The Kimmel Kerfuffle Doesn't Mean the World Is Ending

Ohhhh no! The world is ending! Or so goes the underlying moaning and groaning from the Left as ABC suspends the namesake host of its late night Jimmy Kimmel Live! show. And why did this suspension happen? Esquire summed it up this way:  Jimmy Kimmel is off the air—indefinitely. ABC announced Wednesday evening that it would cease airing new episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! until further notice. The network, and its parent company Disney, acted after complaints from conservative viewers and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) accused the late-night host of inaccurate reporting regarding the assassination of right-wing personality Charlie Kirk. “Inaccurate reporting” would be a decidedly -- make that flagrantly wrong -- description of what Kimmel told his audience. He said this, bold print for emphasis supplied: We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. The truth that Kimmel quite deliberately ignored? Charlie Kirk’s killer -- one Tyler Robinson -- was decidedly not a MAGA guy. He was in fact, as had been quickly noted and verified long before Kimmel was on the air, a thoroughgoing leftist who hated Charlie and made it known to those close to him that he was going to do something about it. He did, shooting and killing Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah in front of a crowd of thousands of students, including children. Which in turn opened the door for Kimmel to do his decidedly non-comedic bit of joking in front of his TV audience by saying, as noted, that “the MAGA gang” was desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them. And lo and behold millions of Americans who saw this bit of left-wing humor saw Kimmel’s “funny” and were not only not amused, but took offense that Kimmel was making a point of joking about the cold-blooded murder of a kind, decent 31-year old husband and father of two very young kids. No dummies over there running ABC and parent company Disney, the execs instantly jumped to “cease airing new episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live! until further notice.” And note: the parent company is Disney - as in founder Walt Disney, or “Uncle Walt” as he was famously dubbed in the day when he created all sorts of childhood favorites from cartoons with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck to TV shows featuring famous-in-the-day actor Fess Parker as Davy Crockett. One suspects that wherever “Uncle Walt” is now he is not amused at the so-called “humor” being sponsored by his namesake company. I am what might be called a “free speech fundamentalist.” But let’s be clear here. “Free speech” does not apply to the employee-employer relationship.  If you’re in a debate and call somebody stupid, the world keeps moving. But if in fact you take a moment in your job to call your boss stupid, well, need it be said that if your boss takes offense he/she “the boss” has every right to can you from working in the boss’s office. The First Amendment does not apply. Jimmy Kimmel, in his lust to smear MAGA folks (and reminder, “MAGA” stands for “Make America Great Again”) acted out his far-left politics on his live TV show the other night. To say the least, his bosses at ABC and Disney were not happy, and in a blink they suspended his show. Will it come back? That remains to be seen. But if there is any lesson to come out of the professional self-immolation of both Kimmel and CBS’s Stephen Colbert it is that they are hell-and-gone from the hilarious late night and decidedly non-political comedy shows that were hosted in the long ago by the inimitable NBC Tonight Show host Johnny Carson. Johnny would come out from behind the curtains on the set to announcer Ed McMahon’s iconic announcement: “Heeeeeerrrrrrrrrres Johnny” and the audience would respond with a thunderous welcome. Millions of Americans happily tuned in five nights a week to watch -- and laugh. With that Carson was into his opening monologue, a monologue that was almost always hilarious. And when a joke fell flat, he would mock himself and the audience would laugh like crazy.  Notably Johnny Carson was never political in a serious fashion. He was bipartisan, tweaking the prominent Republican or Democrat of the moment, not to mention whomever was President at that time. In short, late night hosts of today would benefit if they studied Carson. The problem here is that one suspects they have studied him - and their obsession with showcasing their far left politics is infinitely more important to them than making Americans get a non-partisan belly laugh as they end their workday. Is that too bad? Yes. But it is now crystal clear that more than being too bad, they are in danger of cancelling themselves out of their jobs, with bosses like ABC/Disney who have that peculiar notion that late night TV is, in fact, a business. A business that is supposed to earn money. And as this Kimmel Kerfuffle vividly illustrates, that’s no joke.

