Transgender athletes now banned from women's field hockey in England

England Hockey has banned men who identify as women from playing in the women's category. The field hockey governing body has seemingly created a clever workaround, implementing a "female" category and an "open" category but no category for men. This effectively forces all biological men into the open division to ensure the women's sport is unaffected. "England Hockey recognises that this is an evolving landscape of both policy and research and that societal attitudes are ever-changing," England Hockey said in a press release."Based on the current available evidence and that hockey requires the physical capabilities of strength, endurance, speed, and acceleration as key factors for success, hockey is considered a gender-affected sport," the governing body admitted. "Based on this evidence (which can be found in the policy), we have determined that the Trans and Non-Binary Participation Policy should restrict trans participation in order to secure fair competition."The policy will go into effect at the start of the 2025/2026 field hockey season on September 1, with all previous guidance still in place until then. The sporting group said it launched a review in July 2023 and took guidance from the Sports Councils' Equality Group, a group of sports representatives in the U.K. that provides insight for these types of policies.'Discussing a young person's trans status with their parents ... would constitute a breach of confidentiality.'At the same time, England Hockey provided a plethora of resources that align with transgender ideology and seemingly act as paragraphs upon paragraphs of apologies. The group included a page of terms, which provided colloquial definitions of transgender-related words."Gender identity" is described as "a person's sense of self as a man, woman, non-binary person or other sense of gender."It added, "A person’s gender may match the sex they were recorded at birth, or it may be different.""Transphobia" is described as "deliberate behaviour aimed at disrespecting a transgender person’s identity or expressing irrational fears about transgender people."On a page titled, "How to support trans and non-binary participants," England Hockey informs athletic directors that a child's gender identity should not be shared with their parents."Discussing a young person's trans status with their parents or carers without their prior consent would constitute a breach of confidentiality."The move by England Hockey follows the Lawn Tennis Association, Britain's governing body for tennis, which decided in December to bar "transgender women" from playing in the top women's tournaments. The Ladies Professional Golf Association went a similar route a week prior, stating that only athletes who are "assigned female at birth" are eligible for competitions, including the LPGA Tour, Epson Tour, Ladies European Tour, and all other "elite LPGA competitions."While the trend of protecting women's sports is moving forward quickly, governing bodies appear to be doing so apologetically at the same time.Like Blaze News? Joe Exotic says he’s counting on Donald Trump to pardon him – 'I just need the man to listen'

Joe Exotic says he’s counting on Donald Trump to pardon him – 'I just need the man to listen'

Donald Trump has vowed to pardon nonviolent January 6 protesters within mere minutes of his inauguration. But there’s another person who’s hoping to cash in on the president’s generosity – Joseph Maldonado-Passage, better known as Joe Exotic, the Tiger King. “Tiger King” is a Netflix true crime docuseries that dropped in March 2020 just as COVID quarantining was ramping up. The show’s millions of viewers were fascinated by the series’ insider scoop into the strange underworld of illegal big cat breeding, but they were utterly enchanted by the Tiger King himself — an eccentric-dressing, gay, polygamist zookeeper, who, by the show’s end, was behind bars for 17 counts of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire. Exotic, who’s barely made a dent in his 21-year prison sentence, is hopeful that President Trump will have mercy on him. Alex Stein of “Prime Time with Alex Stein” recently spoke with Exotic on the phone about his prayers for an early release. “Between you and John Clay Wolfe and Joe Rogan's out there rooting for me now and Matt Gaetz ... I've got the voices. I just need the man to listen,” Exotic tells Stein. Alex says he can’t understand “why it’s such a big issue,” considering Exotic was “a cultural phenomenon” and “nobody got hurt.” “There's just so many people that are rapists, child molesters, murderers that get less jail time than you, Joe, and it just shows you that our political system and our, you know, criminal justice system is totally corrupt,” he says. Exotic says he’s banking on Trump having empathy, granted he’s been a repeat victim of our corrupt justice system. “I need his help,” Exotic admits. “The crazy part is the government so-called hitman that they set me up with admitted on world television on ‘Tiger King 2’ that he lied, and he made it all up. And then he went one step further, Alex, and ... he took the lawyers and the film people to the zoo and showed them where he hid a murder weapon, where they were actually gonna kill me first,” he laments. “I don't understand why I'm here. It doesn't make sense.” Alex says he intends to reach out to Lara Trump and Donald Trump Jr. on behalf of Exotic. “If he does a pardon of 3,000 people for January 6, he needs to throw you in there, too,” he says. Trump 'fully on board' with legislation to make daylight saving time permanent, senators say

