country. And the voters are going to know... Trump and the MAGA Republicans said 'no' because they're afraid of Donald Trump‚ afraid of Donald Trump.Every day between now and November‚ the American people are going to know that the only reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends. President Biden Delivers Remarks on the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act www.youtube.com Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin‚ who has covered the border crisis for years‚ quickly fact-checked Biden's "obviously false statement‚" listing actions Biden took that directly exacerbated the migrant crisis."Biden ended the national emergency declaration at the border‚" Melugin explained‚ "ended wall construction‚ ended remain in MX &; safe third agreements‚ announced he wouldn’t deport anyone in his first 100 days‚ changed ICE priorities on who they can remove‚ said during campaign we should 'surge the border with asylum seekers — they should come!'""His DHS Secretary has taken the position that just being in the U.S. illegally is not grounds for removal‚" he continued. "Mass catch and release on a scale the country has never seen‚ [m]iniscule amounts of deportations‚ not following current Title 8 laws on the books. Little to no consequences for illegally crossing." — (@) But if recent polls are to be believed‚ there is no chance that voters — who have witnessed three years of Biden's mismanagement of the border — will believe Biden's new narrative.Meanwhile‚ Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) confirmed on Tuesday the bill's quick and decisive death.Like Blaze News?