NPR 'Domestic Extremism' Reporter REFUSES to Find Leftist Extremes in Kirk's Killer

NPR’s “domestic extremism” correspondent Odette Yousef once again muddied the waters after an ideologically motivated shooting, this time in order to avoid having to blame the left for the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Yousef’s Thursday morning filing at NPR.org came with the headline: “Why was Kirk killed? Evidence paints complicated picture of alleged assassin.”   Prosecutors in Utah appear to be preparing to argue that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah last week because he disagreed with Kirk's anti-trans rhetoric. In their charging document, authorities cite text messages that Robinson allegedly exchanged with "his lover/roommate," a person they describe as "a biological male who was transitioning genders." The document also includes another text in which Robinson allegedly explains that he killed Kirk because he had "had enough of his hatred." The presumed motive has added fire to a rash of speculation by high-reach conservatives, who have suggested that this motive equated to a political ideology. The same day Kirk was killed, President Trump claimed the shooter was a "radical leftist." Others have suggested that the suspect may have been "groomed" by a "trans terror cell" and that he was perhaps working with larger groups, including "antifa." So far, these claims have not been supported by publicly released evidence. So the bullet casings saying “Hey fascist! Catch!” isn't a clue? Another referred to a song “Bella Ciao,” which celebrated the end of Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. These scream "anti-fascist," or "Antifa."  To counter that strong argument for Robinson’s leftism, Yousef rounded up some incredibly unconvincing counterpoints. The 22-year-old is not registered to vote and hasn’t issued any statements about labor rights! In fact, little is still known about Robinson's politics. According to the charging document, his mother told investigators that he had become more "pro-gay and trans-rights oriented" within the last year. It also includes a text message, allegedly written by Robinson, that said "since trump got into office [my dad] has been pretty diehard maga." But Robinson is not registered with a political party in Utah. There is no evidence of his positions on other issues of importance to the left, such as immigration or labor. Why would a leftist necessarily be registered for a political party anyway? The dearth of information about Robinson's political views has suggested to some researchers of online culture and shootings that there may not, in fact, be much more to Robinson's alleged violence than a single-issue grievance. They say that one particular piece of information shared in the charging document lends support to this theory. "Remember how I was engraving bullets?," Robinson allegedly wrote. "The f***in messages are mostly a big meme, if I see 'notices bulge uwu' on fox new I might have a stroke…" Yousef seemed bugged anyone would make assumptions about Robinson’s hatreds based on hard information that strongly suggests he's a left-wing radical: Almost as soon as Utah Gov. Spencer Cox shared what the shell casing engravings said at an FBI press conference last week, many were quick to assign meaning.... After a dive into online videogame culture and a thankfully brief discussion of “furries,” delivered with the strong implication that the shooter’s in-jokes and memes had no ideological content, Yousef claimed to have uncovered a pattern of mass shooters working from a "cultural script….But in those cases, the attackers typically lacked any political or ideological motive, instead striving to be remembered among figures who had committed similar atrocities in the past." In other words: No left-wingers here! Yet Yousef had never had a problem finding right-wing extremism and radicalization everywhere, unearthing “anti-Semitic blood libel” in the populist countrified song “Rich Men North of Richmond” (even though singer Oliver Anthony called himself "dead center" politically), and seeing anti-black racism in protecting Jewish students from anti-Semitic attacks on campus.