Republican Sen. Rick Scott (Fla.) reintroduced legislation Wednesday that would "lock the clock" and render daylight saving time permanent, stating President-elect Donald Trump was "fully on board." Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) first introduced the Sunshine Protection Act in 2018 after the Florida Legislature passed a similar bill asking Congress to end the twice-annual practice of meddling with the time. The proposal has been made again repeatedly in the years since, with some states simultaneously undertaking their own efforts to lock the clock. While the U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act in 2022, which would make DST the permanent standard time, it died in the House, meaning the survival of the practice humored by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 and adopted throughout the West during World War I to conserve fuel by diminishing the need for artificial light. DST — which starts on the second Sunday in March at 2:00 a.m. and ends on the first Sunday in November at 2:00 a.m. — was foisted upon the nation at large as a legal requirement by the Uniform Time Act of 1966. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics noted that while state governments cannot independently change time zones or the duration of DST, they can exempt themselves from the practice. The only places where DST is not uniformly observed are American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Hawaii, and most of Arizona. There have, however, been various attempts by state lawmakers to expand that list. As of October, at least 30 states had reportedly considered or were considering DST-related legislation or resolutions. 'The Republican will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time.' Advocates of permanent DST have suggested that it will mean brighter evenings and fewer car accidents, reduced crime, and possibly less energy consumption. "I hear from Americans constantly that they are sick and tired of changing their clocks twice a year," Scott said in a statement. "It's an unnecessary, decades-old practice that's more of an annoyance to families than benefit to them." "I'm excited to have President Trump back in the White House and fully on board to LOCK THE CLOCK so we can get this good bill passed and make this commonsense change that will simplify and benefit the lives of American families," added Scott. While Trump is keen on eliminating time changes, he appeared to advocate for sticking with standard time when stating in a Dec. 13 post on Truth Social, "The Republican will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn't! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation." However, he previously stated in March 2019 that "Making Daylight Saving Time permanent is OK with me!" The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is among the groups advocating for locking the clock in standard time, convinced that "DST can cause misalignment between the biological clock and environmental clock, resulting in significant health and public safety-related consequences." According to a 2020 AASM position statement, "A change to permanent standard time is best aligned with human circadian biology and has the potential to produce beneficial effects for public health and safety." The bill that would lock the clock in DST has significant bipartisan support and counts among its cosponsors Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.). Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) stated, "Changing the clocks twice a year creates unnecessary difficulties for many people in Mississippi, especially farmers who rely on daylight to manage their crops, livestock, and daily tasks, and permanent daylight saving time would give them more consistency throughout the year. It would also help boost the economy, improve public safety, and offer important mental health benefits." Like Blaze News? Hearing a mysterious beep from your AirPods Pro? Here’s what it is

If you chose the AirPods Pro over the regular AirPods, it means you want access to some of Apple's best features for its wireless earphones. That might mean better sound quality, complete with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) support. Or it might mean taking advantage of the first hearing health features available on AirPods, the Hearing Test and Hearing Aid functionalities that can now be found in iOS 18. If you own AirPods Pro, you might also have discovered they play chimes here and there that you can't explain. Apparently, the random beeps are puzzling users, who discussed them online, including on the ATP podcast. It seems that Apple has updated a support document to explain that the sounds are normal and they help ensure the AirPods work as intended. Continue reading...