Armed man arrested at Charlie Kirk memorial site while posing as law enforcement

A man who claimed to be a member of a law enforcement agency was arrested at State Farm Stadium on Saturday. The memorial for Charlie Kirk is being held at the football stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday. The stadium is already buzzing with security, as the event is said to be dealing with a Super Bowl level of media interest and attendance.'The individual is not a member of authorized law enforcement ...'While local officials have said that security teams have had to be pulled together in record time, law enforcement on the ground appears to be effective so far. One man has already been arrested after he was reportedly exhibiting strange behavior at the stadium."The U.S. Secret Service, in coordination with local law enforcement in Glendale, Arizona, is investigating an individual who was observed exhibiting suspicious behavior at State Farm Stadium," a Secret Service spokesperson said, per MSNBC."The individual was approached by Secret Service and stated during the encounter that he was a member of law enforcement and that he was armed," the spokesperson continued.RELATED: Here's how to watch BlazeTV coverage of the memorial for Charlie Kirk Photo by Chris Coduto/Getty Images "The individual is not a member of authorized law enforcement working the event and is currently in custody. The U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement are investigating the circumstance as to why he was at the location," the spokesperson added. While NBC correspondent Jay Gray stated that the man remained in custody, The Hill reported that authorities "suggested" that the man was charged by the Arizona Department of Public Safety but that it is unclear whether he is still in custody.Gray went on to confirm that security around the stadium is indeed comparable to that of a Super Bowl and is, "at that level already" ahead of the 2 p.m. ET start time on Sunday.MSNBC reported that security consists of a mix of local and federal law enforcement, with drones and hundreds of cameras — approximately 300 — positioned around the stadium.RELATED: Why Charlie Kirk's murder is 'about me' — and anyone else they dehumanize as a 'Nazi' Photo by CHARLY TRIBALLEAU/AFP via Getty Images Kirk's murder has sent shock waves across the world, drawing heaps of praise and, unfortunately, criticisms as well.Earlier this week, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel had his late-night program suspended by ABC over remarks he made about Kirk's alleged killer. Sinclair Broadcast Group was set to replace ABC programming with an hour-long documentary about Kirk's life. However, Sinclair, the largest owner of ABC-affiliated television stations, backed out of airing the tribute on Friday.Like Blaze News? Democrat pushes sick claim that Charlie Kirk wanted to 'roll back the rights' of black people and women

A congresswoman reversed course to condemn Charlie Kirk just hours after voting to honor him.Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) was one of 95 Democrats who voted in favor of honoring Kirk's "life and legacy" on Friday in a House resolution. The vote came just over a week after Kirk was assassinated, allegedly by a young male who was dating a transgender person.'... Kirk’s racist, anti-American views.'In total, the resolution received support from both Democrats and Republicans with a 310-58 vote. While 58 Democrats voted against and another 22 did not vote at all, Sherrill's about-face afterward was all the more confusing considering that she voted in support of the resolution. In statement posted to her X account, Sherril wrote that while she supports free speech, she still thinks Kirk has "vile" views."I take my oath to the Constitution seriously. I believe in free speech. And that the First Amendment wouldn’t be necessary if it were only meant to cover language we agreed with," Sherrill stated. "It is meant to protect people like Charlie Kirk who present vile dissenting views. But it is also meant to protect teachers, doctors, and TV comedians who may express views the president doesn't like."Then the New Jersey Democrat claimed that Kirk supported restricting the rights of women and black people.RELATED: Sinclair backs out of airing Charlie Kirk on its ABC stations — here's what it did instead — (@) "Charlie Kirk was advocating for a Christian nationalist government and to roll back the rights of women and Black people — this flies in the face of every value I hold dear and that I fight for," Sherril continued. "But the Constitution protects free speech, even for those I vehemently oppose."Sherrill then stated that President Trump "defines hypocrisy at every turn" and is "instigating a witch hunt worthy of Joseph McCarthy to shut down the free speech rights of anyone who disagrees with Kirk’s racist, anti-American views."The 53-year-old noted in her final paragraph that she considers Kirk's murder to be "horrific" and said it is "up to all of us to stand against political violence.""In these times, I will continue to condemn political violence, racism, attacks on women, and the hypocrisy coming from Trump and his acolytes," she concluded.RELATED: Why Charlie Kirk's murder is 'about me' — and anyone else they dehumanize as a 'Nazi' Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.). Photographer: Victor J. Blue/Bloomberg via Getty Images Sherrill is running for governor of New Jersey in November as the Democratic Party candidate. She will run against Republican Jack Ciattarelli.Ciattarelli responded to Sherrill's comments, writing on X, "Mikie Sherrill's hypocrisy knows no bounds."He also described her comments about Kirk as "inexcusable and disqualifying."Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) responded to Sherrill's remarks directly in her comments section with, "You can't just say crap like that — especially when it's not true."Like Blaze News?
